Insomniac Games is one of Sony's busiest and best studios, and while it's currently on the final stretch with Marvel's Wolverine, it appears as though development is already in progress on another superhero action adventure.
Ben Jordan, who acts as the face model for Peter Parker in the Marvel's Spider-Man series, recently posted an interesting image via his Instagram story, though it has since been removed.
Of course, fans captured the post before it could disappear, and here it is:
The image shows Jordan in what looks like motion capture gear. He's posing with his hands like Spidey using his web shooters, and the caption reads "IYKYK," followed by a spider emoji. It's fairly clear what he's alluding to.
Given the series' huge success, Marvel's Spider-Man 3 is practically a certainty, and that's not even considering how Marvel's Spider-Man 2 leaves things hanging for the inevitable sequel.

Whether Jordan's post holds any weight or not, we have to imagine work has begun on the project, and probably some time ago.
One question we have at this point is whether the game will be produced for PS5, PS6, or both.
The time between Spidey 1 and 2 was about five years, and it'll probably take about as long, maybe more, for the next major title. It may be Fall 2028 or later for Spidey 3, then, and that puts it beyond the supposed release window for Sony's next-generation console.
Anyway, we're just speculating now. Are you excited for Marvel's Spider-Man 3, whenever it comes? Tell us in the comments section below.

They need to improve their writing from SM2 as it wasn't... great to say the least, I definitely have more excitement for Wolverine but will obvs still an eye on SM3.
SM2 wasn’t great so it’s hard to get excited for 3. Maybe they got it out of their system now. We will see how Wolverine shakes out.
The Spidey games have been so good. Can't wait for another one.
Spider-man games are always incredibly fun to play, so I'm really looking forward to it. They're comfort games.
@Oram77 Yeah gameplay and world were great but the story was a rushed mess.
Absolutely love the spiderman games but would be nice to make something original again like resistance. They are top quality and could make the next best ip.
I really enjoyed SM1 and SM2 was decent enough, but lacked the same energy and excitement from the original.
My major issues
I love sonys 1st party games so i have no doubt thia will be great
The story in 2 wasn't great, so I am a lot less hyped for 3. Hopefully, the writing improves.
I am also hoping that Insomniac does have a team that is working on something non-Marvel too. They have become a bit of a Marvel factory lately.
Is there any chance Insomniac would ever become free from Marvel shackles?
The second game was pretty disappointing, mostly due to the narrative, pacing, and a feeling that emphasis went into the wrong places (the whole fun fair sequence was such a waste, IMO). Not too excited as I feel I've had my fill of the gameplay, let's see if they can add new interesting elements!
The gameplay is fantastic in the S-M games, so of course I'm looking forward to S-M3. I hope (1) that they don't go on extended flashbacks to before you've got all your powers again, those missions were a drag; and (2) as others have said, improve the writing, the interactions between PP, MJ and Harry in particular were very stilted in S-M2, and MM needs an arch that isn't "I doubt myself" again, he's done that twice now.
They might as well rename Insomniac something Marvel at this point. Feels like Ratchet and Clank are joining Sly, Parappa, and Jak and Daxter in the dead Sony mascot club.
I know more people love Marvel games than not, but, man, I do not like how Insomniac’s turned into a Marvel studio making Ubisoft-esque games. I regret that I was excited when Sony bought the studio.
Can't wait for it.
These games are some of the absolute best PS studio games, and I have loved every one.
I recently played all three back to back, it was an experiment in modern Triple-A gaming, which I tend to avoid. I can't remember the first game other than I wanted more Kingpin and less of those challenges from that social media lady (those were painful) I do remember Spiderman 2 and I did enjoy that game, but only the second-half of the game.
Everything that happened in the first-half of the story was painful to me, it felt like I was completely out of my depth and didn't understand why. I asked some others who were playing it and they said it was politics, they were right. When I hear a superhero ask someone if they voted for Trump? I lose all immersion in the game and play something else. I'd play a third one, but not if they do that nonsense. I game to escape that nonsense, it felt like there was a little too much of that something and it honestly dragged the game down for me until Venom did show up and then 'wow this is great'. Things got darker, more raw, I felt something. But the run-up to that something was like trying to ski uphill. It's a shame because behind all of the fluff Spiderman 2 did have a great story, it just took so long to get there.
I liked Miles Morales too. Those extra powers and abilities added a lot of depth to combat and traversal. I liked Harlem, the culture and the sense of community. I ended up caring more about Miles than Peter, easily. There was something going on in Harlem, it tied into character development. Meanwhile Spiderman 2 did offer a bigger more fleshed out world but those combat/crime events were a waste of time. In the first game I responded to them because I wanted to test new abilities and get those tokens. In the second game I felt like 'well tough luck citizens enjoy being branded/robbed/etc'. The events were over in seconds, I didn't even have to tap a button to stop a vehicle, it felt so watered-down and those tokens were flung at me for the most simple of actions. There was no challenge.
I hope that's not the formula for a third outing. There was far too much time-wasting that led to practically nothing. Like those bird drones, I followed each one and the reward was pretty much non-existent. The world itself was really well built. I found myself heading straight to the Upper East Side to see where I used to live and it was incredibly accurate, I'd never seen a studio pull something off at the scale. I just wish the story hadn't been so much of a slog, I was dipping in and out to read the graphic novels in the hopes that they'd keep me invested and they did. A lot of my gripes with the game were mirrored by others playing at the same time. I don't know enough about Wolverine to have any real expectations. Other than it needs to be fast, gritty, violent and visceral.
Wait what, I though the opinion that the narrative and setting of Spiderman 2 are not that good was a hot take. In any case, I agree. The whole plot of Spiderman 2 captures most of the stuff people don't like in modern Spiderman.
Still, the game qas very fan to play though.
As one of the few people who actually liked Spider-Man 2's plot a lot, I'm excited for the third one. I just hope they have more time to flesh out some narrative beats because 2 did suffer from a rushed ending and it genuinely seems like it's been a problem for most games this gen.
Hopefully they de-emphasize the need for incessant talking during combat. Every encounter just descended into a groan fest because they wouldn't stop prattling on and on and on.
Enjoyed the gameplay in SM2 but the writing? Not so much. Hoping for a good enough improvement there.
I skipped Spidey 2 entirely. The first one is enough to scratch the web swinging itch. I have no doubt that Spidey 3 will be highly-reviewed and make a baskillion dollars, but Marvel just isn't for me these days.
And this is partially why there's such a drought of new IP, particularly in the first-party realm.
Insomniac created some fun and wacky games, but they've been tasked with producing nerd-bait Marvel for the 2020s.
I play these games once in a blue moon because Insomniac Games undeniably make really great games. Sadly, I'm not much into Marvel's IP so its been a bit of a bummer that this is the new thing they focus on now.
The only spandex clad hero(?) I want to see from Insomniac is Captain Qwark!
I've got halfway through SM2 but have no real urge to finish it. Whilst it undoubtedly looks and plays fantastically the open world feels like one of the most empty and artificial I've ever played in. This is partly due to the mission structure and the way the side quests, street crimes and base clearing is actually considerably less fun and restricts playing style more than the first two games. Which means focussing on the main story but that's also the worst of the three by some margin. Maybe it improves in the second half but the pacing and writing is embarrassing in parts and there's something insufferably smug about some of it that has already dated badly. It's all downhill after that opening mission!
I'm not sure what they could come up with creatively to justify a fourth installment (not that it matters because their main justification is an obvious one). Kerching!
Not interested in Wolverine either. The major draw of Spiderman games is the incredible movement and how fun it is to just move around. Wolverine won't have that so it'll be all on the actual gameplay and mission design and if that's anything like SM2 then...
I'd rather they made another Ratchet and Clank game. That last one was/is a genuine all-timer.
yay...another Spider-Man
I'm so happy. Can't wait

