@Sulleymonster Control's FPS drop from PSSR is around 5 in Quality mode (e.g. 50 vs 55), and it's not extremely noticeable. And it plays just fine framerate-wise with PSSR in Quality mode with a VRR supporting display.
I ended up returning mine due to better overall experience on a 4K TV, the lack of back buttons being hard to go back to after getting used to DualSense Edge, and the high input latency (especially for games that benefit from quick reactions). That latency comes from Remote Play itself (which Portal relies on) and is due to video encoding latency on the PS5. So, the input latency is still high even if you remove all network latency by connecting the Remote Play client device directly to the PS5 via Ethernet cable without the router in between (not possible with Portal, as that's WiFi-only).
I hope some of those performance improvements also make it into the PS5 version. Even on PS5 Pro, during boss fights on water (e.g. as in early game caves), it always stutters (i.e. frame rate falls below the VRR minimum, 48 FPS) in Quality mode (without RT).
If I ever need a handheld, I'll just wait for the PS6 Portable so that I can play my existing digital PS backlog anywhere. $1K seems way overpriced anyway.
@MrPeanutbutterz To be fair, making any multiplayer trophy a requirement for platinum is essentially paywalling the platinum trophy, since players will need to pay extra for a PS+ subscription to get it for such a single-player game with an optional multiplayer content that needs to be downloaded (aka a DLC). They could have easily put multiplayer trophies into a separate trophy list (just like in Ghost of Tsushima, for example).
To me, it was good, as I'm certainly interested in 007 First Light, Pragmata, Sword of the Sea, Ghost of Yotei, and Thief PSVR2, but not at all in the other announcements. Also, I wished they finished with something bigger, like a Saros or Intergalactic gameplay trailer, or maybe a Horizon 3 teaser or Horizon Online announcement.
For me to pay for such multiplayer games (i.e. games that rely on popularity to be playable at all), it would have to be one of the top 5 best games in existence. As for this generic-looking, trend-chasing game, it would have to be either free-to-play or super cheap to gain a sustainable player base, given the saturated market of all the currently popular (and higher-quality) multiplayer games, live-service or not, since they appeal to the same type of players.
Interesting (and even unique?) art style, but certainly not for me, as I have no interest in multiplayer games. That said, I hope that they make good use of early feedback and that it doesn't fail, for Sony and Bungie's sakes.
YouTube comment says they removed the shadows in the 2024 version for this comparison video to make the 2025 improvement look more significant. Is that true?
@Casco They said "We currently have no plans for PS5 Pro patch", which doesn't necessarily mean they will never do it. Their plans might change in the future after all. And yes, PSVR2 support would be amazing, but much less likely than a potential Pro enhancement patch.
If their single-player experiences are so "cutting-edge", why aren't they enhancing Cyberpunk 2077 for PS5 Pro, e.g. by adding PSSR and/or more RT effects (maybe as options)?
@heavyartillery56 Also, 30 FPS looks more stuttery on OLED displays in general (compared to older display technologies) due to OLED's near-instant pixel response time ("sample and hold").
@Zeke68 Thanks for the response. To see if I could find anything, I checked the EU PS blog site archives in Wayback Machine (linked below), where blog posts end on 2020/05/28 (when that site merge probably happened as there are only redirect pages archived soon after), and couldn't find any blog posts archived in 2020 (or 2019) with Returnal or Housemarque in the URL. FWIW, the game was apparently announced on 2020/06/11, so that might not be surprising.
@Zeke68 I haven't heard of such a player-specific world seed that would consistently make it more difficult for some. Do you remember which Returnal blog post you read that in? https://blog.playstation.com/tag/returnal/ FYI, weapon level number is determined based on your current weapon proficiency number when you find the weapon. So, you can't find a high-level weapon at the beginning (i.e. when you have low proficiency). And each different type of weapon only spawns after you find that type of weapon for the first time at its corresponding discovery biome and room (assuming that room spawns in your current cycle).

Re: Five Years of PS5 - How Well Do You Know Sony's Console?
Why would knowing the weight of a launch PS3 be required for knowing the PS5 well? What a dumb question.

First playthrough of Resident Evil 3 Remake for me, too.

@Rich33 I tried it on PS5 Pro, and in both modes, it's the same resolution as the PS5, but with FPS closer to the target, as can be seen here (if you search for "Robocop: Rogue City"):

@Bamila Or at least PSSR support on the Pro for higher quality upscaling. A new balanced (40 FPS) mode would also be nice.

Wasn't Hitman's PSVR2 version also newly announced, and isn't that a major one? Why was it left out?
