Re: New PS5 Firmware Update Available from Today, Here's What It Does

MrRhysReviews

All these years later and STILL no way to turn off that annoying "You've entered a blocked scene. Screen Recording paused" pop-ups... An easy "Notification" setting to disable on PS4 (was available straight away, or at least when I got mine within less than 2 Years of launch it was 🤷‍♂️) but still unable to do it on PS5 😒

Edit: Super annoying for PS4 Games especially, thankfully most Devs must know about this as I don't think I EVER see that Notification in PS5 Games specifically (besides, I have all "Screen Recording" and "Picture Capture" OFF by default anyway, I don't have infinite SSD space ffs)

Re: Poll: Is Fallout 4 Underrated, 10 Years Later?

MrRhysReviews

It's basically the same as Oblivion to Skyrim... It dropped so many systems and "Role Playing" elements that it just kinda sucks by comparison... Although Skyrim was actually pretty solid, I thought Fallout 4 kinda sucked honestly (don't even get me started on the BASE BUILDING 😒 and Starfield... Don't even get me started on that dumpster fire 🤣)

Re: Mini Review: System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster (PS5) - Cult Classic Returns, Cybernetically Enhanced

MrRhysReviews

Man, the OST is one of the best things about System Shock 2

Anyway, can't wait for Thursday. Was disappointed in the delay a few weeks back but it got me to final play through the System Shock Remake (which I've owned since Launch. I have some time/history with SS2 but never the Original) and got every Trophy besides the 3/3/3/3 Difficulty run and Upgrade All Guns (annoyingly never got the one in Beta Grove before jettisoning it, so gotta do that on a fresh playthrough, probably not possible to do all upgrades on that Max Difficulty run without getting a MASSIVE HEADACHE as it's timed and all that) and thoroughly enjoyed my time with it.

Re: The Delayed System Shock 2 Remaster Locks Down Its July Release Date on PS5, PS4

MrRhysReviews

@wilky2988 I looked at the Achievements for Steam and it looked like there isn't any (maybe 1 for starting Co-Op but that's it if I'm even remembering that correctly)

Was annoyed when this got delayed but thankfully it gave me that push to FINALLY play the System Shock Remake this week, nearly done now (will be before this weekend definitely) and it's been so damn good. Can't wait for this as I've played System Shock 2 and it's AMAZING 😁

Re: Danganronpa Creator's Switch, PC Game World's End Club Poised for PS5 Port

MrRhysReviews

Nice, another game just like Master Detective that I bought on Switch (this one at a BIG Discount tbf) that I never got around to playing cause I'd rather play it on PlayStation and get Trophies 😅 Well guess I'll be double dipping again.

This is why I'm definitely not buying Hundred Line on my Switch (Switch 2) cause I can totally see this happening again.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing DOOM: The Dark Ages?

MrRhysReviews

Yep, been playing since the Early Access started (on PS5) and up to Chapter 16 with every level 100% so far... LOVE ME SOME DOOM. Glad to say it's more Doom 2016 than Doom Eternal, which is great cause I preferred 2016 so much more.

Actually been playing it while Share Playing it to my friend the last 2 Days, he's enjoying it so much that I'm actually gonna replay 2016 and do the PS5 Version of Eternal after as well 😅

Re: Hideki Kamiya Wants to Remake the Original Devil May Cry, Would Make Design Changes

MrRhysReviews

I LOVE the original DMC so I hope this happens. Easily my favourite in terms of Setting/Storytelling/Cohesion/Soundtrack etc. etc.

The one thing I'd want to see them remove is the stupid pace breaking "Mission Start/End" screens, it would be one cohesive adventure from start to finish without those abrupt pauses every 10-30 Mins 😅 (obviously some other things like updated Gameplay/Combos and Graphics go without mentioning and all that... However, do NOT remove the fixed Camera Angles like Silent Hill 2 did, I miss those dynamic set cameras from DMC/GoW/SH tbh)

Re: LittleBigPlanet Erasure Continues as Sackboy Removed from PlayStation Productions Logo

MrRhysReviews

I never really got into LBP that much, Sackboy is alright (and he's definitely cute) but since I was a Teen during the time of the PS3 I REALLY didn't care about him or the LBP games all that much... Also I SWEAR I remember Nathan Drake being pushed really hard as the PS3 "Mascot", at some point at least 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, the true Mascot of PS will always be Crash/Spyro, although since they never owned them officially (and are now owned by Xbox 😒) I'll go with Jak & Daxter/Ratchet & Clank (could also throw Sly and the gang in with them, but I don't know ANYONE who played the Sly games back on the PS2? We all played the ever living crap out of Jak/Ratchet though... Plus that keeps the Mascots as being Naughty Dog/Insomniac Games reps too which are easily PlayStations biggest Studios and are, or were at least, the heart and soul of the brand)

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Forza Horizon 5 on PS5?

