A new update for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has dropped on PS5, and it features some highly anticipated improvements.
Patch 1.4.0 introduces a 'Retry Battle' option, letting you immediately restart any combat encounter upon defeat. Developer Sandfall Interactive says that this was "one of the most requested quality of life additions".
On top of that, the update makes one small but significant adjustment to the user interface, clearly marking the Lumina cost of your Pictos when you're browsing the Pictos menu.

Because there are so many Pictos to collect throughout the game, the lack of a clear, at-a-glance Lumina cost always felt like a crazy oversight. But with this update, planning out character builds and making sure you have enough Lumina to go around should be much easier.
The patch's smaller tweaks are also very welcome. There's a new setting for autoplaying dialogue, and separate volume sliders have been added for both exploration and combat.
And to round things off, the official patch notes give us a little tease: "Thank you all for your continued support for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33! Of course, there is more to come in the future..."
