Been playing this kinda non-stop since picking up my black PS Portal over a week ago. We'll see if I'll stick around long enough to go for platinum; chances are I'll eventually be done with the game and move on prior to the free updates. But as someone who wasn't a big fan of Vampire Survivors, I'm pleasantly surprised how much I like this one.
Got myself a black PS Portal last Sunday (so I can play in the comfort of my bedroom); so far the only game I've been playing on it is Ball x Pit. I wasn't actually expecting to like it as much as it turns out I do (given I could never fully get myself into Vampire Survivors). Currently, my furthest area is Fungal Forest (just need one more cog to access the next area). I'm in no rush to beat it, taking my time getting character clears in the unlocked areas whilst gradually building and upgrading my base camp.
That said, I might consider starting something else on Portal soon so that Ball x Pit doesn't burn me out too quickly. Maybe Sword of the Sea from the Game Catalogue, or I might have a look at current PS Store sales later.
Currently focused on Brilliant Diamond (Switch); on my way to getting the 3rd gym badge soon. I now have 3 pokemon locked in for my story team (Mothim, Ambipom, and shiny Golduck (I stumbled upon as a Psyduck in the Grand Underground); currently breeding for a Chatot, might consider getting either a Mr. Mime or an Alakazam, and will later get a Lucario.
Also near the end of Lumines Arise' journey mode. I'm still very new to its gameplay, so I'll need to play the training mode more thoroughly afterwards.
Not gonna lie, I've played through Tetris Effect's Journey mode on three platforms now (Switch, PC, PS+ Extra), and there's definitely a few stages from there that still has that power to make me a little tearful, in a good way (Forest Dawn and Celebration stages comes to mind). I've already pre-ordered Arise, so no doubt I'll be looking forward to being beautifully moved to tears again.
More of the usual post-game grind in Fantasy Life i, namely hosting more Treasure Groves via multiplayer.
Also continuing my progress with Doraemon edition of Picross on Switch (on No Assist difficulty). Finished mega picross mode last night, thus starting colour picross mode. Not sure if I'll be able to finish that and also clip picross mode ahead of playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 next week, but no big deal of course.
Still addicted to Fantasy Life i, main focus (I'm well into post-game already) is grinding more materials from Treasure Groves as well as legendary materials from Ginormosia, both via multiplayer.
If I'm not playing FLi, I'll be attempting more C10 Titan runs in Monster Train 2 (on Steam Deck).
@Anti-Matter Be mindful, what you typed there was a big spoiler!
Anyways, I'm back for more Fantasy Life i post-game tonight. Likely more Treasure Groves (on the hardest difficulty) via multiplayer, mainly for the purpose of levelling up my Mercenary/Paladin lives a bit more before eventually switching back to Hunter as my permanent combat life.
@old_gamer74 To many, Slay the Spire still remains the original and best roguelite deckbuilder out there. No two characters or runs are the same, and is both easy to pick up, yet hard to master. Monster Train (1 & 2) plays similarly, whilst adding a tower defence mechanic to the mix. Personally, I prefer MT over StS, mainly because MT runs feel easier in my opinion, but you really cannot go wrong with either. Speaking of:
I finally achieved platinum trophy in Fantasy Life i back on Thursday (my 4th platinum); wonderful RPG from start to finish. I'll likely keep playing (albeit a bit less until the eventual DLC update), but in the meantime I double dipped on Monster Train 2 (having already rolled credits on Steam Deck) and cleared my first run this morning. I cannot say this enough, the soundtrack is fantastic.
All Lives already at Hero rank (highest rank), all buddies befriended (with their affinity maxed out), my next objectives now is to fully prep my current combat team's equipment prior to taking on a certain set of challenges (might be a spoiler, not sure), and also tackle some more Treasure Groves in multiplayer and hopefully beat the toughest difficulty there.
Fantasy Life i for me; already in post-game, making steady progress on maxing affinity with all buddies (33 buddies maxed out already) and hopefully I'll be able to reach Hero rank as Blacksmith before the end of today (kinda sucks how some crafting recipes (needed to reach Hero rank) require some RNG regarding item drops exclusive to the Treasure Grove or Ginormosia merchants, but thankfully I enjoy myself some Grove runs, so it doesn't bother me much).
All Strangelings acquired already, aiming to max out friendship with everyone eventually (revert three strangelings, adventure with them until friendship is maxed out, rinse and repeat). Think I'm about halfway through the process now. Other than that, I'm already at post-game; just taking my sweet time progressing all Lives from Master to Hero rank (I've done Farmer and Hunter already); I ought to make better armour as Blacksmith and reach that Life's Hero rank sooner than later.
Only one game matters to me right now and that's the brilliant Fantasy Life i.
Finally finished the story last night, but I'm far from done yet. My next main focus now is to spruce up my base camp even more before adventuring out with 3 more allies I recently befriended and maxing out their affinity stats (I've maxed out affinity with the other 15(?) already). Raising all 14 Lives to Hero rank can wait a bit.
My two picks from this list are Monster Hunter Wilds and Fantasy Life i. The former I eventually stopped after maybe the 110+ hour mark (after finishing High Rank), as I did feel a bit disappointed by the relatively small monster roster, so felt little motivated to continue. Otherwise, the gameplay is solid, including full voice acting (hunter included). I'm currently around the 115+ hour mark in Fantasy Life i (nearing end of story, currently progressing all Lives to Master rank) and I'm still crazy addicted. Let's hope that continues for some time. My third pick for this year (not on list) is Monster Train 2. Fantastic sequel, with an epic soundtrack to boot.