(I know I'm in minority)
Good, it's about time the world got some Marvel Comics-inspired media
Why are people surprised that a third game is happening, the ending to the second one made that obvious.
Love the Spidey games, so yes please and thank you.
What are they going to do in this that they didn't do in the other 3 games? Just feels a bit pointless
Deleting the post makes it even more obvious that it's real. Had he just left it he could have had a follow-up post like "jk" with a picture of him shrugging or something.
I didn't play the fist game, the Peter Parker segments seemed boring. I played Miles Morales which was fun and enjoyed well enough, except for MJ basically single handedly taking out an entire squad of assassin's, but I'd probably play 3.
I say probably b/c I'm not getting a $1k PS6 console to play it. Hopefully they'll dual release it on both PS5 and PS6 and just be anti-consumer and make the dlc next gen exclusive b/c clouds.😝
I rather take that Wolverine instead...
Obviously there will be a 3rd (or 4th) game when the whole Spiderman series sold close to 50 million copies. Why would they stop when it printed a lot $$$$$ for Sony, Marvel, & Insomniac.
Heck. I can see Insomniac do a crossover game between Spiderman & Wolverine / X-Men.
I doubt Insomniac forget about Ratchet though. I'm sure they will make a new one on PS6 to celebrate the series 25th or 30th anniversary.
@somnambulance Didn't the leaks reveal the last R&C game not sell well? Spider-Man has been selling really well and we know Wolverine will be one of the biggest sellers this year. It makes complete sense that they make Marvel games giving they print money.
@PuppetMaster The leaks revealed they on making an X-Men game. I'm guessing that will be a PS6 game and released after SM3 and Venom (providing that hasn't been cancelled).
