"rethink some of your September gaming" - My September gaming will be whatever backlog game I'm working on from 1-2+ years ago, as usual. If this gets good reviews it will go on my wishlist to be played in a year or more from now. The patient gamers lifestyle
@psmr blank spot as in you've never played the series before? Not sure why more of the same would be an issue then. Or perhaps I misunderstood what you meant
I mostly remember this game for the Bond Episodes that were completely disconnected from what was happening in the story. Like going for coffee with someone that just tried to assassinate me in the previous story chapter.
@Robamuffin yeah I'm kind of torn because it's good to hear different perspectives. But once it was apparent that the game had souls like elements, it really should have been handed off to someone who doesn't hate the genre.
I wish he would have said instead "Hey guess what? You don't actually need to go for the platinum if you find it to be too much. Move on. Play something else."
um sorry to be that guy but "I have wracked up over 1,500 hours with the series...... I’ve bought comics, I’ve watched my fair share of the lore daddy himself, MyNameIsByf, and I even go back to the original gameplay reveal of Destiny from time to time, just to feel something." and "I was never, by any means, a hardcore player" are very conflicting statements!
@Propaperpusher I don't like roguelikes either, but it seems like you think this type of game shouldn't exist. There are plenty of games that fit what you're looking for. Go play those instead.
@dskatter Pretty much. Reminds me of another article recently where the devs that worked on The Last of Us multiplayer were saying it was going to be the greatest mp game ever, and it's an absolutey tragedy that it was cancelled...
Man, this really sounds good, but I'm so hesitant about the roguelite structure. The idea of having to repeat the same levels over and over is just so unappealing to me.
@Max_the_German I don't understand why using Activision, Bethesda, or Blizzard for publishing would make it less significant? Those are all owned by Microsoft. Just branding?
Nice to see the updates, but just reinforces my personal policy of not buying anything at launch. Seems like the game will be so much better after a few months to a year and likely also cheaper
"is there even enough disposable income around to support $90 or $100 games?" We're already there in Canada! and I still double-take when I see a $100+ new release on the shelf
"While you will be able to play through all of the biomes in one go if you want to, you’ll also be able to teleport directly to the area you last failed, making the game that little less punishing." This makes it sound like not really a roguelite at all, which has me much more interested now.
I'm so surprised how popular Monster Hunter is. You would think it would be quite niche, but it's right up there among a bunch of casual-friendly mega franchises.
@Noone2025 that would make for quite boring reading don't you think? What, just post after post of Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding competing with each other for the awards?
yeah the thing is that games take a lot of time to get through. If you have a full time job and a family, even a 15 hour game can take weeks to finish, nevermind the open world behemoths. I pretty much stopped buying new games when I realized that my backlog was growing much more rapidly than I was finishing games.
@StitchJones yea there seems to be no rhyme or reason to DLC pricing these days. You'll see costume packs for $40+ alongside expansions that add hours of content for $10-20. Feels like they just pick numbers out of a hat sometimes.
"Obviously, we understand not every game will appeal to everyone; some of you may have already purchased some of these titles, therefore you’re not getting quite the same return from your subscription."
That's exactly it. Years old games just don't add much value for me. IMO, the only subscription somewhat worthwhile is game pass ultimate for its day 1 new games. And even then, losing access when you unsubscribe is not very appealing.
Kind of devalues their own service when they're basically saying that hey if you got this game through our subscription, which is a PAID service, you're a second class customer
I'm just here to express my astonishment that ... Days Gone of all games won back in 2019. Are readers here really so biased towards first party titles?
@Impossibilium Deku Deals is fantastic, and if you're someone like me who has multiple consoles, all the information is in one place. No need for multiple wishlists. Plus it shows the sales history, so you can see how often the game goes on sale or if you're actually getting a good deal
A bit hyperbolic there. I play most games months, or even years after release, and the existence of spoilers has never negatively impacted my experience
This update actually pushed me to cancel my ps+ entirely today. I was already close since I already have gamepass and don't have enough time to properly make use of both subscriptions, but Sony clearly doesn't care about making this worthwhile for users.
@Stevemalkpus I think you're probably overestimating how much the casuals who only buy EA FC, CoD etc. actually know about their system. Wouldn't be surprised if a large percentage are not even aware it's available on ps+
This is such a small, unnecessary change, that is now going to be used in countless examples across the internet of how games are going "woke", "sweet baby" etc etc.
It sounds cool, but I have so much difficulty going to back to a game for DLC many months later. My skills and knowledge of the game have evaporated, but the DLC will expect endgame level skill.
I think Jason Schreier has already chimed in on this that something dead space related was being worked on at some point, but it wasn't a dead space 2 remake

oh The Ascent.. Visuals were definitely excellent but everything else was mediocre at best
Re: Mina the Hollower Well on Its Way to Saving Dev, Sells Half a Million Copies
kind of nuts that even making one of THE most well known indie games out there, Shovel Knight, is not enough for financial stability.

I will choose to read this as they're planning on taking Spyro in the Jak II direction. Spyro will have guns and attitude with a permanent scowl.

...why? Wish they would move on from this dreadfully boring series

@Titntin haha this is perfect. I hope people bring this up every time the writers on this site insist that 7 and 8s are good scores.

@DennisReynolds Completely agree. This headline is nonsense for a site that constantly states that 7/10 and 8/10 are good scores.

That is quite likely, in which case the title should have been something like "Resident Evil 9 Reveal Imminent, To Be Released in January"
