Hiroki Totoki, the current CEO of Sony, has spent a lovely afternoon with Hideo Kojima in Tokyo.
The executive, who briefly served as PlayStation’s CEO while he learned about the business, took an obligatory photo with the Death Stranding maker in his studio’s iconic hallway. He then signed the developer’s wall.
It’s unclear what was on the agenda between the two executives, but Sony is investing heavily into Kojima Productions.
In addition to the two Death Stranding games – built using Guerrilla’s Decima Engine – PlayStation has also signed Kojima to make a spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid in Physint. This project will also involve input from Sony Pictures as well.
Unfortunately, you’ll need to wait for it.
Earlier this year, it was predicted that the tactical espionage outing could be as many as five or six years away. Kojima is also working on a horror game named OD for Xbox, which will likely launch on PlayStation as well.
Nevertheless, with Kojima’s career deeply intertwined with Sony, we suppose Totoki’s visit makes sense. Perhaps he just dropped by to congratulate the auteur on the success of Death Stranding 2? Oh to be a fly on the wall.