It's more Fantasy Life i for me; still crazy addictive it's not even funny lol. I recently unlocked Artist (last of the 14 Lives), so am currently raising all lives to Expert rank before continuing with more story (might even reach Master Farmer in the process if luck is on my side).
Just like the 3DS original, Fantasy Life i is just pure comfort food.
When I'm in absolutely no rush to progress with the story, and just want to indulge in Life progression, sidequests and such, that's a sign of a good RPG right there.
@Nalim I'm 9 hours in, and I'm simply refusing to advance the story until I have all available lives to apprentice as well; I just have Cook, Paladin, Mercenary and Magician I need to sort out.
This game is just as charming and addictive as I remember the original to be; I've spent 600ish hours in the original, so that's probably a good take of how much I might spend in this sequel too.
Likely nothing for today, but that's because I'm hyped to starting Fantasy Life i tomorrow (pre-ordered for Early Access). Think I've already decided I'll start with the Miner life first.
Likely taking a break from PS5 very temporarily; I got my third platinum trophy last night thanks to Logiart Grimoire, so will just continue playing Crystal Project on Steam Deck for now (turn-based RPG) until Sunday next weekend, by which point I'll be diving right into Fantasy Life i.
Hopefully before Fantasy Life i releases later this month (I've pre-ordered the Deluxe edition on PS5 already), I'm aiming to grab Logiart Grimoire's platinum, having grabbed all achievements in the Steam version already. Such a sweet underrated puzzler, and easily my favourite picross title to date.
Meanwhile, playing a surprisingly wonderful indie RPG on Steam Deck called Crystal Project; so far I've cleared 8 crystals and my team's nearing Lv.40, just casually grinding atm so I can afford some better gear.
Whilst I came in pretty optimistic (being a childhood game I was never able to beat 20 years ago), I'm currently past halfway on the third island, and the difficulty seems to have spiked unfairly. As in underwater enemies shooting projectiles sometimes faster then Croc can swim to avoid, and even running through some 5-crystal doors causes Croc to immediately fall off a platform upon entry. Granted, mechanical mishaps may have been forgiven back in its day, but it might be hard to forgive them now. I'll try and endeavour to beat this, but yeah it's pretty rough.
Slight correction, Logiart isn't Jupiter's latest title, I believe that's the Doraemon version of picross released last month (on Switch). I'm not sure yet if there's trophies up for grabs inc. platinum, but I might be tempted going for the double-dip; having cleared this on Steam already, and also Emil is simply adorable. How could you not like that wizard? Know that this is picross made by the devs that know picross best. You can never go wrong with Jupiter.
I sadly wasn't a big fan of this level; the ability used seems a bit slow-paced for speedrunning with. Tick Tock Shock is likely my favourite level on the other hand.
Unfortunate article spoiler aside, liking the new speedrun level as usual (as with the others, wasn't a big fan of Thrust or Bust though).
Level took me quite a few deaths to figure out the end part in particular, eventually managing a time of 32.999 seconds (I could probably aim for sub 32 perhaps).
Is this judgement of 'easy' just based on the first few hours though aka Low Rank, as compared to the notably tougher High Rank and Master Rank respectively?
Main focus will be more Wilds beta. Not sure if I want to commit to maining Insect Glaive again as I've done in past entries; suppose another weapon will be my calling? I can only experiment this weekend and find out.
Been also chilling with Darkest Dungeon lately (already beat it on Switch and Steam, so I'm no stranger to its difficulty), only to kill time prior to Wilds. Playing with all DLC enabled, so I should hurry up and start Crimson Court soon.
@Kiefer-Sutherland There's more after you beat the initial boss (Chatacabra). Alma at base camp will unlock you the Doshaguma quest, and once you beat that you'll be able to take on other bosses too (Balahara, Rey Dau, Gypceros and Arkveld).
I honestly didn't think Capcom would consider a beta extension, but that's sweet they're doing it anyway. That said, I've had my beta fill for this weekend, and not sure how many more hours I'll put in for the next. But I'm hyped for the full release regardless!
Depending on if PSN is back up later today, it's more Monster Hunter Wilds beta for me.
Managed to fit in a couple Gypceros hunts last night. I'll likely refuse to hunt the flagship (Arkveld) though, so as to save that surprise for the full release. Happy weekend y'all!
I'm still betting on the second unannounced content for the 2nd beta being the ability to customise your seikret. A 6th monster for the beta (after confirming Gypceros) might be a little too much.
Myself who's especially loved Super Mario Galaxy (1 especially) as my favourite 3D platformer, I'll admit Astro has officially taken that crown now. All trophies 100% and no regrets whatsoever. A true platformer masterpiece.
I'm currently prepping to go on holiday next week, so might not be able to play much this weekend. Will try and fit in some more Patapon Remastered and a bit more Astro Bot (currently on my second playthrough) if time allows.
Beat the level last night and had an absolute blast with it; I even squealed with delight seeing a certain cameo bot finally meets Astro at last
Btw, 3 more trophies are added with this update. Whilst I got them all last night, somehow one said trophy failed to register as having been unlocked until this morning (I got the trophy notification, but it was still 'locked' looking at my trophies menu). Not sure if a glitch or if I was just unlucky lol.
I've been strangely obsessed in chasing faster times for just this level lol (my current best time is 42.682 w/motion controls, I should really try with said controls disabled for a change I suppose). And regarding the last couple monkey bars, launch high enough off the second to last bar, and you can skip the final bar entirely.
