Re: The Last of Us 2 Is Trying to Create the Most 'Complex, Nuanced Character' in Gaming

Scollurio

@Splat I don't get it. I don't care for gender or sexuality when it comes to videogames. It's fictional characters and as long as they are well written and believable in their own universe, I don't mind any of that. I just despise when politics, gender and sexuality take a place in the spotlight front and center above all else, no matter what direction any of it goes. But so far, I don't think that's the case here, it might just be "too grim" for my personal taste, as I enjoy unwinding and taking a breather from the real world with all that political garbage and people devoid of any skill or willingness to argue like grown ups just throwing tantrums.

Fell in love with the dynamic between Ellie and Joel in the first one, played through it multiple times on PS3 and PS4 but I have to admit, all this "dire, stressful world"-thing going on (I get it, it's the world they live in) might have me "stressed out of my comfort zone". Meanwhile I'm playing my Switch with more joyful games and will watch the inevitable cutscene-compilation on Youtube some day. That said: I wish them all the success in the world.

Re: PS5 Devkit Design Leaks, Already in Studios' Hands

@Heavyarms55 Don't forget architecture. Where I love they're pulling up countless flat-blocks and they all look the same, with differing colors in balconies... but that's about it. Awful. In 20 years, when all the shiny paint has turned into "street-dust-gray" it will look like in Bulgaria 1980s. Classy.

Re: Soapbox: In Defence of Death Stranding

@iamtylerdurden1 True, but that doesn't make them automatically good and opposing those are a million cookie-cutter titles by the likes of ubisoft, ea and activision. There are certainly "creative" and "fresh" triple AAA games, but really they're not as common as they used to be.

Re: Rumour: PS5's Graphics Processor Is a Beast

Scollurio

@kyleforrester87 No no no no, not at all. I just see a sharp decline in creativity in triple-A-huge-blockbusters. Especially all "non-Nintendo" companies. The indiescene is RIPE with good ideas and that kinda was the point of my argument, no matter how good the graphics, the IDEA makes a good game!

Re: Rumour: PS5's Graphics Processor Is a Beast

Scollurio

@kyleforrester87 What about them? I saw them but they didn't peak my interest. At the moment I'm enthralled by BATMAN (1989) and Castlevania Legends on the Gameboy!

It really IS funny, everyone seems to be waiting for good games coming out when there are thousands of good games already available! So I started to decide working on my backlog, from 1987!

Re: Soapbox: In Defence of Death Stranding

Sold my PS4 a while ago to focus on RL, but this article was so well worded, it speaks from my soul. The reason (mainly) I even COULD get rid of my PS4 was exactly that: The predictability and "sameness" of all the triple A titles!

Re: Rumour: PS5's Graphics Processor Is a Monster

Scollurio

I recently started playing GAMEBOY games again. So... this is of little concern to me. I'd rather know, if the gaming industry will come out of its creative slump, what the future of free-to-play titles will be, what great indies there are coming and so on. The LEAST I'm excited for better graphics to be honest.

Re: Need for Speed Heat Will Turn Up the Temperature This Week

Scollurio

Everything's "dark and gritty" these days. Picard is gonna be this way, Star Trek Reboot was this way in general and don't get me started on the crap that is "Discovery". sigh

It's a dangerous political agenda seeping into our games.

Without knowing a thing about this new Need for Speed game I'm certain, judging by that screenshot, that the hero of the game is a (probably lesbian) female, saving the day.

Everyone knows wahmen can't drive!

Re: Grand Theft Auto V Is the Best Selling Game of 2019 So Far in the UK

Scollurio

Well deserved imho. Many of the "new" games just fail to impress, are devoid of content and stuffed with PC-messaging, lootboxes and micro transactions. I do know, that GTA basically has "pay to win" with the shark cards, but still it offers SO MUCH to do and only keeps on growing. It is truly the best game I've played in the past couple of years.

Re: PS5 Is 'Hard to Get Excited About', Says Platinum Boss

Scollurio

I'd argue that we've reached a technological threshold where the possibilities are somewhat limitless. All that counts is profitability and this will severely limit creative freedom. Look at the many great indie games out there, they won't need super fast SSDs or ultra high res 24K HDR PRO yaddayadda crap.

Sorry.

Re: PS5 Is 'Hard to Get Excited About', Says Platinum Boss

Scollurio

Well I perfectly see where he is coming from. I've a hard time since a year or so to get excited for any of the big upcoming games, regardless of platform. If those games would look even nicer or load faster, it wouldn't change a thing that I'm not excited.

I do think though that everything cloud (especially gaming) is the cancer.

Re: Sony Awarding ANTHEM Refunds Due to Crashing Issues

Scollurio

@gmxs Just watched his video concerning this on the pot an hour ago. And I don't even know him. Found it rather odd. In my opinion EA/Bioware should really roll out the red carpet to each and every customer they can get.

"If you don't like our game, don't buy it." - was the best advice (from DICE concerning Battlefield V) to give in general.

Re: ANTHEM's 1.03 Update Promises Fixes and Stability

Scollurio

Been watching a friend play it, I took notes of bugs and within 3 hours of gameplay we encountered 5 minor bugs (characters glitching out, warping, disappearing) and 2 gamebreaking bugs like someone before mentioned, when talking to certain NPCs the game just crashes. But it doesn't happen all the time and not with always the same NPCs.

I don't buy the really big evil corp games anymore for quite a while now. Glad I didn't waver on this one.
