If anything this is a diminishment of the actual real situation, by all these companies rallying round triyng to out grandstand each other, in honour of getting the platinum virtue signalling seal of approval from the general public, more so since it seems to get so much praise.

If you believe these are a sign of geniuine, heartfelt pledges from companies like EA,then you really know you've been misguided somewhere. Only a few years ago they were happy to clean you out of house and home for a few loot boxes. How can people be so short sighted?

Are the issues currently surrounding George Floyd, and racism an issue around the world? Yes, of course they are. Is a Playstation press conference in anyway seriously going to have any sort of culpable detriment towards it, or the movement as a whole in any significant way? No, it's not.

I get that Sony most likely had to bow to social pressures, but this, in my eyes is just a political decision to score points.

This is like those messages you see people put up on Facebook that have some sort of compassionate message, but do absolutely nothing to actually fix the problem. They would have made much more of a statement with a donation to a cause, than by this empty, virtue signalling, politically driven narrative.

@Kiro_Senpai Uncharted is finished as far as Nathan Drake goes. Unless they carry it on with a different protagonist, and go off on a completely different arc, i'm doubtful naughty dog will continue the series at this point, but you never know.

Sadly, I think Demon Souls Remaster will instead be Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver. It's the "Soul" part that was hinted at the State of Play last year that threw people off, it's since been speculated, that LOK is instead the game in question.

This actually makes a lot more sense, as logistically, it's the sort of game Bluepoint would be better handled to create, seeing as they already have somewhat a handle of these types of top down puzzle-esque platforming games, like Shadow Of The Collosus.

I got 10, but to be honest, no one should feel bad about doing poorly on this, some of these games were insanely unremarkable PS1 titles, that are notably obscure, and not popular or well remembered, with the exception of games like Alundra, Ehrgeiz and Bust-A-Groove.

Its awesome we are going to see some games. But when are we going to be hearing about the ps5 itself, its functionality and features?

@ApostateMage Not sure why you'd be watching footage from 2018 where there are gameplay videos as recent as a month old, with over an hours worth of footage showing the state of the current version of the game, as we edge closer to launch.

That 3% must still be playing the game now, as it would take them an eon to go back and forth between some of the quests without fast travel... How can someone NEVER use fast travel, you'd die of boredom eventually.

@Neolit Oh please. There have been numerous studies done on this already that show that violence in video games, and violence in real life bear no significant correlation.

If your personal sensibilities make you feel uncomfortable, that's one thing, but please don't assume that just because you think it's "too realistic", that everyone else who plays this game and can just enjoy the same as any number of horror movies with just as much violence or gore without any significant difference to their psyche.

It's been around for years before video games, it will be around in the future. I get that people find it too much, that's fine, but don't pull the bs card trying to state that it affects the whole population the same way in terms of conscious or subconscious, cause it just ain't so.

The irony is that as many as there is of these "stability" related updates, the frontend UI is still incredibly unstable.

Is this really that big a deal? Devs often test games out on other platforms, for benchmarking and also to see how the code functions in different environments.

Back in last gen, Xbox 360 and PS3 couldn't have been further away in terms of internal infrastructure. Sony's PS3 was notoriously difficult to code for in comparison to Xbox 360s sleek PC based coding software.

Having worked with coders in a dev studio, I can attest to all kinds of extracurricular activities these guys would get up to on the different consoles, sometimes to solve problems on other platforms, and sometimes just for kudos you'd get from your colleagues for managing to get something to work.

It's nice, but also seems pretty pointless.

I mean, whats the point in buying a console at this point so close to next generation?

This is a bit annoying, as I already have Mafia III, and rebuying it again just to play Mafia II seems like wasted money.

GTA V was indeed a great game.....back in 2013, when it launched on PS3, it's still a great game, but much in the same way any other title from that era was great, you don't still see them in the top 10 charts though.

Most people are just in a state of incredulity at its continued selling power 7 years later. Much like others it still baffles me, you would of thought anyone who wanted it by now would of already had it, seeing as it's been on the market for more than an entire console generation at this point.

Great games come and go, this game just keeps coming it appears.

@J2theEzzo Yeah, it doesn't need to be overused, but definitely should of been a feature. I'm sure that kind of stuff happened often in war in 1274 during the Kamakura period.

One small thing bothered me, they tuned down on the gore quite a lot. No beheadings, or severed limbs, which is a bit disappointing, as I think would of added to the realism.