MrRhysReviews

Of course, literally the one reason I got back into the Xbox Ecosystem in 2021 was to finally play FH2-FH4 (HUGE fan of Forza Motorsport and FH1 back on the 360 and general racing game fan) and FH5 was about to Launch.

I immediately jumped on getting this as soon as the leaks were confirmed, loved playing this game over the last 4 Years on my Xbox Series X and am really enjoying starting fresh and earning the Trophies on PS5... Here's hoping when FH6 is announced it's day and date on PlayStation (especially since I'm sure they'll have Cross Save and they'll Auto-Pop the Achievements/Trophies next time around and I won't be able to hold off on playing the game 😅)

Also, I don't get the people that say FH4 is the "Best" one, easily worse than FH1 through FH3 (FH3 is still the PEAK of the Franchise imo also a bit biased as I'm Australian 😂) and I enjoyed FH5 FAR MORE as well. I just didn't like the Map of FH4, the Seasons thing was kinda cool (except Winter, screw Winter, especially as the Seasons last 1 Week REAL TIME) also it has easily the WORST Soundtrack of the Series (luckily all of Horizon XS, the Rock Station, is solid as hell and it's my preferred genre, but all the music on the other Stations just weren't that good honestly unlike the rest of the Series 🤷‍♂️)

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Major Updates Announced, Story Missions, New Game+, and More Coming Soon

MrRhysReviews

@ShogunRok Couldn't disagree MORE. The Mercenaries in Odyssey were BS, the constant harassment really ticked me off (I'd constantly be bringing up the Map, holding Triangle and parting with copious amounts of Money to get rid of them)

The Phylakes in AC Origins were far superior, basically the Mercenaries but a set number of them that you could eventually hunt down and be rid of permanently, FAR better system imo

Re: Sony's Long Anticipated Lost Soul Aside Has Been Delayed Again on PS5, PC

MrRhysReviews

Yeah, I'm good with it since I still have a decent amount of debt to pay off (so new releases in the way is making it a little harder 😅) before the Switch 2 Launch at the start of June... I also have all of August off from Work so now I'll actually PLAY this game when it launches as I'll have nothing else to really do 🤣 (as opposed to just lumping it onto the ever growing "Pile Of Shame" like most releases do these days)

Re: Microsoft Short Changes Indiana Jones PS5 by Only Putting 20GB on the Blu-ray

MrRhysReviews

It was pretty obvious the second you are aware that Microsoft still only uses 50GB Regular Blu-Rays and hasn't shipped a complete Physical (all on Disc) game in like, I dunno, the entire generation for sure (all their games are over 100GBs for the most part) it's why I don't care for a Physical of any of their games on PS5 🤷‍♂️

Forza Horizon 5 is like 175GBs by now on XsX so even if it DID get a Physical on PS5 only half the game would fit unless they went for a 2 Disc release (which they definitely wouldn't)

The real question is will Doom The Dark Ages be on the Disc or not? I'd like to know now so I can get my Digital Pre-Order/Pre-Load in before it launches 😒

Edit: as an aside I will mention that, due to how Indy Installs on Xbox, they could've had a fully playable build on Disc if they wanted. The full game is like 80GBs - 90GBs with a "HD Texture Pack" (which I believe adds the 4K Textures and like slightly better Ray Tracing or whatever) as a seperate 35GB File... They could've gone that route, but again, Microsoft 🤷‍♂️

Re: Talking Point: What Do We Actually Want from the Oblivion Remake?

MrRhysReviews

At this point I honestly just want to play Oblivion on my modern PlayStation System (I have an XsX and can just play the OG at 4k/60fps whenever I want already tbf 🤷‍♂️) so I'd just take a straight up Port at 4k/60fps... The one thing I would actually fix though is the Level Scaling as it basically made the game unplayable by the time you'd reach a high level, I remember that being a pretty big issue (at the very least, with the difficulty slider all the way to the Easy side, the enemies became ridiculously spongy as a result)

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows a Big Sales Hit in US, Beaten Only By Monster Hunter Wilds

MrRhysReviews

Glad it's been doing well it seems, the game is just straight up GOOD.

The online discourse for this game has been absolutely ridiculous... Now 56 Hours in, only around halfway through the main story and so far everything about it has been awesome to me.

