Damn, This 'Advanced' Ninja Gaiden 4 Gameplay Is Absolutely Nuts

Ninja gaiden 4 is going to be a excellent video game.word up son

That giant drill weapon is made specifically for the stealth segments of the game but it's nice to see it can also be useful for direct assault.

Combat looks exhilarating, but so far I'm not liking these environments; kinda flat and lifeless. Really hope they have more organic levels like forests/mountains/villages etc.

My drill pierces the heavens.

Going to be my GOTY I would think, but I am highly biased as a Ninja Gaiden fanatic

@captainsandman If it's like previous Ninja Gaiden games, it's going to be incredibly punishing at times. The person playing this is also seriously skilled (I assume it's a developer or experienced play tester).

But this game will have difficulty options that are designed to teach you the mechanics.

@captainsandman Yeah, the NG games are known for being challenging, the person playing is really good which is why this is titled advanced gameplay.

Maybe, playing it on GP anyway but to much to play atm, will try it at some point. Never really liked the hack and slash/combo genre.

Looks fun but very much a PS2-style romp - run around bland generic environments slicing and dicing to nu-metal, interspersed I’m sure by sone techno-babble story around an evil shadow organisation running a corrupt world.

I could be wrong, and if I’m right, it could still be a fantastic old school arcade blast.

I'm just not feeling the aesthetics of this... and where is he keeping all those weapons?

Prefer the simplicity of 1 or 2 weapons, with extensive move lists and utility, to perfect over time. Old NG forced you to pick your load out at checkpoints and run with it - this is just feeling a bit too 'everything at once' for my tastes.

@Hyena_socks That's what Ninja Gaiden is. People playing the series to slice and dice and feels like a badass super ninja. No need for story drama or long ass cutscenes with characters yapping about morals. It goes straight to gameplay from start to finish.

hope the claw weapons are back

@PuppetMaster that’s a fair point - I just remember the earlier games being interesting worlds, intense gameplay and atmospheric in their own ways. But I was like 14 when I first played it, over 20 years ago, so perhaps not the most reliable critic.

But it does look fun, if the gameplay stays diverse, fast paced and challenging it’ll be a blast!

@Hyena_socks Ninja Gaiden trilogy for NES has a lot of platforming. But the 3D reboot focus more on combat with a bit of platforming to give players some diverse and cooldown moments.

From the trailer, this one also has some platforming like dodging a train or jumping from wall to wall.

I'm sure this game will have a good chunk of enemy variations to keep the combat fresh and challenging.

Looks really cool but I don’t think I have it in me anymore to just endlessly wail on enemy grunts for hours. It’s kind of why I couldn't play the new god of wars, the newer Resident Evil games (enemies are utter bullet sponges), etc. I like things to be just a tad more realistic. I’m slicing enemies with a sword so I expect them to cut up a little easier is all.
I think I’m just not the market for this type of game anymore and I hate admitting that.
I also wish the white room would stay stained with red blood a little longer though haha would love that white room to change to completely red after so I can turn around as I leave and be like “oh sh*t I did that”
That’s next gen in my eyes. Game looks awesome though! Very stylish.
