Re: Angry PlayStation Fans Propose PS5 Blackout in Protest of Sony's Disc Decision

Stocksy

@themightyant to be fair the protest will move the needle during the “live aspect” daily their will be statistics as the live players and even small blips in the normal trends will have people at Sony looking into what caused them. We are such a statistic driven culture now - if a million players stopped playing for a week - Sony would pay attention even it they did nothing as a result.

I doubt I’ll play my ps5 that week anyway either way of a protest or not. So I’ll not cause a blip one way or another 😂 I don’t get much big screen gaming in these days.

There are two types of people in the world Intelligent people and people that say “why do people protest” - maybe the education system wherever you live failed you, but society and free society was built on protests.

Learn some history. Without a small minority leading and starting protests you wouldn’t live the charmed and privileged lives you live, a small rich minority right now are trying to manipulate you into believing protesting in the right way about the right things is wrong and want to create fake reasons to protest.

Even those people understand the power of protest

@MinervaX76 agree. The issue for me isn’t that digital is bad. (It is). But that shipped sailed.

VC is bad. Microtransactions are bad. Day one patches are bad. Most DLC models are bad.

It’s not progress - some of it could have been but almost all of it was embraced by the industry for greed. Digital itself is ok. DLC could be and Day one patches could be ok (with very limited use)

But we accepted all this and apologists and gaming media told us everything was good or needed to “support the industry grow” it was all a nonsense.

We are now painted in a corner having embraced it all.

The thing that makes this stand out above all the above and makes this worse it’s the removal of choice. Choice brings competition and helps consumers. To be pro digital only even if you are buy digital is stupid. Physical helps keeps costs down. Digital needs to compete.

Then you have game preservation but unfortunately due to downloads/day one patches, dlc and online requirements this is less of an argument for physical than it was.

We really embraced a whole of lot damaging nonsense and to argue this last drama is just a few of us in a echo chamber is ridiculous- some of us just knew for years all these little changes in the industry were so so damaging long term and it’s a snowball you can’t stop rolling

PlayStation have scored a few own goals but this is the greatest. Lee Dixon would be proud

PlayStation (push square) reporter says the dominoes jokes don’t land for him 😂 I don’t think they expected them to but the are delivering for a lot of people and it’s PR genius. If pushsquare could work out how to connect with people like Dominoes have they’d be doing numbers they can only dream of and maybe could cut back on the clickbait.

Re: Rumour: GTA 6 Will Get a Disc-Based Physical Release After Its Initial Launch

Stocksy

@dskatter tbh after the first three games even the humour which started ironic (adverts on the radio, some of the missions, many of the characters) stopped being ironic humour and R* embraced a lot of the things they were originally trying to send up…. It’s then even funnier their actual business practises have mirrored this. Funny what money and greed will do. They’ve lost their way so far. It’s a shame.

Re: Wolverine PS5 Will Win Awards for These Outstanding Accessibility and Difficulty Options

Stocksy

Should be standard. At least 75% of this anyway.

On purely the difficulty setting I’ve never and will never understand why some gamers and devs love the GIT GUD mantra. All it does is puts a massive % off. Have a super hard setting for anyone that wants it. But for those with other factors or just want to enjoy a game and the story allow them to have an easy experience not sure who that hurts?

Spiderman was the very gold standard for this.

Re: UK Gamers Question Hobby's Future as Government Bans Kids from Social Media

Stocksy

@NerdyPaul I’m gonna bite, regret it after but I’m gonna bite…

Should kids be able to buy alcohol? You against that policy? What about car seats? Kids didn’t used to have to be in safe car seats, how you feel about that? Food standards? They a bad thing? Seat belt laws? These all a massive overreach by government?

Smoking? Let kids smoke…

As for the “it’s the parents job” crew - so just because some kids have bad parents we should as a society not put any protections in place? The social media companies did this to themselves.

Tech did this to themselves.

Re: Ubisoft Shutting Multiple Studios, as the News Just Keeps Getting Worse

Stocksy

Thing is, it’s announced now and like this article it says the gaming industry is suffering, but look at the last few weeks easily the best and most decent game announcements we’ve had in years…. Something doesn’t add up…

Wish everyone well that’s lost their job. That’s the real issue here. Bad senior management and decisions cost those not involved their jobs

Re: 'This Policy Doesn't Reflect How Games Actually Work Today': Stop Killing Games Gets Big Win, But the Fight Is Far from Over

Stocksy

@DennisReynolds @ShadowRJ the first two comments from you two smash every single I’ll thought out argument why “stop killing games” doesn’t work…. We should accept single player games laced with online only restrictions. Online should be online only 😂 - ditto licensing. It’s wild to me Xbox remove Forza 3 but have all the licenses for same cars (pretty much) in 4 and 5 and now 6 - these are not cool excuses. Keep games alive. Delisting is slightly more bareable than the likes of the crew which lets all face it was a ridiculous farce from the start that it was online only.

