Oblivion atm, but I'm taking a bit of a break this weekend. It's a long weekend so I'll be catching up on a few years worth of X-Men and maybe re-reading Empire of the Vampire.
@Ravix I've been thinking of doing something similar for the Tsuba, but I'm always afraid whatever I order will be flawed in some way once it gets here. Nice swords are hard to come by.
For myself I just couldn't resist a second mask to go alongside the first one. I'll be doing an extension on the house hopefully before the end of September. I want the two masks on one side of the TV in the new game room once it's complete. The sash is nice too. I'll probably frame that for the door or something.
I think I might be the only person I know of who isn't hyped for this game. I'm sure it will be good, and I hope it's truly great, it's just that everything so far has made me wary of getting too excited.
Expedition 33 just arrived in the post a few minutes ago so I'm currently installing that, but for now I'll still be chasing the FF VII Rebirth plat and dungeoneering in Oblivion.
@Westernwolf4 @idiotthechef
I was thinking about this too, but when you see the size of Jackson from the valley ridge, it's pretty big.
I may be mistaken, but it looked to me like the battle mainly took place in the area inside that breach and maybe a few blocks back.
Did we get to see how far in they pushed?
@Westernwolf4 I think the only thing that could have done a better job than those dogs in that moment would have been the Rohirrim. Such a satisfying scene.
I enjoyed finding Gut's and Griffith's armour in Dragon's Dogma way back (and I believe Dragon's Dogma Online did something similar). If I can unlock Berserk armour and weapon skins in Diablo IV I'd probably go back for a weekend.
Pop Up Parade are great. Really nice statues but also really affordable. Obviously they have some pricey ones, but the €50.00 range statues are high quality too.
If you look at his comments over the years I think he's always been a bit of a Nintendo fan. It sounds like he was excited to see what they would do next, but is disappointed that it wasn't a N64 Controller/Mario 64 moment.
Personally I was hoping for a more powerful Switch. I always say I'm a sucker though - If they put Mario Kart and Zelda on it, I'll buy it.
It doesn't look half bad either. A perfect little game for the Portal during the summer months. The combat gives me Alundra on easy mode vibes too. I've been craving that kind of gameplay.
@Kraven I had something similar happen with Salt & Sacrifice. One of the ending trophies popped, but when I checked it again afterwards it hadn't registered. Haven't played the game since.
I bounced off of Remake after one play through. I just couldn't gel with it like I did the original. I went back to it a year later for NG+ though and I absolutely loved it. I'm not sure what changed, but I felt like I was playing FF VII again for the first time.
I've a D&D session in the afternoon but before that I'm chasing the Dragon's Dogma 2 platinum. Just 5 trophies left, not counting the plat, and they're all fairly handy. Just time consuming.
The show was good I thought, but I'm easy to please - I always say that all I need from a Nintendo console is Mario Mart and Zelda, so it's an easy buy for me. It definitely won't replace PS5 as my primary console, but I'm very excited for it all the same.
It will replace my Steam Deck though.
I don't feel a need to get an upgraded version of that now at all.
Maybe not at launch, but I'll get Switch 2 no later than next Christmas.
Mario Mart looks great 🤤
I'm not sure what to make of it yet.
It's a FromSoftware game so I'm always going to jump in, but it's not giving me the usual "Must own!" vibes. Some extended gameplay would probably change that.
@UltimateOtaku91 That's exactly how I ended up playing it too. It's compelling, but a lot of the side stuff is super drawn out. Or at least, that's how it felt to me.
Avowed and Fable are the games I want from MS. The others don't really grab my attention. Flight Sim looks amazing, but I know I'd just play it twice and forget about it.
"You don't want the thing they want you to want. You want the thing I want you to want."
That aside, the thinking behind this observation is not new.
I know not everyone is the same, but most kids don't appreciate the value of things. They just want to play.
I was like this. So were my friends.
Then I got older and had to account for my own spending. I didn't want to feel like my money was disappearing into the ether. I want something tangible in return for my money npw and I spend it on stuff I can enjoy in my own space, like consoles.
But again, not everyone is the same, and either way there's a place for the way everyone wants to play.
If mobile phones didn't kill consoles 15 years ago I don't see why tablets or screens on car seats would either. It's just another option.
Besides, when Switch 2 comes out this Christmas everyone and their Ma will want one.
It will be the same when PS6 comes out.
@Intr1n5ic Yeah I think so too.
I was looking at some of the YouTube reviews just now and they're giving it some seriously high praise. I've seen it get a 9.5/10 elsewhere too.
I'll stick with my order.
This review makes me second guess myself.
I came out of the demo feeling like I had been playing Entry Level Souls or a Souls game for people who were getting older and were not as nimble as they were when Demon's Souls came out, and tbh I enjoyed it based on that.
I found the parry system to be very forgiving, and dying to bosses didn't feel frustrating because you are constantly rewarded with exp depending on how much damage you manage to dish out during the fight.
I'm seeing it score higher elsewhere online. Meta score is currently 8/10 on PS5, 8.5/10 on PC. But if it's as repetitive as you're saying I might cancel it for now and see how it's looking next week.
Project Zomboid on Steam Deck and Helldivers II on PS5/Portal. I'm thinking I should finish Death Stranding finally too, but I'm kind of taking it easy until Khazan comes out.
In the past few months this has gone from a purchase I was very happy with to the best purchase I've made in years. Can't wait to see what they do with the next handheld.
I'm enjoying the demo atm. It's not super easy, but not as difficult as a FromSoftware game either, and the parry is very forgiving in a way that makes the combat flow nicely.
It feels like Entry Level Souls to me.
Helldivers II as usual.
I'm working on FF VII Rebirth hardmode too.
And maybe Stardew Valley on Steam Deck.
I'm on my first day of two weeks off work. I wouldn't mind playing something new.
I've been craving a dungeon delving experience. It might get be time to go back to Legendary Tales or Behemoth. Or even CyubeVR.
@themightyant Agreed, the LCD screen is excellent already. Also yes, the size and ratio of the screen are near perfect.
I have that muscle memory issue with the Steam Deck too actually. I suppose it's only natural having spent 30 years on PlayStation and 30+ on Nintendo.
@themightyant tbf the Steam Deck does a great job as a remote play device for PS5 and it's very east to setup, but the Portal is just, for me, so much nicer to hold and play on.
All it's missing in an oled screen. (The current screen feels top quality too though.)
I've been loving mine. I picked up the PowerA charging dock for it the other day. Looks class with the light on.
I can't play isometric games on a big screen because they give me virtigo or something, but they feel perfect on Portal. I probably wouldn't touch Diablo if not for the Portal.

