The prices have me worried, and Duskbloods being a PvPvE turns me off of it, but Mario Kart Worlds looks amazing.

The show was good I thought, but I'm easy to please - I always say that all I need from a Nintendo console is Mario Mart and Zelda, so it's an easy buy for me. It definitely won't replace PS5 as my primary console, but I'm very excited for it all the same.

It will replace my Steam Deck though.
I don't feel a need to get an upgraded version of that now at all.

Maybe not at launch, but I'll get Switch 2 no later than next Christmas.

I'm not sure what to make of it yet.
It's a FromSoftware game so I'm always going to jump in, but it's not giving me the usual "Must own!" vibes. Some extended gameplay would probably change that.

@UltimateOtaku91 That's exactly how I ended up playing it too. It's compelling, but a lot of the side stuff is super drawn out. Or at least, that's how it felt to me.

Avowed and Fable are the games I want from MS. The others don't really grab my attention.
Flight Sim looks amazing, but I know I'd just play it twice and forget about it.

That aside, the thinking behind this observation is not new.
I know not everyone is the same, but most kids don't appreciate the value of things. They just want to play.

I was like this. So were my friends.
Then I got older and had to account for my own spending. I didn't want to feel like my money was disappearing into the ether. I want something tangible in return for my money npw and I spend it on stuff I can enjoy in my own space, like consoles.

But again, not everyone is the same, and either way there's a place for the way everyone wants to play.
If mobile phones didn't kill consoles 15 years ago I don't see why tablets or screens on car seats would either. It's just another option.

Besides, when Switch 2 comes out this Christmas everyone and their Ma will want one.
It will be the same when PS6 comes out.

Helldivers II and Dragon's Dogma II for me this weekend.
I'm craving some Mario Kart actually. I might dabble...

I was looking at some of the YouTube reviews just now and they're giving it some seriously high praise. I've seen it get a 9.5/10 elsewhere too.
I'll stick with my order.

This review makes me second guess myself.
I came out of the demo feeling like I had been playing Entry Level Souls or a Souls game for people who were getting older and were not as nimble as they were when Demon's Souls came out, and tbh I enjoyed it based on that.

I found the parry system to be very forgiving, and dying to bosses didn't feel frustrating because you are constantly rewarded with exp depending on how much damage you manage to dish out during the fight.

I'm seeing it score higher elsewhere online. Meta score is currently 8/10 on PS5, 8.5/10 on PC. But if it's as repetitive as you're saying I might cancel it for now and see how it's looking next week.

Project Zomboid on Steam Deck and Helldivers II on PS5/Portal. I'm thinking I should finish Death Stranding finally too, but I'm kind of taking it easy until Khazan comes out.

Helldivers II and Midnight Murder Club. There's not much else for me now until Khazan releases.

In the past few months this has gone from a purchase I was very happy with to the best purchase I've made in years.
Can't wait to see what they do with the next handheld.

I was always curious about this game. But Midnight Murder Club just launched and I reckon that's more my speed.

I'm enjoying the demo atm. It's not super easy, but not as difficult as a FromSoftware game either, and the parry is very forgiving in a way that makes the combat flow nicely.
It feels like Entry Level Souls to me.

Shadow Gate grabbed my attention right away. I was always interested in the older games but never got around to playing them.

Helldivers II as usual.
I'm working on FF VII Rebirth hardmode too.
And maybe Stardew Valley on Steam Deck.

I'm on my first day of two weeks off work. I wouldn't mind playing something new.
I've been craving a dungeon delving experience. It might get be time to go back to Legendary Tales or Behemoth. Or even CyubeVR.

Co-Op I'm on board with. 100%
I don't have the reflexes or the time to get good at PvP anymore.

@themightyant Agreed, the LCD screen is excellent already. Also yes, the size and ratio of the screen are near perfect.

I have that muscle memory issue with the Steam Deck too actually. I suppose it's only natural having spent 30 years on PlayStation and 30+ on Nintendo.

@themightyant tbf the Steam Deck does a great job as a remote play device for PS5 and it's very east to setup, but the Portal is just, for me, so much nicer to hold and play on.
All it's missing in an oled screen. (The current screen feels top quality too though.)

