Ghost of Yotei's PS5 Complete Edition Will Get a Physical Disc, But There Are Already Concerns 1

Sony may have made the controversial decision to kill physical games in January 2028, but it remains committed to the medium in the interim.

Fans pondered whether Ghost of Yotei’s Complete Edition – the newly announced expanded repackaging of Sucker Punch’s historical open world – would be getting a disc-based release.

The answer is yes – but unsurprisingly there are already concerns.

So, the good news first and foremost: the box art matches Ghost of Tsushima’s Definitive Edition, and the Seattle studio says it’s designed to “look great as a set”.

But the new Ghost of Yotei cover does have small print in the corner, pointing out: “[Echoes of Sekigahara] available via patch v2.0 or later. Internet connection and account for PlayStation required to download.”

This implies the new DLC content will not be on the disc, which has already prompted preservation advocates to push for more details.

While I’d expect the full, complete Ghost of Yotei game itself to be on the Blu-ray, I think the disclaimer here implies the new content won’t be.

This could be a storage space issue, as the Hokkaido-based sandbox is already pretty beefy, and certain to get bigger with the new content added in.

I do understand the concerns here, but I suppose considering the current climate, I genuinely think it’s a positive this is getting a physical release at all.
