During a launch event for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach in London this week, auteur Hideo Kojima was hyped to see a fan in the audience playing on his PS Portal.

“You’re playing right now – that’s cool,” he shouted, spotting the fan holding up their Remote Play handheld in the crowd.

“Wow, he really is playing,” host Geoff Keighley added after spotting the player holding aloft their portable. “He’s got it running on the PS Portal!”

While the PS Portal is only designed for streaming, it can work remarkably well at distances as long as you have a strong Wi-Fi connection.

The video clearly shows protagonist Sam on the PS Portal’s screen, but given the busy nature of the event, we’d be shocked if this person was getting a particularly playable experience here.

Nevertheless, it makes for a nice little social media video, and Kojima was clearly pleased to see someone in the audience playing the game.

Where’s the weirdest place you’ve ever used your PS Portal? How do you find the Remote Play experience at distance? Let us know in the comments section below.