@Ravix Ah very cool. Thanks for the link 👍
Re: Ghost of Yotei PS5 Pre-Orders Go Live for Digital, Physical Copies
@Ravix Sounds very nice.
I want something similar for a katana. I'd like a longsword too, but I have no idea what to go for there.
Re: Ghost of Yotei PS5 Pre-Orders Go Live for Digital, Physical Copies
@Ravix No none at all actually. It's one of those things I always meant to get into, but somehow never found the time.
You?

@CrispyMango92 Ah then I'm glad I pinged you!

@Ravix @CrispyMango92 Ordered the CE myself.
I'll save it and put it under the tree for next Christmas. Nothing beats a new game on Christmas Morning.

Re: Expedition 33's Sublime Success Sparks Chatter About Final Fantasy's Future
I love the Remake series, and I can't wait to start E33, both for the same reasons - compelling characters and settings.
The fact that both have excellent combat systems is the cherry on top.

My favourite part was honestly the dogs.
Absolute best boys and girls ever.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 577
I got the plat for Dragon's Dogma II during the week, so I'm back to FF VII Rebirth now. That's pretty much all I'm playing for the next few weeks.

Still chasing down the plat in Dragon's Dogma II.
I almost have it. Just 3 trophies left...

Re: Shuhei Yoshida on the Switch 2 Direct: 'Underwhelming Until FromSoftware Showed Up'
