Re: The Silent Hill 2 Remake Now Represents a Quarter of the Series' Total Sales

Orpheus79V

@PuppetMaster To add to your numbers, we have:

SH2R: 2.5 million
SHf: 1 million

Add those to the figures you gave, the total is 7.37 million units, meaning 2.6 million sales between Homecoming, Downpour, Shattered Memories, Book of Memories and the HD Collection. Average of around 526k sales between them, although I think we can all agree Book of Memories did not get anywhere near that so you could split most of it's numbers among the rest. HD Collection is a trainwreck but it probably sold well because of the reputation of the games it remastered, unfortunately it was the most accessible way to play Silent Hill 2 for a while.

Financially speaking, that era of the franchise wasn't in the worst position compared to the declining sales of the first 5 games. Critically speaking is a different matter though.

At least now we have both good sales and (mostly) good reviews so far.

@twitchtvpat @RudeAnimat0r I also enjoyed Downpour. It might be my favourite post Team Silent, pre SH2 Remake game.

Re: As Fans Demand inFAMOUS Remasters, Sucker Punch Says It Can Only Work on One Game at a Time

Orpheus79V

I get the one thing at a time argument for new games. But ports/remasters of their older games should only need about a year. They wouldn't require Sucker Punch themselves to deliver them either. Plenty of studios whose speciality is converting older games to newer platforms.

For Sly Cooper, you could get XDEV to find a talented indie team that's made some good platformers and have a few people from Sucker Punch overseeing the project. You don't need to go AAA for Sly, that fanbase would be pleased with another PS2 style game.

Re: Konami Wants to 'Consider Lots of Other Games' for Remake Treatment if MGS Delta Succeeds

Orpheus79V

I'd prefer new titles, but if they aim to make Delta versions of later games in the timeline they should be a little more daring. All MGS3 needed to feel modern was a few tweaks, but I can't see a remake of MGS1 that plays it as safe as the MGS3 remake going down well for $70/80. They would need more of an RE2 remake approach. The MSX games would also need to basically be brand new games, if they intend on touching those. Portable Ops could work with a rejig (with a new name since it won't be quite as portable).

Re: Tales of Xillia Remastered Releases October for PS5, Xillia 2 Not Included

Orpheus79V

No Xillia 2 is a bit of a shame, but I'm sure it's next on the list of remasters. I'll take it, Xillia 1 was my first Tales game and I've honestly not spent much time with the other games in the series (mainly just Xillia 2, the Vita game and Symphonia Chronicles, the rest I either didn't play or I didn't get far), this might be a great way to get fully into the series.

Re: Delayed Metal Gear Solid Delta Multiplayer Won't Support Crossplay on PS5, Xbox, PC

Orpheus79V

That sucks. It's not a deal breaker, I was going to buy it before we knew they were including multiplayer, but it's a shame. The Metal Gear community is split between PS and PC (with a few Xbox people), even if there won't be a large playerbase a year from now there will still be a small but dedicated playerbase so it would be nice to have crossplay.

Just to let everybody know and to illustrate the point, you can still get matches going in MGSV's MGO as well as Survive (yes, really) and those are pretty old now.

@TrollOfWar They did have Konami ID back in the day for MGS4. I don't know how intensive it would be on their resources to get that going again though.

Re: 12 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for August 2025 Announced

Orpheus79V

When are they going to add a native resolution integer upscale option for the classic games? PS1 games in particular do not look pretty when rendered in high resolutions. Give me 240/480p!

@Simulated-Soul There are plenty of PS1/2 classics on the new program that didn't have trophies. Most got them added later but some still remain, with RE1 and Dino Crisis being two examples like Rocky said.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Community Rocked by AI Art Controversy

Orpheus79V

@ZeroSum The Lilithascends social media accounts were made around the time of the contest launching and promptly shut down once the accusations came about, so the only artwork we have to go off are the three pieces they submitted which are all AI generated (two of which are directly plagiarising the work of three artists).

There is literally no way for anyone to know the level of talent they might have. All we do know is they broke the rules of the contest by using generative AI and blatantly plagiarised other people in the process. Based on all the information we have at hand, it is entirely fair to say this person is a fraud. Your charitable interpretation that they may not have realised one of the rules was not to use AI is naive, surely you should read the rules of a contest you're participating in, so I see no excuse for this.

At best, you are correct that we don't know 100% for certain how talented they might be as an artist when not being a thief, but the implication isn't charitable and their character definitely shows in the choices made.

Re: Oblivion Remastered Patch 1.2 Out Now, Adds New Difficulty Options, Improves Performance, More

Orpheus79V

@DennisReynolds If we're lucky PS6 back-compat might fix the performance haha. Slapping UE5 on top of the Creation Engine worked about as well as you would've expected it to. Could've been a song if they did as you suggested and went with a more modest Skyrim Special Edition style upgrade.

Next we'll probably have the 'pleasure' of seeing Fallout 3/New Vegas get the same treatment.