I've been loving mine. I picked up the PowerA charging dock for it the other day. Looks class with the light on.

I can't play isometric games on a big screen because they give me virtigo or something, but they feel perfect on Portal. I probably wouldn't touch Diablo if not for the Portal.

@dschons Same. I'm definitely interested in Avowed, but other than that all I want is Fable.
Hoping the new game is going to be something special.

Surely if that's true it's a handheld.
Going so early against PS6 with a next gen console feels like a fumble waiting to happen.

I'd love if they did this for the Fable games.

I'll be starting Monster Hunter in the next hour or so after a few runs in Helldivers.

Just arrived this morning. Installing it as I type.
Only problem now is I have to sit at my desk all day pretending to be important.

Just got a steam deck a few weeks back and I love it.
I find myself playing retro or indie games on it. Stardew Valley mostly.
Although last night I remembered Dungeon Fighter Online is a thing. Might have to dabble.

But yeah I think giving it 6 months is exactly what I'll do. I was going to see how it runs on Steam Deck, but I'll just leave it for the inevitable PS5 version. I loved the Pillars of Eternity games so I'd be eager to get into Avowed.

@Titntin Does Avowed have any nice dungeon exploration? I'm craving some first person dungeoneering.

@naruball I've been thinking about going back to Forespoken and finishing it off recently. The traversal and combat in that game were something else.

Recently I've gotten the platinum trophies for Veilguard, Hogwarts Legacy and Helldivers II, which means the only thing I have left to do currently is finish off my Hard Mode run on FF Rebirth.
I'm not sure how badly I want to put myself through that though. I have two weeks off work coming up. Maybe I'll leave it for then...

For me I think Alien Isolation took the biscuit.
One of the androids gave me such a fright when I was playing that, my chest muscles cramped up and I screamed out loud from the fright and the cramp.

I still need to start Silent Hill 2. Game is too damn scary for me.

When Days Gone released a vocal internet crowd mocked it for not getting the same high rating at launch as other first party titles.

When the sequel was shot down before Sony even heard about it another vocal internet crowd said it was unforgiveable and Sony were the worst thing since tapeworms.

When the remaster with the upgrade path costing a tenner and the extra arcade mode was announced more vocal internet folk said it was a waste of resources/should have been Bloodborne.

Not spectacular, but lots of nice things in there all the same.

I saw the times for UK/IRE yesterday and more or less gave up on it.
Maybe Sunday morning I might get in for an hour or so to take a look.

This is what I was waiting for before putting this on my wishlist.

@Titntin I'll tell you what, the last 5 hours or so felt a lot like a classic Bioware game. I started from the point of no return after work tonight and just finished up now at close to 2am. Couldn't put it down once the final sequence began.
That ending did things to me that no game has done since Mass Effect 2.

I finished with one trophy missing for the plat too. Just nabbed that now before bed.

Glad I went back to it.

@pyrrhic_victory I would say wait and see for yourself before you commit. It has a lot of charm, but I personally would put it in the same ballpark as the FromSoftware games.
It has a lot more narrative though.

@pyrrhic_victory I was waiting for the PS5 release too (and I'll probably still get it on PS5 tbh), but figured I'd try it in Early Access.

It's good! I don't want to talk it up too much for fear of over hyping it, but I've enjoyed the first few hours of it. It's giving me the same vibes I had the first time I played Demon's Souls back on the PS3 in a way that few souls likes have been able to.

It's not as difficult though. Not yet at least.

The animations and settings are gorgeous to look at too, and the voice acting in the early cutscenes was unexpectedly good.

Didn't notice it tbh except for when I tried to launch Crunchyroll. Maybe I would have played 40 minutes of Helldivers at some point, but I had;

• No Rest for the Wicked and Stardew Valley on Steam Deck
• CyubeVR on PS5
• Excellent rugby to watch

@Medic_alert It was definitely a classic. One for the top 5 all time endings to a 6 Nations game.

@Marquez Agreed. Maybe on another weekend I'd have been a little more frustrated, but I've had a weekend of rugby to keep me ticking over.

@UnlimitedSevens I think they fixed that with a firmware update about 3-4 years ago. Shouldn't be a problem, unless your PS4 has been offline since then of course.
