The next big James Bond adventure isn't a movie, it's PS5 game 007 First Light, and it sounds like its lead performer is doing a great job of playing the part.
Patrick Gibson steps into the polished shoes of James Bond in the upcoming action adventure game, portraying a younger version of the character in an origin story exploring how he becomes a 00 agent.
According to another member of the cast — Lennie James, who plays John Greenway in the game — Gibson's performance is so good he could be in the conversation for the movies as well.

"He's fantastic in our version of Bond, and I genuinely think he should be a candidate for the main role that they're trying to find someone for," James told Radio Times Gaming.
"I'm sure he's under consideration. The people in control would be mad not to consider him."
Indeed, now that Daniel Craig is done with the franchise, it remains to be seen who will be cast as the new face of Bond in the films going forward.
It sounds like Gibson has put in a good turn in IO Interactive's upcoming game, though, and with this being an official James Bond adventure, we're sure there are people at Amazon paying attention. It may not be wholly out of the question.
Whether or not he ends up on the big screen in the next Bond movie, it seems we're in for a treat when First Light arrives on 27th May 2026.

@Yousef- I love Fist Full Of Dollars etc but much of the performances in those are hammed up to the eyeballs, which Red Dead replicates pretty well, they don't really go for serious.
Acting in games is often equal to Hollywood these days, as the motion capture tech has advanced to capture more details more of the actor's performance comes through.
Just looking at my shelf next to me, Last Of Us Part 2, Death Stranding, Ghost Of Yotei and Cyberpunk all hold their own on the acting front.
…I am shocked, SHOCKED I say that their costar in the same game they’re promoting has positive things to say.
I expected them to decry his performance as pure drivel and unworthy of Get Smart, let alone James Bond.
My amazement is absolute!
I was a supporting artist on the last Bond movie and there's nothing like being in Pinewood, filming on the 007 stage. I'm hoping the next movie is set in a different time period just so the character doesn't have to be diluted as much.
@dskatter Pretty much. Reminds me of another article recently where the devs that worked on The Last of Us multiplayer were saying it was going to be the greatest mp game ever, and it's an absolutey tragedy that it was cancelled...
@dskatter next thing they'll be saying is does more for gaming than mario, than super mario galaxy movie does for films; as that was made to preserve cinemas integrity, according to miyamoto-san.
Pleade note my tongue is firmly in cheek, as I very much gather yours is. 🤪
File this under: things that will never happen
The actor (once digitised) reminds me of Henry from the Kingdom Come games. Obviously in reality the two actors don't look that much alike though. Hopefully this game will be a hell of a lot longer than each chapter of the Hitman Trilogy i/o batted out.
Shaken not shat stirred as it were...
He’s a great actor. And he’s a movie/TV actor first. Part of why I’m looking forward to this is that they do have proper actors doing it, who could easily show up in a movie.
An actor did his job.
We will have to wait and see if he’s great in the role, and the game may be fabulous, but currently the promotional materials are giving me Double-Oh-Smirk whiplash.
He's 31, right? He's on the younger side for a movie Bond, but I could see it happening, it's been long enough since the last Irish Bond.
@nessisonett Exactly, and he was outstanding as a young Dexter, nailing Michael C. Hall’s mannerisms. I have no doubt he can do the same here and replicate the Bond of the books.
My mom tells people I am really talented too.
@8thDoctor I'm pretty sure Sean Connery was the same age when he was cast as Bond.
Patrick Gibson's too short to play James Bond, he's even less than 5'10, which is Daniel Craig's height for which he was ridiculed...
@TimeDelayedGamer True, but he looked older.