I'll add that the last time I enjoyed an AC game this much was AC Origins. Finally finished off (the DLCs and 100% of the Trophies) AC Odyssey around a month ago with a total time of around 200 Hours over the span of about 6 YEARS and I can say I thoroughly HATE that game with a passion... It was such a slog (and funnily enough that same team is the one that's made Shadows 😅) never bothered with AC Valhalla because of that, not really interested either since I'm so over Norse sh*t, and AC Mirage was just eh 🤷‍♂️

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows' Hideout Frame Rate Is a Bug, Set to Be Fixed in Major Update

MrRhysReviews

I play EVERYTHING in 60fps/Performance these days (when given the chance) but I decided to stick with Quality for this one because of the massive graphical jump and honestly I've had no issues 🤷‍♂️

I've noticed A LOT of games at 30fps over the past 10 or so years being really bad, like the frame pacing or something is just off making it pretty much unplayable, but if it's done right it's fine... The Forza Horizon games are another great example, no issues playing all of those at 30fps either (you have no choice in the case of FH 1-3, the best ones 😅)

Re: Indiana Jones PS5's Physical Release Requires You to Download the Game

MrRhysReviews

Realistically the game itself should be there as it's about 80GBs total, there's an additional 50GB "HD Texture Pack" which I believe gives the game all the 4K/Uncompressed Assets to use (maybe some other bells and whistles as well) so I have no idea... Definitely gonna wait and see what the deal is though. If they go the CoD Route and only include like 500MB on it and download the rest I'll buy Digital cause what's the point?

Re: Silent Hill F So Scary Australia Has Already Banned It, Sight Unseen

MrRhysReviews

@Bez87 I know all that but wasn't going to get into all the little specifics. I thought they'd usually send footage of the game (usually in a near finished state) showing said things, and since this game is still, potentially, waaaaaay off and doesn't even have a release year I find it highly strange that they'd submit it for classification... To the Australian Classification Board no less considering they can be the harshest in terms of guidelines (also has me wondering if they intentionally sent it in with the express purpose of seeing why/how they Ban the game so they can make adjustments for the final product, that'd be my most educated guess of the situation here 🤷‍♂️)

Re: Silent Hill F So Scary Australia Has Already Banned It, Sight Unseen

MrRhysReviews

And just like that, the "RC" Rating has been removed. It's either now under manual review (as someone on another forum posted) or it was a mistake to begin with... Don't you need a, pretty much, completed game to submit for Review with Classification Boards? I don't believe this particular game has a release date (or year for that matter, unless I missed something?) so I struggle to see what exactly was submitted and subsequently banned here, seems like it shouldn't have even been submitted in the first place imo

Re: Saints Row Team Thrown Under the Bus: 'They Didn't Know What They Were Building'

MrRhysReviews

Hate this, I swear I read an article shortly after their closure about Embracer/Deep Silver sending someone in/mandating that the SR Reboot take the "Woke" direction it did when Volition actually wanted to do more of what Saints Row was (can't remember if it was more SR1/2 or SR3/4 Style but it wasn't what they ultimately ended up releasing in the end)

Also doesn't help, and annoyed me, that Red Faction was sold off to THQ Nordic (now Embracer) whilst Volition and Saints Row where sold to Deep Silver. I believe Deep Silver wasn't under Embracer at the time but it is now, why not give Volition back their IP and maybe give them a stab at making that again? It definitely would've kept budgets tighter if that was an issue (RF Guerilla was the only Open World one. RF Armageddon, after RFG, went the linear Third Person Shooter route and the OG Red Faction 1/2 were linear FPS games... They could've had their own shooter with MP if they used their damn heads)

Basically the loss of Volition is a significant loss for the industry. They made tons of great games, established some pretty big and beloved IPs and were even instrumental in certain aspects within the industry:

They Popularized the "Six Degrees Of Movement " or full 360° Rotation gameplay/combat as well as created the first "True 3D" FPS with Decent.

They made the Summoner games on PS2 which were RPGs, not necessarily very good but continues to show the diversity of genres they could do as a studio.

The Destruction Tech of GeoMod in Red Faction and GeoMod 2.0 with Red Faction Guerilla later was AMAZING (you could argue the Destruction in RF1 specifically was pretty groundbreaking stuff, especially that early and on the PS2 too)

Also they made "The Punisher" game on PS2/XB/PC... Just thought that was cool, totally forgot about that 😅

Point is Volition is a storied company that has done a lot in (and I guess you could say for? 🤷‍♂️) the games industry at large... They should've never been shutdown. Embracer should've given all their IP back, let them making something else WITHOUT interfering (again, given the context of that article/statement I remember seeing... If it was true of course. I dunno but I'll believe the studio with 30+ YEARS of history over bloody dodgy Embracer 😒) or at the very least sold them, along with ALL their IPs, to someone else instead of just shutting them down. (Yeah this particular closure hit me hard and I'm still pissed about it obviously 😅)
