If you're on the fence about Brigandine Abyss, an upcoming playable demo will help you decide whether it's worth your time.
The game is a strategy RPG and the next entry in the old school Brigandine series, which dates back to the original PlayStation.
If you're into games like Final Fantasy Tactics or Nintendo's Fire Emblem, it might be worth grabbing the demo and taking it for a spin.
The demo will be available for PS5 players starting 30th July 2026, just under a month ahead of the game's launch on 26th August.

"Play the first two seasons of the Gran Dragnica and Scarlet Will story campaigns on July 30," reads the press release from publisher NIS America.
"Follow Largo as he tries to find out what is turning the dragons into pawns of evil, or stand with Garnet as her company refuses to back down against the Abyssloa Empire. Recruit monsters send troops on quests, and plan your attack during the Organization Phase before experiencing Brigandine Abyss’ hexagonal grid-based strategy battles during the Invasion Phase."
Unfortunately, save data from the demo won't carry over to the full game. Still, it'll be worth checking out if you're interested.

This looks fantastic. Unicorn Overlord got me back into strategy games - Fire Emblem Three Houses didn't scratch that itch, but this looks like it might. Thanks for the head's up on the demo.
May be worth a look
@IntrepidWombat Unicorn overlord is actually a low-key master piece, I played it earlier this year and literally couldn't put it down!
Does the demo come on disc? 🤭
@Oram77 Right? It took a couple tries to really get into it, but once I did, it was an effortless platinum.
@IntrepidWombat Absolutely! The only down side for me it was a bit easy at the end... or maybe my team was just cracked
@Oram77 Loved it and got the Platinum on it. I had the same issue with the ending, if you build your teams up you be unstoppable because it's not that hard.
I do wish the game had New game plus or more depth/endings.
@QBGaming12 I really enjoyed the "wedding" section and yes I wish that level of depth was used more through out the game, kinda crazy it never got DLC.
I tried the demo of the previous game in this series on Nintendo and just didn’t vibe with it
@Oram77 With how much Vanillaware puts into their games budget wise it wasn't too surprising to me about the DLC but they did make the budget back and it sold well which I was extremely happy about. Hopefully the next game they make is awesome as usual.
I did enjoy the wedding ceremony and picked Rosalinde in my one play through. Tough to pick between the Dark Elf(Rosalinde) and her twin sister Etolinde.
Between Brigandine and Star Wars Zero Company August is shaping up to be a great month for strategy fans.
I’ll definitely play this at some point, but the August-September schedule is packed with games I want to play.
@datamonkey I bet next year Sony will release a deluxe physical edition of the demo with some artwork in a steel box for $70…
@For-Kier hah yeah probably!
