Re: Here's Your First Good Look at Netflix's Devil May Cry Anime Series

Orpheus79V

@SuperSilverback If it wasn't for Itsuno's departure, I would have said Reuben's social media activities wouldn't have an effect on his role as Dante, since they're apparently friends, and he's been well known as a consipracy kook for a very long time. With this being made by an outside team in a different timeline there's a creative excuse to recast. Situation is quite different now though, I wouldn't expect to see him back if DMC6 has Dante in it.

Re: All PS5 Pro Compatible Games

@GamingFan4Lyf A lot of people, mainly console players can underestimate how demanding native 4K rendering can be for current games. You're just not going to get native 4K 60 at high settings for a lot of titles even on a top end rig as you say. A lack of first hand experience with DLSS type upscaling doesn't help either, you think of upscaling and the first thought isn't of virtually pristine image quality.

£700 is a TOUGH SELL, especially given I and many others only paid half that for our launch PS5s, but PSSR should be a quite solid value add - enough for the cost? Unlikely, but it's not to be overlooked I reckon.

Re: All PS5 Pro Compatible Games

@OldGamer999 Well for that it depends entirely on the game and what the devs want to do with the hardware budget. No different to any other console. All PS5 games could be native 4K 60fps if devs chose to.

Re: Soapbox: Astro's Playroom PS5 Did Live Service and You Didn't Even Notice

Orpheus79V

The Splatoon series is a good example of a live service that people don't think is one. Regular updates that add new content, Splatfests and Big Runs are time limited events, and 3 even has a battle pass system with the catalogues. It's a much better example than Astro's Playroom, though of course this is a Playstation site so I get it. People have a misconception that live service must mean microtransactions, etc. live service isn't defined by a particular type of monetisation, but by the evolving nature of the online platform of the game, it just so happens that most live services have to rely on mtx to sustain the model - Nintendo doesn't, they make enough money from everyone buying the game at full price.

Re: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Social Media Channels Get New 25th Anniversary Branding

Not going to hold my breath, but it's not impossible that Beenox could be working on THPS 3+4 remakes alongside the CoD support. They have around 300 employees. Maybe they rejected Vicarious Visions' pitch because they already decided that studio was merging with Blizzard, not because they didn't want to produce the project. So it fell to another team that worked on the 1+2 remake.

Unlikely, but not impossible.

Re: Shadow's Doom Powers Look Awesome in Sonic X Shadow Generations on PS5, PS4

Orpheus79V

The Shadow portion of this package is looking stacked. From what's been shown so far, we have:

1. Radical Highway (SA2)
2. Space Colony Ark (SA2)
3. Bullet Station (Heroes)
4. Final Fortress (Heroes)
5. Kingdom Valley (06)
6. Sunset Heights (Forces)
7. Chaos Island (Frontiers)

And there'll probably be a zone or two from the 2005 Shadow game, putting the level count on par with the original Generations - then there's this DLC level coming later on. Add on to that an open world hub, multiple boss fights, etc. They're really just making a whole other game and throwing in Sonic Generations as a bonus, and even that has some new content. Not bad for $50/£45, especially if they deliver with the new stuff.

Re: PlayStation's Domination of Europe Set to Continue with Renewed Champions League Sponsor

Orpheus79V

@NoHope It's true though. PS5 is the best performer currently in Europe.

"All three platforms saw a slight decline, with PS5 still comfortably the market leader (selling more than the other two platforms combined). Nintendo Switch slips to No.3 this month, narrowly overtaken by Xbox Series S and X, with both platforms broadly neck-and-neck year-to-date."
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/elden-ring-sales-jump-467-on-shadow-of-the-erdtree-release-i-uk-monthly-charts

"All three platforms are down, although PS5 is proving the most resilient with a year-on-year sales drop of 10% in June.
For the first six months of the year, the games console hardware market is down 24% with 2.2 million units sold. PS5 is down 16%, Switch down 32% and Xbox Series S and X down 37%. The console market is struggling when put against strong 2023 numbers, a weaker software line-up and the ageing Nintendo Switch platform."

Re: Konami Producer Would 'Like Nothing Better Than to Work with Hideo Kojima Again'

Orpheus79V

You should probably have included the second half of his quote where Okamura acknowledges people have moved on and such.

Besides that, I should do a quick rundown on the Kojima/Konami situation, 9 years on. Konami's executives who pushed Kojima out are not in the company anymore, pachinko hasn't been a focus for several years, with the video game division earning the most revenue, and much of the key MGS staff who worked with Kojima on those games do still remain there and are working on Delta.

(nobody is going to care about what I just put and the same old memes will continue).
