Re: Feature: 12 PS5, PS4 Predictions for 2021

GilbertXI

I doubt we'll see news, let alone a release date, on starfield for 2021. I think 2022 is where well get news on starfield at the least.

I hope there's gonna be a new IP/resurrected franchise of any sort, sequels are great, but I think Sony needs something new to compete with all the anticipated games coming out for other systems. Possibly an FPS. Killzone 2 was extremely underated IMO, if Geurilla actually puts effort into them they can be great games, but alas. With Goddamn Perfect Dark coming out on Xbox and we know Metroid Prime 4 still exists at the very least. I think Sony needs to expand their pallet, which from the looks of it they are trying to do with new games like Returnal and Destruction All-Stars. High hopes for all consoles going into this year.

Re: Talking Point: Did The Game Awards 2020 Meet Your Expectations?

GilbertXI

Ok, while I don't agree with some of the awards, I'm just gonna say that the accessability and sound(or was it game design? Forgot, either way it's true for me) design were well deserved for last of us part 2. If it were up to me, it would be Doom eternal followed by animal crossing as game of the year, unfortunately cyberpunk didn't get to shine past a buggy launch, that probably would have stolen the show.

Re: Round Up: Cyberpunk 2077 Reviews Mark Another Epic RPG

GilbertXI

I hate the modern review system. Now if it's not a 10/10, it isn't worth it, which drives me crazy. The simple answer is the game was over hyped, they should not have said anything until at least the witcher 3 expansions were wrapping up and it started full development. Luckily I only got into everything around that time, so my expectations are in check I think. As a fan of the original tabletop game, I would probably like it regardless. People are going to be disappointed, there's no way around that, I think a 90 is an acceptable score, it didn't reinvent the wheel or do anything crazy, but the depth is something admirable. Can't wait to play this game.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed into December

GilbertXI

@themightyant Ok, is it really that good? I hear glowing reviews about it, and the last thing I need is another open world game to get hopelessly addicted to. Although I may bite the bullet and get it from all the praise it has.

Also it's free, can't get much better than that.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed into December

GilbertXI

As an Atlus and Zelda fan, I have no sympathy.

But in all seriousness, if you want a great WRPG, Baldur's Gate 3. You are missing out if the only WRPG you care for is Cyberpunk. Baldur's Gate 3. I will keep saying it.

Why are you still here?

Re: Random: This Is What Cyberpunk 2077's Japanese Script Looks Like

GilbertXI

My goodness, they did say Keanu Reeves did either 20 or 50 days of voice recording, don't remember what exact number. I'm so excited for this game, this is a continuation of one of the most silently influential rpgs of all time. You can trace Blade Runner to the tabletop RPG. I implore you to try the game if your into tabletops.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Worried About the Future of Western RPGs on PS5?

GilbertXI

@lacerz hmmmm, out of all of those, I'd like to see sucker punch take a shot at a wrpg, just not with the watered down choice system infamous had. They're also the most consumer friendly out of all of them in my opinion.

Edit: You forgot Edge of Nowhere from insomniac for the Oculus, in 2016. Never played it myself, but it got kinda mid reviews

Re: When Is Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online?

GilbertXI

Before anyone gets their hopes up, we are not going to see anything about persona 6, SMT V, or Persona 5 scramble. Sega and Atlus already released what will be shown from them and there will be PSO 2, a lot of Puyo Puyo stuff, and we will see stuff about the nocturne remaster. Im hoping we'll see more Bravely Default 2 as well, it kind of dropped off the radar after the demo.

Re: Disintegration's Multiplayer Is Being Shut Down Just Three Months After Launch

GilbertXI

@Robinsad Riots from the companies, not the people. You know the N64 floundered for these exact reasons? Harsh censorship and unfair rules Nintendo made that developers were forced to follow, and because everyone had a Nintendo system, they had no choice. Then the PlayStation came along with no rules like that and devs abandoned Nintendo immediately. These are peoples jobs were talking about, you think they wanted to close it down? You think they wanted to make no money? You think they wanted to flop? How could they know what was going to happen until it was on the market? And let's say they saw some sort of negative feedback when the trailer was shown, so they cancelled it, it still won't solve the problem you brought up, as there's the one person who pre-ordered it and felt cheated. V1 interactive is located on the Pacific Northwest, doesn't say whether it is Canada or the U.S. Doesn't matter, both of these countries have a mixed market system, meaning the government can intervene when there is a monopoly or some crap, but the rest of the marketplace is free. This means, again, a risk and reward system dictates the economy. Again, they took a risk, and failed. They literally could not support the project, and they probably wouldn't have made it to the 12 months anyways. They would have gone bankrupt, closed down after their first game, and a lot of people would have lost their jobs. They closed down multiplayer so they could focus whatever money they had left on a new project, starting the process over in the hopes of it going a different path towards profit this time. They had two options, what I just said or keep multiplayer going for the good of the few people that bought it. I doubt the player base would have stayed on after November anyways. They're both not viable options, but ceasing support of the multiplayer is the much lesser of two evils. This isn't about morals, this is capitalism. In a perfect world none of these issues would need to happen, whether at a small or large scale.

