I mean most studios would kill to have sold 11.5M for one of their games.

The unit for the table is 10,000 so that would mean Wilds is 132 x 10,000 = 1,320,000 (1.32 million sales) for the quarter.

Its the weakest entry since the PSP days. I said all along before launch i had a bad feeling about the game and well sadly i was right.

@Oram77 Very front loaded though and its struggled to keep a playerbsse.

Rise was also on the switch so I suppose that helps having more potential buyers.

@Oram77 I would agree but, it isn't growth and it lost the tail too fast. It simply underperformed by a significant amount especially since it was available to PC day one.

Still a great result taken in isolation.

Rise/Sunbreak are on Switch and super cheap during sales, so no surprise…

I loved MHWilds but theres something endgame-wise that just didnt hit the mark for me. I cant quite put my finger on what it was?
I absolutely loved MHWorld / Iceborne. I couldnt get enough of it.
MHRise was ok but didnt quite capture me on the PS. By the time Sunbreak came out i had already put it down.

I love MH series and im hoping Wilds can pull me back in with its DLC - G rank / Master rank later on. Fingers crossed

It didn't help that once I completed the story there wasn't anything to entice me to keep on playing. Monster Hunter World had so much better post game content and updates, it's like they couldn't be bothered this time round.

Just looking at the steam charts and World has 10k more active players than Wilds which just goes to prove my point.

Wether Wilds is a bad game or not, it already sold 11.5 million copies which i'm sure the total revenue are more than enough to cover Wilds budget and make a new MH game.

But nice to see SF6 at 6.7 million copies and DMC 5 almost 13 million copies. Both games keeps selling well and big chance we will get DMC 6 and SF 7 in the future.

Sadly there's no update for Kunitsu-Gami numbers...

Resident Evil 5 is still the best-selling RE title ever. And it sold better than any MH game in the last fiscal year, which is wild (no pun intended).

My issue is that by the time the games are cheap enough for me to buy, the next one’s on the horizon and they’re too big a time investment.

Makes sense that the sales would really slow down cause the game doesn't have the post-game grind compared to older MH games and I think people are waiting for an expansion before hopping back in, or even buying for the first time.

Regardless by today's standards, at 88 on MC, it's an incredibly fantastic game. If you think it's not doing for you like World did, it's probably more of MH burnout than anything else. Creatures like Segregios alone would make you question the design of monsters in many other games. MH is just an on and off again game, they don't get old, sales and player numbers will go up again with a new expansion out.

I think software sales are down across the board over the past 12 months. Hardly surprising when a carrier bag of groceries cost £60 and the fuel to drive there costs £80 a tank!

Even the greatest game of the year mixtape only has 1000 players on steam.

It's already sold more than 11 millions. Maybe those who wanted to buy it already did? Just a thought.

Wilds lost me when I found out the Cammy skin was for Alma and not my hunter lol... epic fail by Capcom there along with the lack of DD2 DLC 😐

@UltimateOtaku91 Rise is also available on PS4 and Xbox One so its potential install base is twice the size of Wilds' install base since it is only on PS5, Series X/S, and high end PCs. The last generation of consoles is still being played and selling consistently despite the current generation being 6 years old so games available across both are going to sell better. I can't wait until GTA6 releases and people freak out because GTA5 outsells it after launch since it is on older platforms, ie more available customers.

MH Worlds was the last I properly played and invested in, and the game felt huge. I played the Wilds demo, and beyond technical stuff (which was loaded with both pros and cons), I didn't feel the changes to combat were enough to make me invest. It felt like they streamlined hunting, while making enemies more spongey, which is probably the opposite of what I would have liked.

And then Rise released on ps plus, so I have even less reason to buy the newest title.

When the games offer hundreds of hours' content, you can't be surprised to see sales fall off, after the initial hype wears off, when they're offering similar experiences at cheaper price points within their own established franchise. Makes sense that most people, beyond die hard fans, aren't gonna be buying every iteration of the game, but might pick it up a year or 2 after, on a deep sale. Same goes for Resi.

Or maybe live service is slowly dying across all genres. Numbers are down for every game from previous years/releases. I guess the novelty of playing the same game for years on end and having to pay extra for things that used to be included with a game purchase has finally peaked.

I haven't even tried the MH games. I own Worlds, but have yet to give it a go. I wonder how many players are like me; sitting on the franchise but not willing to commit.

I do personally prefer MH Rise, so I'm glad to see it succeeding as well. Hopefully we'll get Rise 2 at some point.

Not exactly a bad selling game.

It ran like absolute garbage though, so I didn't buy it.

I'd rather play Rise on Switch!

Most people are now waiting for the inevitable expansion or further optimisation.

I had a really good time with it but now I'm in Expansion lobby.

My very cool take is that this is because Wilds is 1.) poorly optimized on just about every machine, and 2.) just a worse game than Rise.

Rise is fast, in-and-out, fat-trimmed action. Wilds feels ponderous and meandering, and in my opinion magnified all of World's worst qualities.

Nobody wanted that God awful campaign.

I actually just finished Wilds, and it was my first Monster Hunter game.

I don’t have any past games to compare it to, but I thought it was a very enjoyable experience, cringe and all.

It’s too bad that more people haven’t given it a shot. I gave it a chance and I was very pleased.

I’ve just started playing MH Worlds and I’m really digging it. I can see why people are divided between the two games.

I am super excited for the next game in the series. I think if they can meld what’s great about the two games, then the next one will be an absolute banger!

Fitting, because the game performed and looked terrible too.
I still need to force myself to finish the story.
I am ready to move on to rise 2.

Some of you guys are missing the point. MH World was a massive hit. In fact, it was reported that MHW was Capcom's best selling game ever - and it probably still is. So yes, MH Wild sales are actually really disappointing in perspective.

Bad word of mouth got around after that first week about how badly the game ran (at least on PC) and so that 11m could have been a bigger number if it had good word of mouth.

Personal experience, despite getting a PC that gave me a free copy of Wilds, my time on the game was filled with crashes that forced me to reset my PC fully, not just drop me back to my desktop no matter what settings I tweaked. Did manage to finish the campaign with a friend, but it took way longer and more work than it should have. After the big optimization patch, my friend and I came back and couldn't even get through a single hunt without one of us crashing.

@Mythologue I'm a bit like that. Don't actually own any but I have considered trying the series multiple times. I just have a feeling I'll either hate it and resent myself for paying money for it, or I'll get horribly addicted to it in an unhealthy way. There's no logic behind that theory, just my intuition 😅

MH Rise was a really good portable Monster Hunter game and ran almost perfectly. Very unique theme compared to other games in the series as well. I'm happy to see it chugging along!

I seem to remember previous MH titles showing up in the news again and again with new additions or DLC or something - it seemed they were making consistent news in the year+ after release.

I've heard almost nothing this time around. This is the first I've thought about MH in probably six months.

I didn't pick it up, I was considering it when there's a sale...but it's not on my wishlist, either. I'm just not excited about it, for whatever reason.
