Initially released into early access, the Sony-published PS5 party horror game Midnight Murder Club will now have a full release on 14th August 2025, it's been confirmed.
For those who didn't catch it the first time around, Midnight Murder Club is an online multiplayer game where players find themselves in a pitch-black mansion, armed with just a flashlight and a revolver. You have to take out the other players in the building while staying alive yourself, with traps and additional weapons to help you along the way.

The idea is that if you turn your flashlight on, you'll likely gain vital information about other players and the mansion you're in. However, doing so could give away your position and form the hint someone else in the match was looking for.
From Knockout City developer Velan Studios, the game unfortunately didn't catch on and build an audience in early access. While its PS5 player numbers are unknown, its concurrent player peak is just 178, and the game only attracts just north of 50 people at any one time during its most popular hours of play.

The hope will be Midnight Murder Club can make more of a splash with its full release on 14th August. When the early access version turns into the full release, a patch will add a new co-op PvE mode called Graveyard Shift.
It costs £15.99 / $19.99, and buying a copy allows you to invite up to five additional friends to play the game via a Guest Pass. Essentially, just one person in your friend group needs to buy the game, and then they can invite everyone else to play together.

Not a hope in hell. It looks like it’s got all the depth of a Kardashian, and it’s going to be yet another nasty little cash grab which dies within weeks.
I love this game. I've been playing with friends on pc and everyone that plays it loves it. Not so much fun with random people, but if one person buys it the other 5 play for free so it's not hard to convince your friends to try
These two comments basically sum up the polarized world of today 😅
Game is honestly so fun, but finding matches is really rough. Hopefully this brings in a bigger crowd
@Johnnycide I’d recommend trying it before saying that. It’s a fun and unique title. It’s one of the better live service games that Sony has associated with and it doesn’t appear to be trying to be a cash cow, but rather a fun online FPS experience trying something new. And plus, you can share the game with multiple friends for a relatively low cost of entry.
It actually sounds intriguing, i dont think there’s anything like it on the market. I shall wait for reviews
is ps plus required to play? if so not interested. when pc play online for free on the same servers, if sony wants my money, make everyone the same and let everyone play for free, or make it exclusive. feels like playstation players are getting screwed to me.
@lazymike PS Plus is required on PS5 for this game, but of course, it's not required on PC.
@Questionable_Duck money saved for something better then
@Questionable_Duck servers don't pay for themselves
I highly recommend it. Playing with a group of people all using mics is hilarious yet extremely tense, especially with proximity chat and some good headphones. It’s really one of those games you need to try before forming an opinion because the trailers will never do it justice.
Might have been smart to include this on plus to try to have a decent install base.
This was actually really good fun. The servers were a big whack though as I kept getting put in with French players so couldn’t understand what they were saying. I’d definitely give it a whirl though
Sounds cool and I’m sure I’d play if I was actually interested in multiplayer
Whatis graveyard shift mode like?
@lazymike facts. that’s why i play helldivers 2 on PC and any other future multiplayer games $ony will release. i haven’t re-subbed to ps plus in years.
Lol i read midnight club 😭😭 for a second my hope went to 100 then immediately to 0 again
I'm looking forward to trying the PvE mode.
It's a great little title. Such a shame more people don't seem to be aware of it.
It's a fun game when there is a full lobby with mics; granted that isn't as often as you'd like but it does happen. The game has a simple concept that is executed really well so I'm excited to see there are more plans in store for it. I think it could yet catch fire if just a few things fall into place for it.
