Re: Fresh PS5 Pro Report Reiterates Sony Demands for Upgraded Games

Nalverus

Haven't really seen anything that demands an upgrade....or much of anything at all really. devs have barely tapped what we have now halfway into the gen and they won't let go of last gen. will just hold onto the current ones they work more than well enough. whats more interesting now is nintendo about to release their next system.

Re: There's Growing Concern Over Persona Dev's Metaphor: ReFantazio Being an Xbox Exclusive

Nalverus

@Kevw2006 sorry, family matters came up that i had to deal with.

tl;dr - all paths lead to the same outcome - uncertainty.

This is gonna sound like i'm tunnel visioning but its not so much the marketing from them but the aftermath of what isn't announced. Hm... lets take sea of stars for example. lets look at it from someone on xbox's platform point of view. Sea of stars was a crowdfunded game an xbox was a platform you could put money towards. Fast forward. Game's platforms are announced - wheres xbox. People was upset to be sure but this was becaus of how much they had to endure it. (it did just get announced for gamepass.)

lets look at square enix. Trials of mana. (i love SD3 dearly) so i got it on every platform. Except its not on xbox an they would never elaborate.

I feel like FF7R is a beaten horse at this point but that exclusive deal did end an yet nothing. Everyone just assumed they bought more exclusive time. Then just...hey! here it is on pc! utterly broken too. ugh.

Theres rumblings of platform exclusion contracts which i won't touch on (but that sucks all the same.)

Its not so much Playstation isn't clear for THEIR end, its the air of uncertainty they give to OTHER platforms. Its really just...ya know. it sucks. its sucked for years, it still sucks.

Metaphor being in the air like it is sucks but seeing people jump on MS since its the first they ever experienced of it in recent memory is crazy.
MS is more direct when they do it, nintendo as well. When nintendo jumps, they pounce lol. Monolith soft an Bayonetta examples. Daemon X Machina (remember that?) that was a switch exclusive but not a single word an then 5 months later, poof! went to pc.

Point is, this is the industry today an its one of playstation's rare times of experiencing it so i guess its not really a shock people are acting like this on the sony side - just after what they've all said after all this time to everyone else. I get the annoying pain but its not unusual.

Re: There's Growing Concern Over Persona Dev's Metaphor: ReFantazio Being an Xbox Exclusive

Nalverus

@Sil_Am whatever floats your boat. only sony systems i don't have is a PS2 (cause everyone had one so i didn't want one lol) and a PS Vita.

i can be critical and not hate a platform.
that doesn't make sense to not have concerns.

" Yea, like Nintendo doesn't have 3rd party exlusives"
all the more reason its ok for xbox to have 3rd party exclusives

"I will no way in hell buy an Xbox, even is Sony goes bust."
then don't? i'm not telling you to. you really missed the point or just not willing to open your eyes.

Re: There's Growing Concern Over Persona Dev's Metaphor: ReFantazio Being an Xbox Exclusive

Nalverus

@SplooshDmg It really only seems to happen when its xbox... just the oddest behavior.

@Kevw2006 "Exclusivity is its own thing but why does there need to be cloak and daggers over what platforms a game is going to release on?"

^ This is literally what xbox has had to deal with for the last 8 or so years. Heck its happened to nintendo and even PC. Its annoying but its literally whats been happening for years an years. The only given was generally it was on Playstation. Just Playstation. This is the mindset everyone is now accustomed to and just stayed inside the walls of Playstation but now the world is starting to push back and everyone's wondering why the walls are shrinking. I have every platform - build my own PCs - i've chose to stand in every garden and its always this (playstation) walled garden that confuses me the most.

Re: Soapbox: PS Plus Might Be Gaming's Best Subscription Service Now

Nalverus

Not sure I agree with this but not gonna attack it either. Value is based on an individual's taste after all. Nothing I'm after on it that I don't already own to begin with. I'd be more interested in older titles - titles not easily accessible anymore but playstation seems to have ditched that altogether. I miss their rpg lineup from when I was younger but that literally is ancient history now lol. Way too much open world anymore.

Re: New PS5 Breakdown with Mark Cerny Is a Fascinating Watch

Nalverus

For the most part, I did enjoy the system but I barely play it. There just isn't really anything to play on it that isn't last gen upgrades.
I still can't believe, fathom, or begin to forgive them for literally leaving a memory module (ram) exposed an not under a heat sink to just run at 90c+. That thing is just constantly in danger of burning itself out for such a slip up and ruining the system entirely. So, I only get exlusives on it. Which isn't much.

Re: Latest PS5 Firmware Update Is Available to Download Right Now

Nalverus

well, considering history with playstations bricking on me through downloading from the system, i've always just downloaded off the website an manually installed but lately, they seem to just not be linking the file correctly. locked out of my PS5 online unless I choose to risk making my system a paperweight which i'm not gonna do.

thats fine i have the series, switch, an my pc. not like i need to play on it right this second, i can wait for sony to fix their mess.

