@TanookiLeaf @GreatKwyjibo you don't need an xbox to play Starfield, or any other xbox game for that matter.
Well done Sony but is the sales increase that suprising considering all the sales and promotions PlayStation have been running recently and the stock issues this time last year. It seems pretty obvious
@CutchuSlow "koei tecmo don't even publish to xbox. They're PC, Nintendo and PS only. So won't hurt xbox if sony bought them. It would hurt Nintendo and PC players tho."
Koei Tecmo do publish on xbox mate, what are you saying lol. Things like Dynasty Warriors, Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Warriors Orochi, Wo Long etc etc. They even publish on gamepass day 1 like Wo Long
Well done Bethesda on your sucess. And this week we have a heavyweight tussle between mario wonder and Spiderman, both releasing on the same day. All 3 platforms are doing well, its great to see as a fan
@ED_209 why would people think that when you don't even need an Xbox to play xbox games
Now it's been confirmed that Kotick will leave ABK at the end of the year, I really REALLY hope he doesn't become the next CEO of PlayStation. That would be awful
Grainger games, Blockbuster, EB, Gamestop have all closed for good near(ish) to me.
5 GAME stores have closed within 45minutes and we are left with 2 completely pointless tiny satellite shops in Sports Direct stores that sell more Funko pops than games.
Tesco, Sainsburys etc no longer sell games in store
The only brick and mortar stores i can think of that still sell games are Currys and Smyths and the sections are not good
As someone who still buys and prefers physical media, the writing is sadly on the wall. Its going to end up like PC gaming in the not too distant future
Yes there was. The original contract was for COD and all other ABK games, the one that was signed only included COD. It was well reported, not sure how you missed it tbh.
"Microsoft’s original deal offer to Sony in January 2022 included keeping “all existing Activision console titles on Sony, including future versions in the Call of Duty franchise or any other current Activision franchise on Sony through December 31st, 2027.” The deal terms have clearly changed since that opening offer, with an extension to 10 years that’s limited to just Call of Duty."
I don't have a hatred for the guy, just stating a fact. Jim is a fellow Geordie and Newcastle fan actually.
If the buy out goes ahead, would it even come to Playstation? My guess would be no after the stunts they attempted with regulators.
Jim Ryan turned down the all games contract and decided to fight the merger, and ended up signing a COD only contract once he burned all his bridges...
I am as happy as anyone that the live service game crashed and burned, my only concern is the amount of resources they have already took from single player games.
I imagine several studios are not going to have anything to show us for years, if not almost the entire generation. And as a gamer that sucks
@jimbouk Ronin is easily one of my most hyped games next year, I am a huge team ninja fan. Wo long was also awesome and one of my favourite games of the whole year
@jimbouk the article is discussing Sonys internal studios and the issues they are having, which is what my comment related to. Wolverine is the only Sony developed game you listed, which was my whole point lol
What does team ninja or kojima productions have to do with anything about the article
@jimbouk the only one of them that is made by Sony is Wolverine. The article is discussing Sonys first party studios. You kind of made my point for me thanks lol
This perfectly explains the radio silence and poor showcases for the last couple of years.
It's what alot of us had feared, that they are not holding everything back or saving stuff for after the ABK deal closes, they just have nothing to show and only live service garbage in the pipeline
Even if they change direction now, it will be years and years until we see the fruits of their labour.
I predicted the moment it was announced Aspyr were developing it, this would be a disaster. I tried to warn people. Never understood why anyone was hyped, after that announcement. The ports they have done have been truly awful
@Deityjester I agree. But it doesn't look like they are going to change it, as its been like it all day. I guess engagement is more important than integrity
@Stamnoso nowhere does it say anything remotely like Playstation saved FO76, even in the original article from Thegamer. If anything the headline should read "Fallout 76 was nearly canned" or something similar, as that is the truth, just like Thegamer used.
Judging by the comments above, they succeeded in fanning the flames once again (and i guess alot of people didnt read the article properly or check the sources.)
I just expected alot better from Pushsquare, but I have noticed them starting to do this more and more recently, and I am not a fan of misinformation. Its another reason why the comment sections are getting worse and worse, as the content is actively encouraging it.