Re: Disintegration's Multiplayer Is Being Shut Down Just Three Months After Launch

GilbertXI

@Robinsad the entire point of a free market is risk and reward, and in this case they took a risk and It failed. There'd be riots if they did any form of rule on it in any country with a democratic system. Actually I think it's illegal, although I'm not 100% sure on that. Its like buying and selling stock, a customer buys a game with multiplayer taking the risk that it might flop and lose its value reselling it if they wanted. That's the case with single player games as well, for example the dramatic price decrease on The Last of Us pt 2. Also I think giving refunds would drive them into bankruptcy even more than they already are. I'm just saying closing down multiplayer was the best case scenario possible for the company as a whole, regardless of whether it's scummy or not.

This is why development teams get funded or ask to be bought out, to make reward with less risk. I bet you dreams and last guardian would have been scrapped ages ago if they didn't get funding from Sony.

Re: Disintegration's Multiplayer Is Being Shut Down Just Three Months After Launch

GilbertXI

@Arnna as much as I try to advocate for game preservation, this is the risk any developer has to take when they make online. Unless it's some immortal thing like WoW or league of legends, it won't be profitable to support the game for more than 10 or so years. It's easier to prolong an online game on PC, but that's only if it is wildly successful. Not many people played the game anyways, so what's the point of pouring money into it. GTA online is the only exception I can think of.

Re: Disintegration's Multiplayer Is Being Shut Down Just Three Months After Launch

GilbertXI

@Robinsad Mmm, no, that's not how it works at all. Let's say you bake a batch of cookies, and it costs let's say 10 dollars to make the batch of cookies. But then when you take the cookies to the weekly bake sale, only 2 cookies are bought for $2 each, to make a profit. That's $6 lost. So you're saying you should pile up the cookies, losing more and more money trying to sell the cookies, and whoops, your broke. The developers would have gone bankrupt, they're already bleeding money, closing down multiplayer was the best outcome.

Re: 99% of PS4 Games Can Be Played on PS5, Says PlayStation Boss

GilbertXI

@HotGoomba Zelda, Mario, smash, Pokemon, Xenoblade...if there was one console I'd choose, it would be a Nintendo, then probably PC/PlayStation, and then Xbox. What I don't like is the price hike, $70 is okay I guess, but making games for 80 euros is insane, even if it doesn't affect me. Are they trying to make people go to gamepass?

Re: PS5 Is the Biggest Console Sony's Ever Made

GilbertXI

Holy crap, that's huge. Ugh, not so sure about getting it now, just why? Why Sony, what were you thinking? All you had to do was say this back in JUNE, we would have been fine. I have no doubts it will be a good console in a couple years but now...mmm not so much. They gave me the impression that for once, there won't be the first year drought, but ok I guess.

Re: Talking Point: Did the PS5 Showcase Event Deliver?

GilbertXI

Harry Potter and PlayStation defined my childhood, this is a dream come true. But now that the initial hype is over and I can think clearly, ffXVI has me a bit worried. Its in early development, so things I might say will probably be subject to change.

The frame rate was pretty bad, It was not just my phone. Again though, early development, people seem to forget that.

I have no idea what people were talking about being generic or bad textures, it looked okay, the models are great as usual. The concept is something I don't think I've ever heard before, which very much excites me. But I guess people label anything high fantasy as generic now, that's their problem.

Now for the big problem, combat. People are comparing it to DMC or Bayonetta, which unfortunately I'll have to agree with. Looks kind of bland and uninspired, but again, early development. We all know how much a project can change in a few years when it's from square. They seemed reluctant to show the UI as well, which also furthers my belief the game will be a ways off.

Now, can we just stop and appreciate how utterly awesome the logo is? Probably my favorite out of all of them. Sorry for the long text
