The white-hot buzz surrounding Super Smash Bros-style platform fighter MultiVersus has cooled quite a lot since its launch during the summer, but it’s still a fun free-to-play brawler that’s worth the storage space on either your PS5 or PS4. It’s been a long time coming, but Season 2 is underway starting today – and developer Player First Games has peeled back the curtain on what you can expect moving forwards.

Perhaps the most pertinent information of all is that a new character, Marvin the Martian, will be joining the fray in the not-too distant future. While a date hasn’t been officially confirmed, he’ll “soon” be making his way to the game, according to a Warner Bros spokesperson. Interestingly, he’s also said to be “one of” the newcomers you can expect this season, suggesting there may yet be more.

A fresh map will also follow imminently, this time inspired by Game of Thrones. “Soon you’ll be able to hurl your opponents away from the Iron Throne while humming an all-new remix of the awesome Game of Thrones theme music which has been composed with multiple sections that can transition dynamically depending on what mayhem is taking place in the match,” the publisher said.

Of course, also beginning today is a new Battle Pass, which once again includes both free and premium tracks. Some of the highlights this time include Baker Street Tom & Jerry and Astronaut Velma, two premium new skins you can unlock by progressing through the levels. You’ll also find the usual array of icons, banners, taunts, and badges.

Is all of this enough to bring you back to the fray? A new challenger awaits in the comments section below.
