Re: Poll: Is Cyberpunk 2077's Poor PS4 Performance Acceptable?

Devlind

This is why you don't preorder games. If it wasn't running properly on consoles, they should have delayed it more and released it on PC to get some money back (which is why I think they finally released it to be honest. So many years of development + covid surely meant a big investment).

Re: Nintendo Putting Pressure on Sony to Remove Dreams Creations on PS4

Devlind

@iamtylerdurden1 First of all, I never said that they do, so that's out of the question already.

We don't have any metrics released by Media Molecule to get the actual number of Nintendo related creations in Dreams AFAIK, so that is a shot in the dark at best, but correct me if I'm wrong.

About this causing any harm to somebody, I believe that is hardly relevant here since none of us really owns the IPs. What we see as harmful or helpful for an IP may be way different for the IP owner.

As I said, creators may not make any direct profit, but Sony/Media Molecule still are, that's why Nintendo is targeting Sony and not individuals. Dreams isn't free. Even if no one actually bought it to play Nintendo related rip offs, those are still available there. Take Youtube as an example. They also discourage the use of copyrighted material and they promote original content, but that doesn't stop people from doing it and IP owners from claiming it. The same can happen here.

At the end of the day, most corporations are "greedy pricks". I'm not on their side, but I understand they need to protect their IP, especially because, in the case of Nintendo, said IPs are their main source of income.

About Nintendo not supporting creativity (by letting others work with their IPs) is not true at all. You can see their recent collab with Brace Yourself Games. That's an indie development team and they still got the rights to work with one of Nintendo's biggest IP. Nintendo wants to work with developers to ensure the quality of the games so they don't dilute the value of their IP.

Finally, that's a weird flex, but ok. If you see this as the right way to express your discontent, please go ahead. I mean, that might do more than replying my comment.

Let's remember that, even if the creators of these minigames aren't making any direct profit, Sony/Media Molecule still are. IIRC, a lot of the most popular creations in Dreams have Nintendo-related content. They could be a reason why some people might pick up Dreams to begin with (that's why Nintendo isn't targeting individuals but Sony instead). We also need to consider that some streamers are profiting from streaming these too. At the end of the day, they are entitled to protect their IP, we like it or not.

Re: Poll: Do You Think Google Stadia and Streaming Are the Future of Video Games?

Devlind

It really depends of the market. With games steadily (but surely) reaching ridiculous file sizes of 100GB+, I see streaming as a great option to let us play instantly and with better visuals than the system would be able to provide. That said, for it to become mainstream, they'll need to figure out how to deliver a decent quality service even with slower internet connections. Fiber isn't available at every country, so developing an streaming-only device would cut those markets almost entirely. Other thing to consider is the duration of the servers. We know they are not gonna last forever, so buying a game and then having it being unplayable would suck more than having it downloaded to your system. So yeah, for now I believe we could see a mix of both on the next gen.

Re: Guerrilla Games Has Doubled Its Women Workforce in a Year

Devlind

@Flaming_Kaiser Call me crazy, but none of the comments on this thread are trying to say that this is wrong, just that it seems mostly pretentious. The closest thing that some have said about it is that hopefully they were hired for their abilities instead of their gender. As far as we know, Guerrilla just bragged about the number, not about their job so there's that to take into consideration.

I don't know what that last bit has to do with anything about what I've said, so I'll kindly ignore it.

Re: Guerrilla Games Has Doubled Its Women Workforce in a Year

@Gamer4Lyfe That just makes it look even more pretentious to me, something to gain attention, not actual recognition for the women in their workforce. Look at the key word of their tweet: "We have doubled the number of women making games @Guerrilla since last #InternationalWomensDay". It feels likes just a little pat-pat on the back than actual recognition like: "We want to take a moment to thank the women @Guerrilla for their exceptional work and dedication. Without them, we don't know if could have achieved our goals to provide great experiences to our fans. We are truly grateful for their work!" or something like that.

Re: Early Review Copies of Sekiro Won't Be Sent Out to Press or Content Creators

Devlind

I love From Software games, but I think I'll hold myself from buying it now. Not because I'm afraid that Sekiro will be a bad game, but because they usually release DLC some time after launch and we end up with a "Complete" version for the same price as the base game. It happened with Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3, so there's no reason for this game to not follow the same, especially considering that Activision is the publisher.

Re: Guerrilla Games Has Doubled Its Women Workforce in a Year

Devlind

Great, now they can do the work fo 22 men!

Jokes aside, this shouldn't be worthy of an announcement. Don't take me wrong, I'm glad they are making an effort to be more inclusive and such, but doing this kind of thing only makes this seem like a pretentious move instead of an honest effort to make this the norm, just like how celebrities film themselves helping the ones in need to make themselves look good.

Re: Talking Point: What Free March 2019 PlayStation Plus Games Do You Want?

Devlind

@Cycologist Oh, well, I didn't get the chance to get it back then, so I would take it if they end up repeating it (I don't know if they do). And well yes, The Last Guardian was released in 2016, but For Honor was released in 2017 and they put it on this month's Plus games, so I don't know if the release date is really a problem here.

Re: Soapbox: Crackdown 3 Is Proof That Microsoft Is Still Playing Catch-Up to Sony

Devlind

I'm very happy with my Switch and my PS4 at the moment. Both have all the games I'm interested in playing so far. At least for me, there's no reason to get a Xbox One unless it is cheaper where you live (at least over here it is) or if you want a slightly better graphical performance in some games (on Xbox one X) and don't want to buy/build a gaming PC.
