Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Sales

For our money, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter was one of 2025's best RPGs — and so it's nice to see this amazing remake rack up some significant dough for longstanding developer Falcom.

Recently, company president Toshihiro Kondo commented that the studio needed a break from the ongoing Trails timeline — and so a decision was made to revisit its classic Sky saga, and rebuild it from the ground up.

But we wonder whether Kondo foresaw the revival being such a financial success for the developer.

As reported by GameBiz (and translated by Automaton), Falcom posted some seriously impressive first quarter results off the back of 1st Chapter's release in September.

Compared to the previous year — in which the company launched Trails beyond the Horizon, but only in Japan — revenue increased by over 150%, while operating profit skyrocketed by over 670%.

Of course, it should be noted that 1st Chapter released globally on the same date, which will have bolstered its sales performance significantly.

The good news for western fans is that Falcom won't be able to overlook this kind of success; it'll no doubt want to ensure worldwide launch dates for all of its games going forward.

And to be fair, that seems to be the plan, as both Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter and the newly announced Kyoto Xanadu are targeting global releases.
