It's taken over 13 years to get here, but Ninja Gaiden 4 is upon us. That's right, Team Ninja's hardcore action franchise is finally back in the spotlight, and by most accounts, it's a welcome return.
The game's been given some really positive review scores, with many critics praising its all-out focus on unapologetically hectic combat. Compared to many modern action titles, it's a proper throwback to the more classic stylings that we associate with PS2 and PS3 era design.
But at the same time, a new (and ridiculously edgy) lead character, alongside some noticeable steps towards making Ninja Gaiden more accessible, give this long-awaited sequel a surprisingly fresh feel. Whether that feel ends up going down well with veteran players, we'll have to wait and see.

"Ninja Gaiden 4 is a rock solid action game that delivers on what's most important — the combat," is what we wrote in our 7/10 Ninja Gaiden 4 PS5 review.
We concluded: "It doesn't hit every mark, but the simplistic structure, emphasis on technical combat, and even the cheesy performances combine for an action game that feels like it's from a bygone era, in the best way possible."
