Re: Blood Message Is Uncharted Meets Ancient China, and It Looks Phenomenal

Shepherd_Tallon

Looks almost exactly like what I want.

I've been craving a swords and sorcery or swords and sandals type game from Naughty Dog, or at least in their action adventure style, for years. Nice to see a few starting to appear.

Between this, Echoes of the End and Phantom Blade Zero, maybe we're at the end of the SoulsClones era? I love me some Souls, but I tend to limit myself to the FromSoftware releases so I don't burnout on the genre.

Re: Fans Can't Believe PS5 Has Made More Profit Than All Previous PlayStations Combined

Shepherd_Tallon

@Titntin Agreed with this.
This gen I have more unfinished games than I've had since the NES era. And back then I only had a backlog because I wasn't good enough to finish the likes of Solstice or Battle of Olympus.

I got into PS1 for the third party games at the time. I didn't think much about first party until PS3. Maybe it's a generational thing, but I just don't feel let down by the lack of first party games when there's so much of everything else to play.

Plus, Death Stranding and Ghost of Yotei are how close?

Re: Stellar Blade Immediately Breaks Sony's Peak Single Player Record on PC

Shepherd_Tallon

@Oram77 Fair comment. I've bounced off of the story a few times and I find it hard to listen to the dialogue in EN, but the levels look fantastic and combat is something else entirely.
Timing a dodge just right feels amazing.
Has to be some of the most exciting combat I've played in the last year or two.

My main issue with it is that watching her run or jump makes me feel like I'm constantly about to break my own ankles 😂

Re: Hands On: MindsEye Is a Boring Mess

Shepherd_Tallon

@Ravix I hadn't heard that but it explains so much. You get the sense that there was a serious change of direction at some point.

It's a shame because when it first appeared it was interesting.
I'll try it at some point I'm sure.

Re: Site News: Where's Our MindsEye PS5 Review?

Shepherd_Tallon

@Perturbator If you take the first letter of his first name and swap it with the first letter of his last name you get... Robert Ramsey!
Coincidence??? Not likely!

But yeah, this game is on my radar for all the wrong reasons unfortunately. It feels very half baked.

Re: PS5's Brilliant New State of Play Breaks Records for Sony

Shepherd_Tallon

@Titntin To add to your point about third party at PS1 launch - With an assist from Capcom, Sony added additional hardware to the console specifically to make Street Fighter run.
Back then I bought PlayStation for Resi, FF and Tomb Raider.

First Party on PlayStation didn't become something I thought about at all until The Last of Us on PS3. I think maybe Syphon Filter, Alundra and Legend of Dragoon were the only first party games I played on PS1, but I don't know if I even realised they were first party.

Re: The Order 1886 Could Have Been a Big Trilogy of PlayStation Games

Shepherd_Tallon

I played it years after it came out and really enjoyed it. I think I was expecting it to be awful after the critical reception it received, but it ended up not being that bad.

Funnily enough this was the game at E3 2013 that steered me towards PlayStation after spending most of the previous gen on 360. It reassured me that PlayStation was going to be the console that would continue giving me big narrative experiences.

Re: PS5, PC Live Service Fairgames Is a 'Super Clunky' Cross Between Fortnite and The Division

@get2sammyb @ChrisDeku @AgentMantis
Very true.
Even as recently as Dragon Age Inquisition, I remember people slating the multiplayer mode as tacked on garbage that drained resources from the campaign.
Factions kind of bucked the trend because it was so good, and I loved the ME multiplayer too, but even in those cases at the time they were slammed by people in the core community as junk.

In 15 years similar voices will probably be slating the holodeck and remembering gaas with nostalgia.
