I mean, I've been a gamer since the early 1980s and I think, if we're all being honest with ourselves, we can all see where games media is heading. All media, in fact, seems to be being pushed towards an all-digital, subscription-only format.
We may not like it, I definitely don't, but it is where we will be in a generation or two. And it has been gradually shifting that way for the last 20 years.
@ItsBritneyB_tch Any update on this? I remember signing my nephew up on PS3 years ago and he was on straight away. I hate to think of someone being as disappointed as Adam was happy. I hope it's all sorted for you.
I got mine today for the 2 games I bought over Xmas. I never bothered contacting playstation as it was for about 7 points. So about 0.0007 of a pound and it didn't seem worth it.
Still, I've got them now! I hope everyone else's has been sorted.
I mean, we've got robots building cars, and self-serve checkouts... I guess if corporations can start phasing out actors too, it'll ultimately save them a lot of cash.
In all of this backlash, won't someone think of the shareholders?
My favourite so far has been The Sands Of Time and the series hasn't managed to match my expectations since. This one doesn't really look to be changing that, but I'm willing to keep an open mind.
I really enjoyed The Sinking City. And the atmosphere was so pervasively unnerving, oppressive and tense that I eventually had to take a break from it. I mean, that's a solid 10/10 for "Lovecraftiness"
@QualityGeezer If only things were that simple. It is a shame that certain beautifully crafted and unique games slip through the net just because they're not AAA titles, but there are so many smaller releases, it must be hard to cover everything.
Given that he was unrepentant and, when questioned, professed an eagerness to return to regularly hacking, in combination with his violent and aggressive tendencies, what else were they going to do with him? It's hospital, not prison. He'll get help and, potently, get discharged as a result.
Being autistic doesn't mean they can just keep letting him off with a patronising pat on the head. Intervention, in this case, was clearly essential.
This article is incomplete, however, so I can see why people are jumping to the conclusions here.
While I'm waiting patiently to buy this, I'll just say that I'm very much looking forward to the lack of jump scares. I remember reading once that jump scares in horror were the equivalent of a comedian climbing down from the stage, tickling audience members and saying "Ha! You laughed! I'm funny!"
I don't get to game for long sessions very often any more and, as a consequence, I couldn't get into GTA online. Then all I ever manage to do on RDR2 was feed myself and my horse and then it was time to log off. I can't see that GTA6 is going to be any better suited to my gaming habits.
I've love the GTA series, but this push for ever greater needless detail and busy-work has resulted in them being less fun as games. I want to run over pedestrians by the thousand and then get chased by the army. I don't want to feed and wash my character unless I'm playing The Sims.
In a way, I think GTA3 is still my fave. With San Andreas or vice city a close second. I can't see rockstar releasing a fun, engaging rollercoaster ride of explosions and gunfire. I can see them releasing a game where you have to remember to go to the toilet and hold down a real job and, of course, spend real-world money to buy in-game things.
I mean, I have symmetrical hands so I've never really got the asymmetrical design of some pads. I'm sure they're both great, but there's a clear winner for me on that alone.
However, I actually really love the dualsense so I don't see paying more for what is essentially the same thing. Maybe I'm missing the point.
@saffeqwe Yeah. Japan don't know have a letter X in their language and they designed it. It's clearly a cross. It works in every language if it's a cross.
It also bugs me that real-world aircraft joystick controls are considered "inverted" o.O'
@Toypop agreed. The real enemy here is unregulated capitalism and a wealthy and entitled elite, but I feel like a gaming website makes a poor venue for political and socio-economic discourse.
@RadioHedgeFund I actually loved it at launch too. It was unique
With every update, it moves further from that focused, isolationist experience and feels busier and more overwhelming. I tried to grow an organic ship the last time I played and the mission arc was ludicrously longwinded. Bummer.
I've been looking forward to planet coaster for ages, but I still don't have a PS5. I'll add it to my library just in case the shops ever start selling them on a reliably regular basis.
They fixed all my issues with the single player campaign and I'm well on my way through my 3rd playthrough. I enjoyed it enough to earn the platinum. The multiplayer was unnecessary, in my opinion, and them axing updates for it won't stop me playing the campaign.
It's a shame it had so many issues at launch and that the multiplayer was so bland as it turned into a wonderfully balanced and admirably ambitious game despite its shortcomings. I hope someone attempts to build on the promise of the "play as anyone" gimmick as it had immense promise, even if the full potential was missed in this instance.
I do wonder, however, how many people who hate on this game actually stuck with it for any realistic length of time and how many are simply bandwagoning.
Assuming that the game is anywhere near as good as the first and given that I've spent well over 500 hours playing and repeating that game and its DLC, I couldn't be happier. This sounds like they made this game specifically to my exact requirements.
How often does anyone get to say that? It's made my week!
When I played the open beta of this, I came away with one word in mind above all others: Obnoxious.
The gameplay was good, but the dialogue, and the horrendous, lazy characterisation, stripped to the bone any chance I had of enjoying it, which is a real shame because I really wanted to like it.
Dying Light 2 is the only game I'm looking forward to on that list. I'm still playing the original today. No idea what other two games to pick so I can have my vote counted... I think I'm going to have to lie if I want to get involved.
If you're serious about your sauce, Rubies In The Rubble make the absolute best ketchup I've ever eaten. Blows every other ketchup I've tried out the water.
I guess I'm the only person who genuinely connected with WDL. I truly loved every minute of it. I only experienced one major glitch and it never repeated. I've got the platinum already and I can't wait to do a 2nd play through. I'm just impatiently checking my watch while I wait for the rest of the DLC to drop.
However, we're getting the old lady? Erm.... 🤔 Okay. The marketing for this game is just bizarre.
I genuinely couldn't be happier. We very rarely get sims for PS+ and simulation fans rarely come online to complain about it. This month is our turn, is all.
I'm sure we'll be back to action and explosions next month. And that's fine too.
Wolfenstein 2 and Bus Simulator would tick two off my wanted list. Eclectic mix, though. Not sure it would please many other people.
Unfortunately, I've quite a large backlog so I imagine it'll be at least one I own. But as long as it is quality, I'll not complain! The last few months have been super strong even though I've had them all already.
I used to love OPM back when it was pretty much staffed by PlayStation Access' OG line up, but here's the thing, given the amount of plastic packaging (and the manufacturing costs to the environment) combined with the inate latency of print compared to internet news, magazines are irrelevant now. It makes a lot more sense to read news and interests online. Both in terms of speed and environmental impact.
It's sad that magazines have become a relic, an archaic reminder of how patient we used to be, but such is the nature of progress.
I'm struggling to see the benefit of making someone work at a computer for that length of time. Their work will slow and they'll make mistakes. Hire more people. That way there's no bad press and you create more jobs, surely?
Can someone explain to me why companies don't do this? Or is it simply that they are too indoctrinated by the uncompromising ideals of capitalism to see the human cost here?

Re: Poll: How Long Should Games Be?
I think a game should be as long as it needs to be. Imagine a game like No Man's Sky or World of Warcraft having a 40 hour limit?
To put a blanket time limit on all games seems to detract from the immense variety in the medium.