If anything, will be a lull, and people will still be cracking on with their backlog, and the charts will remain with Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto topping them. Wait, not much going to change at all then... XD

@captainsandman Yeah, that's true. It's hard to say because we're just before next gen. Could pull away a bit from the switch sales, dependent on how well they're received. I still think PS4 will continue to sell well, so long as cross platform releases are supported. If that is discontinued, could put a spanner in the works.

Going to be an interesting year from here to see how things start panning out and into 2021.

@GADG3Tx87 The PS4 is easily on course for being the best selling console of all time. In fact, I'd go so far to say that's it's almost an absolute certainty.

420k units is peanuts, especially since there will be a lot more synergy between PS4 and PS5 this generation as the console cross platform status is going to continue, so this will (if anything) continue to keep PS4 sales relatively healthy alongside PS5 release sales.

It's graphical updates, texturing, and draw distance vs 60fps. It's always going to be the prior things due to the fact that developers always want to push the boundaries of how great the games look, until we reach a plateau where we physically can't make the games any better looking or add anything further to the quality of the models, atmosphere, locale etc, it will continue to supply the minimum framerate to enjoy the game. 60fps is an afterthought applied to remasters, and indie games.

I don't really notice it, but that's because I already have an SSD in my PS4.

@doctommaso I don't see a difference. Capitalism is born from greed. The free market is an opportunity for people to make money, and not just a lot, more than is ever necessary to have.

This can't be pictured as anything less than greed. As i said, the people at the top echelons of society are living as capitalists, whilst they impart whatever idealogical policies from the sidelines on the rest of their society.

That's the heart of the point that I was making though. I mean, money is power, and power in money. They are an integral part of each other, and one cannot exist without another. Money allows influence, which is a catalyst to power, and it's almost impossible to have influence without money.

This takes me back to my point on capitalism, which is that despite many regimes championing a difference in political landscape, at the top echelons of society, capitalism still takes hold.

In regards to my opinion on what I'm most looking forward to, I put Bloodborne, as I'm an avid From Software fan, although I've completed all the other major releases like Horizon, Spiderman and God Of War, all of which I'm hyped for the sequels.

Sony know what they are doing, they've seen this kind of thing before and still prospered. Microsoft may well have dispensable cash to blow, but this is a business still at the end of the day, and Sony have the confidence, Microsoft do not going into this battle.

All Sony have to do is hold their nerve, and wait out this storm of conjecture, and come out the otherside smiling. As is with all human nature, people can't help but get caught up in BS, and then hang all their hats on it like it's some sort of godly halo showcasing what's to come.

If that were the case, the battle would already be won, just calm down, and you'll see it's not at all a close case at all. Xbox will try their damndest to try and capture the market from Sony, but they'll fail, and you know why? Because Microsoft always think they know best, until they don't....Which is 90% of time. Sony have trounced them time, and time again throughout the current generation, it would not be surprising to see this happen again, providing Sony don't get jittery, or overconfident.

@adventsephiroth You must be smoking something if you think Brexit is going to be a postive influence for the UK at this point (myself being from the UK, but not living there anymore), it literally couldn't be worse.

You might point fingers at other countries, but they were doing what was in their peoples own personal interests, in the same way that a family would put their own needs first, before others. That doesn't mean there isn't solidarity at times when it's possible (I.E Australias forest fires)

Besides, the pandemic hit the UK the most hard due to poor decision making by the government. Death Toll is the highest in all of europe, not much to be proud about there really. Across the world, the economy is likely to be hit so hard it will throw us into a heavy depression, and just as that takes hold, the UK will be leaving the EU which will ravage the already crippled economy.

You may think it's going to be good right now, but come the end of the year, it's going to paint a different story. You're going to see mass unemployment, poverty along the lines of whats seen in a 2nd world country, overinflated prices and general misery, and on an unprecedented level.

I've never understood this part of trophy hunting.

I mean, i have 33 platinums to my name, which is by no means outstanding, but I enjoy platinuming games that (a) I really enjoy and (b) are challenging.

Getting platinums for the sake of platinums. That is something that I just don't understand. I mean, whatever floats your boat, but from my perspective, trophies are meant to be just that.... something to showcase your achievements. Not an opportunity to just complete stuff you don't even care about, or provides zero challenge, just so you net another platinum.

Presumably, if you're in the trophy hunting game to get as many platinums as possible, you're looking for other people to acknowledge your accomplishments (otherwise why would you collect them from games you don't even want to play, or would otherwise ignore) wouldn't putting games like this, or other similarly super easy platinums in your resume of trophy collections be counterintuitive to the respect you're trying to get from your peers? Anyway, i digress.
