Monster Hunter Wilds PS5 1

Monster Hunter Wilds might have set new records for Capcom around its launch in February 2025, but since then, sales have been on a considerably negative trajectory.

It has now sold over 11.4 million copies, which is still a huge success for any video game release. However, in Capcom's entire 2026 fiscal year results, it reports sales of just 1.32 million for the whole 12 months.

This means that, just like last year, Monster Hunter Wilds is selling worse than previous entry Monster Hunter Rise, and this time, even the title's Sunbreak expansion. Monster Hunter Rise sold 1.51 million units during the time period while the Sunbreak DLC shifted 1.42 million — both outsold Monster Hunter Wilds.

Capcom will hope a "large-scale expansion" it has in the works will rescue the game, but it's tough to tell whether it shall make much of a difference to the general sentiment surrounding the title. We'll learn more about it in the coming months.