Re: Tales of Arise Is the Fastest Selling Tales Game Ever, Hits 1 Million Copies in Less Than a Week

Nalverus

i have a few nitpicks with the game, mostly minor. my two biggest gripes is gald and the bosses. the bosses are really kinda bad. they have completely predictable phases and are just meat grinds. throw bodies at them till they fall rather than any type of strategy, they don't stun - they always have one boost strike happen when at 50% hp threshold is hit. They basically have zero damage checks after that 50% and theres practically nothing you can do to prevent them, save for a few thats basically "use new characters boost attack or suffer life."

The game is beautiful but the combat is really rough around the edges if you look at it. Not surprising, being pretty much a revamp of the combat system but it really takes away the experience.

Re: LittleBigPlanet PS3, Vita Servers Shut Down to Combat Hacker Issues

Nalverus

@sanderson72 its actually not all that fishy. Their point of attack was probably the old PS3 code in the servers. Code that no longer has the means to be safely updated, because how to code for the PS3 has, highly likely, largely been forgotten.

When it comes to compromised code, you either rewrite it or delete it. Rewriting was out of the question.

Re: PS5 Game Compression Shrinks Tales of Arise by 20GB

Nalverus

@Lando_ ps5 ver runs at an average of 15 frames slower than series X.

hovers around the 40-45 range while X is 50~ range.
it sucks and very unfortunate but for the average person, such a thing won't even matter.

graphical assets are identical but whatever the PS5 does to the image, it looks muddier to me.
that is an absolute personal gripe though.

also note, both do 60frames fine so long as they're not running at 4k.

Re: PS5 Game Compression Shrinks Tales of Arise by 20GB

Nalverus

@Lando_ what are you talking about. the series X an PS5 have the same internal storage capacity. when did that ever creep in.

they're still both insanely low. both my PS5 and my X are always just capped out.

anyways, tried the demo of arise on both PS5 and series X. think i'll nab it on my X. image looked cleaner an ran better there. been waiting for a new tales game for a long time.

Re: Sony's PS Plus Subscriber Count Just Dropped for the First Time

Nalverus

@parvaz1 that would be me. I have a Day 1 PS5 and all sony has done to me with it is annoy the heck* out of me. No 1440p support? it took like half a year to get generic support for 120hz on 1080p monitors. No freesync support yet still?? That OS runs like crap. Why is one of the RAM chips not under a heat sink?!?! I can't play it during the day because it'll risk frying that chip. Hardly any cross progression.
List goes on.

So i bought an xbox series S to hold me off till i got a series X but ironically landed a series X a little later. I've been utterly content with it. Discovered how godlike gamepass is. I boot up my PS5 now maybe once every two months. Last major time i did was rift apart.

So yes. Long story short, PS+ did lose me to game pass.

Actually, sony has dang near lost me entirely. I'm on my xbox, switch, and PC near daily. Freesync support on xbox. 1440p support on xbox. 120hz support flat out for everything that can handle it on my xbox.
Notice the trend? support? Even on old games just freesync an 120hz. Its just a severe game changer for me. Something I wish sony would do but they just don't. They really need to get it together.

Re: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Has Been Played By Over 37 Million People

Nalverus

it really does need a 60fps patch at the very least (unless it breaks the game cause thats possible). honestly been on my xbox series way more lately just due to how good the BC is there. I come to the PS5 when I want to play something specific but broadly I go to the xbox. If sony works on this area, i'll probably be on my PS5 more.

uncharted 4 really was a great game though.

Re: PlayStation Studios Boss Wants 'Distinct and Diverse' Range of Games, Sony Committed to Both AAA Quality and Experimentation

Nalverus

People say "samey" because the majority of the things that did release was all open world games. Did they all play different? absolutely but when you look back, they vast majority was flat out open world games.

The same could literally be said of the other platforms though. If you want a certain experience, just go for the platform that actually has it.
So long as the devs are doing what THEY want, this isn't a problem.

Re: Poll: Do You Have a PS5?

Nalverus

i got mine in the first wave of pre-orders somehow. was pure luck.

just about the only luck i've had in the past year an a half honestly.

Re: PS5's First Firmware Update Is Available to Download Now

Nalverus

I didn't have a single issue with my external in till yesterday when my copy of miles morales came in. The moment a cutscene ended and player control was gonna happen, it just hard crashed and stayed stuck at 50%. Left it there for an hour to see if it'd advance. So forced shut it down, black screen on boot. Wouldn't come back up till i unplugged the external but thats the only hardcrash i had and it played nice with the external after. Miles morales does not like externals lol.

hopefully, this update resolves some of that.

Re: Here's Why Rocket League Can't Run at 120FPS on PS5

Nalverus

@Wormold that was already out the window with PC in the fold all these years. Plus, this isn't one of those games where an FPS gain is a serious benefit other than how it looks.

edit: the larger input timing also wouldn't matter much to a casual player.
