I love new hardware and am usually an early adopter but for PS6 I think I’ll probably wait a few years until upgrading. (unless I give in to hype and fomo 😂)

The generational gaps are so minor these days and cross generations last years as we’ve seen with PS4/5.

MS knew PlayStation wouldn’t release games on Xbox so this is a clever way for MS to make that happen anyway.

I wonder if it’ll change Sony’s stance at all releasing on PC. They did say recently they didn’t want to dilute the console value and this could really do that in my opinion.

I find it strange to spend $70b on studios only to then shutter a lot of them. I suppose they retain the IP but it’s not a good look for Microshaft.

I mean why did they release it in this state, it’s crazy…

@mrbone not specifically no. I’m sure they have grinds too but at least they seem to be awarded for it instead of being laid off! At least in a few cases anyway.

It’s a shame Sony haven’t supported PSVR2 in better capacity and makes you wonder why they even released it knowing they probably didn’t have the resources to support it.

Let’s face it they barely have the resources to support the PS5 itself with output that’s slowed to a game a year. A far cry from years gone by and yes I know games take longer to make blah blah but they’re not stupid and have known this was the trend for over a decade.

I’m not surprised Herman was demoted and feel he should go back to studio work.

It’s refreshing to see these smaller studios treating their staff well, especially compared to the big corporate studios who just seem to create grinds and layoffs.

Funny as I feel MS and Sony are slowly pushing people to PC either on purpose or unintentionally.

I know people have been calling the death of console for years, incorrectly so far, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t exist in a few generations time.

@twitchtvpat yes all true and I agree though while these studios are making the normal AAA titles maybe some others could be brought on to make some smaller scale games which are cheaper and quicker to make? The likes of gravity rush, stray etc spring to mind.

I feel the first party slate is looking a little slim right now.

With development times taking longer it’d be nice if Sony made some studio acquisitions to help increase the output back to PS3 levels, especially in light of MS’s massive studio list.

Though I suppose now MS are releasing on PS maybe they feel they don’t need to. Who knows!

Congrats to Nintendo seems they’re off to a good start but like sammy alluded to, they should be seeing as they’re not against a pandemic.

Loving my switch 2 next to my pro. Should keep me going for the next 3 years until the ps6!