I understand Playstation leaning opinions on a Playstation centric website, but passing this off as News, with the fabricated fanboy headline, is pretty bad and deserved calling out. Glad to know I am far from the only one to see through it
I can't help but feel the title is a bit misleading and hyperbole after reading the email in the article
It says "ps now can help support the game gaining relevance" not that ps now saved the game. Infact nowhere in the email does it say that..so I'm not sure where you got the headline from, at all
The title of the original article you linked on thegamer seems way more accurate "Phil Spencer Considered Ditching Fallout 76" infact they never mention PlayStation saving the game at all in the original article...
Are you just trying to fan the flames for engagement? Not a very Good look
@MrMagic
"Should the deal finally close, cloud streaming rights to existing and future Activision Blizzard games released over the next 15 years will (surprisingly) fall under Ubisoft’s control. Those rights will then stay with Ubisoft “in perpetuity.”
The in perpetuity bit means they will always have the rights for those 15years worth of games, not that the deal lasts longer than 15years. It just means they don't lose the rights to those games after 15years.
But after 15years, the streaming rights for new games not in the 15 year agreement go to Microsoft and any other games in the future
@CielloArc one to check the new remedies, one for the final decision, as mentioned in the article. The leak was irrelevant to this decision as the CMA will already have had acceess to all the information from the leak for months and months
@Nem GSD provide the sales data for Europe each and every month, they are the official sales figures. Why is this so difficult for you. This is not a new thing lol
The game was a huge sucess, who cares? We should all be supporting the games industry
@Nem i didn't make the game, so im not sure why i would be impressed.
I was just correcting your false information with some facts. They are not my numbers, they are the official sales numbers for Europe from GSD. You are the one spinning false narratives that are easily disproven with just the most basic Google search.
The sales data was widely reported if you would prefer a different website to prove you are incorrect? I dunno why anyone would try to argue official sales data but here we are lol
@Nem the link I provided includes Steam sales, and it was the biggest new IP launch of the year and the 5th best selling launch of the year. The complete opposite of what you are trying to say lol
So you don't believe official sales data. Because it doesn't suit your false narrative? Weird
@Nem they tell you where the data comes from at the bottom of the article. Its the official sales data for Europe from GSD. It includes physical and digital and there is nothing more reliable or accurate for Europe. It had a huge launch, that's what the data proves, nothing like the picture you tried to paint
"GSD digital data includes games from participating companies sold via Steam, Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, Nintendo Eshop. Major participating companies are Activision Blizzard, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Codemasters, Electronic Arts, Embracer Group (including Gearbox, Koch Media, Sabre Interactive), Focus Entertainment, Konami, Marvellous Games, Microids, Microsoft (including Bethesda), Milestone, Nacon, Paradox Interactive, Quantic Dream, Sega, Sony, Square Enix, Take-Two, Ubisoft and Warner Bros. Nintendo and 505 Games are the notable absentees, alongside smaller studios."
It only doesn't include digital data if the title has an * next to it
@Nem that's not accurate, at all. It was a huge sucess.
"The Xbox game, which is also on PC, became the fastest-selling new IP of the year, and the fifth fastest-selling game of the year overall. Its launch sales are ahead of Final Fantasy 16 and Resident Evil 4, but behind Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo IV, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor."
And that doesnt include gamepass numbers. It had a huge launch.
I support console manufacturers buying other devs/publishers to help them compete or fill a gap in their portfolio. But I would draw the line here. Console manufacturers should not be allowed to purchase each other, and i doubt they would be allowed to by regulators, as it would be very bad for the industry. We need all 3 console manufacturers to be strong in the market. Competition is kind. Lucky this seems like just a nothing corporate email, and not something that will be happening in the near future, so that's a little reassuring
I got the platinum for spiderman but could not bring myself to even finish miles as it was just more of the same and I got bored. Let's hope this one adds a bit more variety and isn't so "ubisoft"
It was a good show, FF7 looks good. But was anything noteworthy really announced? It was more updates to games we have seen before several times. It's what stopped the show being anything more than meh/good
We are still waiting for some kind of roadmap after no showcase last year, 2 SoP and a showcase this year. It's bizarre
