Ghost of Tsushima looks great for many reasons, but prime among them is that gorgeous open world. The island of Tsushima seems like a beautiful place to explore, and the feudal era setting should make it a compelling backdrop. Of course, open world games do have one downside -- they usually have a hefty file size, and it seems Sucker Punch's latest is no different.
Over on the PlayStation Store listing, it states you'll need a minimum of 50GB free space in order to install the PS4 exclusive. That's quite a chunk of hard drive real estate. If you're still rocking an original PS4 with its default HDD, this game is going to consume at least 10 per cent of its storage capacity.
Having said that, most major games are around this size nowadays -- and some are way bigger. Funnily enough, The Last of Us: Part II is going to double the size of Ghost of Tsushima, taking up at least 100GB of hard drive space. If you're planning on picking up both of these titles, you may need to have a spring clean of your digital goodies.

tbh these days that is a rather modest size.
ofcourse this does not include a possible day 1 patch.
i am finishing up some games so when TLOU2 and GOT come out i should have enough free space again. i always delete my games the moment i finished them anyway. come to think of it,the game i installed on my ps4 atm are not that big in size either.
50gb isn't big anymore and it's not a shock to anyone these days having to delete games to make room for new ones. Its also one of the major reasons I don't care about physical anymore as if I had all my games on disc I couldn't just put them in my PS4 to play them anyway
Yep,agree I honestly expected this to be TLOU2/RDR 2 territory so hopefully by the time they get around to Day 1 plus additional fixes after it's not much more than 10-15gb extra...
50GB is just the minimum requirement to fit it all on a Blu-ray. So that's why nearly every game is in the 45-50GB range. No reason to optimise it any further than that. So no surprise really.
I am expecting a 40-50gb day one patch 🤠😆
50gb is peanuts these days, many games in the same ballpark.
I was suprised to see this, thought it was going to be significantly bigger.
Okay so I need to finish and platinum final fantasy 7 remake and finish tlou 2 quickly before installing this game lol. 50GB is not that much though compared to those 2 games.
@GoodGame I got the platinum on Death Stranding and at not one point do I remember having a sword fight or riding a horse 🤔
@GoodGame There's only two gameplay videos available at the moment. The State of Play demo; it showcases exploration; two different combat styles, and a bunch of customisation features. And a lenghty gameplay trailer from a 2018 IIRC. I don't know where you got all the walking around from!
Remember when a 50GB game was considered big?
(Looks at 500GB PS4 Slim thats full with FF7 Remake, Red Dead 2, Modern Warfare)
@carlos82 Yeah but it does mean it's hours faster to reinstall larger games than if you had them digitally.
@Matroska perhaps but I still can't play them anywhere close to immediately which is the main point. Then thinking about it I can set multiple games to download overnight or when I'm doing something else, plus pre loading for new games so I'd still say digital was beneficial in that sense too
Hey at least it isnt nearly 200 gbs like Modern Warfare.
I have a 2TB SSD in my pro.
I feel like 50GB is a modest size now a days. I pretty much buy ALL my game as downloaded simply because I own multiple PlayStations so it saves money in the long run. I have modern warfare installed at just over 100GB, Spider-Man is also quite large download, COD WW2 with DLC is another 100GB, I have the uncharted collection & uncharted 4 downloaded, assassin's Creed Odyssey & I just downloaded fallout 4 from PS now just with those titles my 1TB PS4 pro is basically full. I beat games like uncharted collection then uninstall them. I keep a few games downloaded at all times like Modern Warfare. I'd like to upgrade my HDD to a 2TB SSD but I haven't really looked into it. Can you play games off of a USB 3.0 external HDD? I've found a 2TB one for $50 that looks like a decent solution. Happy gaming!
Imagine how much bigger PS5 games will be.
That extra SSD for your PS5 is going to get mighty expensive when the 800GB (minus the system files) runs out, eh? If they allow you to use an external one again of course 🤣 ... If I know Sony it'll be proprietary and "Their own very special highly tuned SSD" 😳.....🤣
And if you end up being allowed to use a traditional hard disk... Well... It'll be as slow as your PS4 ever was with load times.
Limited space, less than a PS4 pro and very expensive to extend... Yowsers.
Gotta get me an external HD then.
Why would anyone want to go deleting their games? Just get an external HD this isnt a big issue.
I'm OK with that would have been more annoying if it was 100
@TrueAssassin86x tell me, how dod you get to have a whopping 6TB?
