Now this is the kind of game I buy PlayStation consoles for. Still Jealous of how many Japanese games Steam gets that we don't though.

It wasn't that long ago that somebody argued with me on a comment section like this that "nobody likes to play old games really" including "anything older than five years really".

People really do come out with some absolute dogshit online.

@Miserablefish It's ridiculous but there is an alarmingly large amount of people who think this way. Like it's more of a social event to them than an actual game.

They'll play the most popular releases, say it's the most incredible thing they've ever played, then a week later they'll never talk about it again and move on to the next thing.
The 90s and the 00s are filled with masterworks and overlooked gems, so it's their loss not ours.

@Miserablefish yeah but this game doesn’t really fit that bill because it’s being remade. People don’t have any issues playing “old games” that are remade on modern engines with modern controls. There are certainly masterpieces in story, characters, world building, etc. from old games that stand the test of time. But to actually play a game from the 90s or 00s is an absolute chore.

Let’s hope for that global release.

Well Dokyusei was good (regardless of the adult content removed as expected for console releases compared to PC ones and stance on them per release or other PC storefronts on websites compared to major storefronts), sadly I can't get it on Switch I could only for PS4 so that's unfortunate of availability, visibility, regional offerings, etc.

I'm fine with more old visual novels or current ones coming to console. I'd be happy with Purple Software offered Chrono Clock on console and removed the adult content endings but they won't. I don't see some studios doing so.

Plenty of great visual novels worth offering for sure. Though depends on the licenses or audience even if the scale of visual novel audiences is fair so far over the years or visual novel fans messaging things. Many H-anime happening, many visual novel adaptation anime and expanding to manga and more.

Still if more become available that's cool, but again why is Konami not offering their other visual novel IPs or others?

But then again like many their other IPs don't matter so sigh. Time for translations or just the prior releases for the IPs I guess as the only options unless we can get enough support for the existing, or others out there.

@For-Kier Depends on the game yes but also how much of old games have gameplay cut in the modern era to the story/graphics and more we get nowadays with the more RPG or basic gameplay I've ever seen and put me off many modern games, or Indies inspired but don't have the skill level or just make basic games that have the 'personality'.

I've played many 90s/2000s/motion controls games and put my mind to how they work, how many are willing to do it. But I also am familiar with 90s/00s games so that's also on me. While 80s games I'm not but still made the effort to learn with and without a manual just trying things. Depends if some people are willing to make the effort.

Sure old games difficulty was a factors but many gameplay ideas just cut to be 'what they are now' it says a lot in some cases. To me racing games are just so safe and the players that are car fans just eat it up, I can play many old ones and go wow they had ideas back then not just easy car drooling and locations, but creativity, no wonder the genre is so basic nowadays.

Let alone others I can compare, shooters having their focus compared to gimmicky ones but still played like COD or Gears but their ideas were still good besides the framework repeated stuff.

Platformers that feel like inspired or 'family friendly' game to play but have none of the 'platforming' the genre is known for.

Others have theirs and such. I think puzzle games, adventure games, hack n slashes, tactics games still have enough of their cores going strong and ideas still doing well in all sorts of ways, while other studios/genres are just so flat I find nowadays.

Even FMV games are having some fair directions over the past few years too. Besides the re-releases of old ones too.

Even besides the efforts of getting access to old games too (licenses, as well to factor in not just availability of physical old games), the console, the peripherals, how to play them, etc.

Some I go sure I can easily play this, some I struggle with. I've played many platformers, racing, shooters to see what I missed from those trends, and other times other genres and other things.

Many are either not that exciting, are exciting and have great ideas or are yeah a pain to play. But it varies for sure on the design of them.

Even modern games have their annoyances or like many things, not good enough controls menus or remapping 2 to 3 button combos or even showing them on controls screens. Systems we know are by design, being boring is a personal things but that doesn't effect everyone of course.

But it varies per game, the effort devs put in, etc.

There is a lot of factors in old games that are very behind while story, artstyles can hold up, some do in gameplay (if it was that effective in the past, or because of engines or design ideas or controllers, etc. over time, even some modern games I'm like wow you can make floaty characters it's just most devs don't for a reason and I'm like why? Sigh decisions they make sometimes)

But most don't or some are 'too creative' or 'too experimental' (in some cases that was a bad thing for some audiences in others we got used to them, jumped genres, remember them like anything capable of) and we dumb a game down too much and it loses a lot then refining it for many audiences.

Whether for trophies, or skipping parts or different scales of puzzles that are per difficulty, but that doesn't happen. It does for some games in others they are too focused and streamline it too much.

Part 2:
I could come up with tons of ways to suit all audiences of main content, side content, etc. but they just won't do it as it's a waste and I can see why but still.

So they make it the most easy to play but it lacks personality (well those some people seek anyway), fun gameplay and charm, but it varies per game the pacing, the goals in mind, etc. Who's perspective it is. Goals/roles of things, what I can come up with for a creative character for gameplay and everyone else will for a character that talks, its very clear why.

Those passionate and repeating themselves as well of new IPs that are the same just a different license but that's it's own other factor of veterans devs, compared to old games revived, what's kept, what is cut, what is reworked completely, etc.

Those saying oh it's old have no idea and don't care other then social nonsense or 'look I played this think' we know they don't have a brain anyway, while the rest of us play old, new, use old consoles only go for re-releases/remakes, it varies what were looking for of course.

@For-Kier you'd hate the majority of the games I play then.