Re: 'Launching the Game Is Just the Beginning': Don't Trade in 007 First Light for PS5

Stocksy

@Bluemoon2008 people throw round word “entitled” but begging to pay companies for everything when they make millions is madness mate. If they charge and it’s good fair dues but all this “support the dev” nonsense. You seen the prices rises of everything, not one is looking out for everyone else, wages lower, ai taking jobs and companies making record profits. I don’t mind paid dlc but asking for paid stuff is bonkers.

Re: Sudden Steam Deck Price Increase Pins More Questions on PS6

Stocksy

The steam deck is my fave ever tech purchase. It’s brilliant and I’d never done pc gaming before it. It was an impulse buy just as the waiting list was ending when they first came out. I put myself on waiting list and literally a week later I could buy. It’s brilliant but a bit like the ps5 I wouldn’t pay this price. This gen has been hugely disappointing and I won’t be day one on ps6 for sure

Re: Mixtape Isn't Going Anywhere, Won't Be Delisted Over Music Licenses

Stocksy

@AverageGamer i don’t see where you are going other racing games with hundreds of vechiles and very robust soundtracks don’t get delisted. You are seeing what you want to see especially when you consider Xbox then license almost all the cars back for the next game. They want to direct players and their time and money to new games and not the older ones. It’s a shame.

Re: Mixtape Isn't Going Anywhere, Won't Be Delisted Over Music Licenses

Stocksy

@Brigurugi what a crazy hot take. It’s not a normal video game soundtrack at all. Not many people would be familiar with every song on the soundtrack and I suspect you know that. There are songs that will trigger happy memories for many of us of a certain age, I was very surprised to see Portishead on there and whilst roads is a “known” one of their songs it’s not the most obvious choice. I say known….. let’s be fair it’s not known known.

Re: Of Course There's Already a New GTA 6 Pre-Orders Conspiracy Theory

Stocksy

@PercyChuggs for full RRP too. lol in UK there is a chain called curry’s and they used to do a deal where you got it cheaper if you preordered a game and often that price wouldn’t be beaten for first six months. I fully understand preordering a game you were gonna get day one then. But getting excited and having rumours about can we preorder at full RRP for a game that’ll be everywhere is wild 😂

Re: Of Course There's Already a New GTA 6 Pre-Orders Conspiracy Theory

Stocksy

@TheArt I appreciate all R* games just can’t get on with driving or shooting mechanics in GTA. Some of the difficulty spikes too but I know it’s a brilliant game. Absolutely love Warriors - might be most underrated game of all time. max Payne 3 is a masterpiece and LA Noire needs a sequel or a Gangster/Mafia version…. And obviously midnight club…. That should be back. RDR3 goes without saying…. What was the smuggling one…. I need to retry that one

Re: Of Course There's Already a New GTA 6 Pre-Orders Conspiracy Theory

Stocksy

I’ve heard that the preorder is only 4 days coz this is gonna be an ultra limited release. You don’t hit that window you are toast. No game for you

*apparently wild rumours are in vogue.

Honestly though - it’s not like anyone is offering a preorder discount on this. You’ll be able to get it everywhere. Preordering at full price months ahead is a wild practise. I get preordering when a company offers lower than RRP.

Re: How Rockstar Squeezed a Whole City into Your PS2

Stocksy

GTA for me unfortunately has always been frustrating experience. The controls and driving have always been a bit whacky…. The difficulty spike on some missions just takes me right out of the game. Never ever had that issue in Red dead series

@Member_the_game I think being able to toggle some of the settings on and off would help. As I know some love that side and some don’t.

Re: SEGA Cancels Super Game Project and Moves Away from Live Service

Stocksy

The industry has been in an enormous period of self harm on many levels with the greed from VC, loot boxes and all the other low hanging fruit grabbing, they’ve made it much harder for people to trust games day one and so many games fail.

Moving away from “live service” and concentrating on making good games and selling them for a fee is truly the future. FTP and the worse charge to play but still have FTP mechanics bubble has burst and soon will be confined to history I hope.

Re: Why Is Everyone Acting So Weird About PS5 Game Mixtape?

Stocksy

Gamers of a certain age like to get all hot under the collar if it’s reminding them of an era they don’t understand or don’t care for and the then bizarrely claim the era is “being thrown down their throats” I don’t know anything about this game, I’ve seen some comments though. Faux rage seems to be about a few different things. Watching a 3 second clip and getting angry.

What a time to be alive

Re: Physical Game Fans, Beware: Digital Downloads Hit an Astonishing 85% on PS5, PS4 Last Quarter

Stocksy

@PuppetMaster and people won’t notice. I have easily two thousand games over all the platforms digitally probably way more as I have over 1500 on steam. I have no idea if some have been revoked from me.

When I flick through my physically discs - I have them in multiple big games folders… I forget about some I own there but the disks are there and often I’ll find I gem to play I’d forgotten about.

It’s a shambles what these companies are up to!
