Video game hardware spending in October grew 36% when compared a year ago, to $351M. Switch 2 was again able to offset declines across Switch (-52% versus a year ago), Xbox Series (-37%) and PlayStation 5 (-22%). Nintendo Switch 2 sold 328k units in October. It is 68% ahead of the sales pace set by the original Nintendo Switch and is 3% ahead of PlayStation 4’s previous record velocity. October spending on ASUS PC Portable hardware devices increased by 4.8x compared to a year ago and is now 30% higher year-to-date.
@nomither6 Its better than the OG Switch, which was already a good console. As a farther its much more convenient than playing on the TV these days and I can just pick up and play whenever i have a few minutes due to the sleep mode etc. Its brilliant, would highly recommend
Its hard to disagree, especially as they seem intent on just pumping out cookie cutter sequels that don't hit the same heights as the originals. Done it all before and its been getting tedious the last few years
@Mikeg1965 Careful, my comment got deleted for saying exactly this! Not only was the review total nonsense, now they are deleting comments calling them out for it, instead of admitting their mistake. Really bad from PS
you cannot even do a launch discount without their approval and it is "very limited." That's right.... You can't do the thing that ever other platform does meaning the Platform X owners will always get the worst deal!
Oh but don't worry. There is a way to guarantee you get featured! All you need to do is spend a VERY reasonable minimum of 25,000 USD to get featured. Oh and then 30% of your subsequent earnings....Bargain!
Now when your game is on the platform, likely without any support from Platform X, you may think, no problem, I can sync up discounts on Platform X with Steam and others...Wrong! Discounts are invite only and invites are also "very limited."
It's been literal years since we could put a title of ours in discount, and I spoke to some other VERY POPULAR devs today and they had the same experience. So even if your game does well at launch and thrives on other platforms, you may still never be invited? Y? who knows?
And from Paul Tassi
I didn’t realize that there would be this arduous process for a game developer to need permission or an invitation to lower the price of their own game.
@SeaDaVie Sony do set prices, especially sales prices. Lots of developers have complained about this the last few years
The UK equivalent lawsuit was given the go-ahead in 2023 and earlier this year was given the green light to proceed to trial. It's not as frivolous as you make out
This article completely misses the point. The same court action is happening in the UK aswell with that consumer rights guy leading it
In the summons sent to Sony by Stichting Massaschade & Consument, there are two core accusations: the exclusion of competition, and the exploitation of consumers and game developers. The organisation claims PlayStation players are entirely dependent on Sony and its prices due to its closed ecosystem, while developers have limited commercial freedom with Sony setting prices.
Could just report the news instead of butchering it to try and defend a corporation?
The art style looks like a cheap mobile game. I wish Bungie luck but it was about as "meh" and uninspiring a reveal as I have ever seen. Generic shooter which costs money in a market dominated by free titles. Is that you Concord 2.0?

The problem with their shows recently is that Sony are so quiet, when they finally do say something you expect it to be worth while. But what we usually get amounts to about a blog post. Sony made this problem for themselves having no shows at all or poor shows for years now. It's not the fans fault they are failing to deliver. Hopefully in the summer they have something worthwhile to show us, even if it's not all first party. The shows need to be better
Unless budgets come down, they will not stop the pc ports. Selling to one single console is not a big enough market anymore. I actually expect day and day in the next few years. They need a bigger market to sell their games to, they have been telling us this for years.
Sad to see a game get hate and more dislikes than likes just because a character looks a certain way. People are rubbish but is this a suprise to anyone anymore
Give people the options. I mentioned before release that the lack of cpu upgrade and the 2ms frame time cost of PSSR (60fps is 16ms) means that some games would have issues like this, alot of people did.
But forcing people to play a worse version on the pro console needs fixing and being able to revert back to fsr/old settings is essential.
Why so many articles when there is very little hype around for the pro at all. For the PS5 it makes a little more sense but the last few days have been borderline psychotic with the hyperbole
But it's the 16.7TF of GPU compute performance that is new information. Sony has not actually given any kind of TFLOPs number for the PlayStation 5 Pro, but prior leaks have suggested around 33.5TF - a somewhat exaggerated number that arrived with AMD RDNA 3 architecture with its dual issue FP32 functionality. Sony's confirmation of 16.7TF suggests that the dual issue FP32 support is not in the PlayStation 5 Pro - not that this is too much of a big deal as it has very, very little impact on gaming performance.
Xbox Series hardware spending dropped 54% year-on-year, with PS5 (-45%) and Switch (-23%) also showing sharp declines. YTD hardware spending is now 30% lower than a year ago, at $2.5 billion.
Disapointing to see so many people stil try to justify the cash grab. And people wonder why the industry is on its knees, stop supporting this kind of thing, be better.
Poor remake, of a game nobody asked to be remade, sold at an extortionate price. Any people here are wondering why it failed. Sony needs to start bringing worthwhile content to pc and not old, worn out trash everyone has played already. And the heads at Sony know this based on some of their previous comments. They need PC day and date for it to be a sucess
People are beyond tired of all the lazy, low effort cash grabs Sony keeps putting out. They are losing their credibility by the day
Going to miss my guy Jin, my username was named after him after all. But I'm looking forward to Yotai, and don't have a problem with a female lead if I was honest. Yes I would have preferred Jin, but it's a non issue as long as the game is good and they improve some of the Ubisoft elements of the first.
When it cost over $200million for Spiderman Miles Morales (a small dlc on an already developed map) I have no idea why people don't think Concord could cost $400million.
the game had a development budget of $81.7 million and a marketing budget of $25.1 million, while the licensing fee for Marvel being $106.5 million.
Even without the licensing fee the budget is over $100million for a game that was what, 75% recycled content?
400million is not only possible, but extremely likely.
Concord is the biggest failure in gaming history and nothing else comes anywhere near it.

@get2sammyb it really is trash in my opinion, that's why I cancelled my subscription, as I voted with my wallet.

Re: Sony's Latest First-Party Release Is Struggling to Do Concord Numbers on PC
It's a poor lego game and i just don't think Hoirzon as an IP is anywhere near as popular as Sony think it is.
Part of the reason for the sales numbers the series has is all the console bundles both games received, which inflated the numbers massively.
It's just a middle of the road IP and nowhere near the juggernaut Sony think it is
