We don't know how many games the Final Fantasy VII Remake will be split across, but the title's producer has said that those future entries will have a quicker development time than the experience that kicks things off in March 2020.
At E3 2019, producer Yoshinori Kitase took to Twitter to say: "While the development team finish the first game in the project, we are continuing to plan and outline the overall volume of content for the second. Due to the work already done on the first game we anticipate development of the second game to be more efficient. We have our own internal schedule and plan, but for now we’d like to focus our information on the first game in the project."
It's definitely good news for fans, who have been waiting for this initial game since its announcement all the way back at E3 2015. It appears that the work done on Midgard will be used as a sort of basis for what comes afterwards, as character models and the battle system will already be complete. Hopefully it'll be smooth sailing from then on out, but we still don't think you'll hear anything of the next game in the lineage until the PS5 has found a home in our entertainment systems.
Are you pleased with this news? Predict how many years we'll be waiting until this whole thing is complete in the comments below.

Bit disappointed to be honest, I can still see it taking years. I’d rather just buy them all when the last one comes out so I can play the proper whole story in one go.
I’m not sure what titles they’ll be running, I don’t really like it being called FF7 Remake. What are the rest? FF7:2 Remake?
They should have gone with some sort of subtitle for each entry. Final Fantasy 7 Origins. I don’t think a games used that subtitle before.
Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited for this game, but I'm concerned that it's gonna be a repeat of FFXV, in that by the time the next part comes out, audience interest will have dropped a lot.
Anyone remember Episode Ardyn? I don't even know anyone that played it.
@alphadrago5 i see your point, but I dunno. Regularly I don’t get DLC for games I love, but sequels are another matter. These episodes will probably feel more like sequels.
@kyleforrester87 There was ages ago a Final Fantasy Origins game. It was a complilation of FF1+FF2 for PSone. They named the new game FF7 Remake for marketing reasons I guess so the others will be Second Part of something like that.
@alphadrago5 I loved episode Ardyn. It expanded and explained the lore of FF15 perfectly and I'd really want to see the other episodes that were scraped.
@Frigate Crossbuy is a thing of the past. Regardless of BC I'd like if you could update to a full scale PS5 version with a small fee though.
@belmont oh yeah. I have it on my shelf. Well, this can be FF7 Odyssey, then.
Is the rest of the game going to be sold separately? If so £60 a pop for what was one game on the original ps is just too steep for me! I am sooo hyped for this game but don’t really want to spend the region of £120 - £180 on this overall game even though it is a remake
@Rooty1985 no the rest of the game will be free, delivered to you on the back of a flying golden Chocobo signed by President Shinra himself.
@Frigate If they end up being three games I see no reason to stop releasing them on PS4. The console will be relevant for at least 3 to 3.5 years. The only thing is the scale of games may be too much for current generation.
@kyleforrester87 FF Odyssey is actually a cool title, especially if they include stuff from Crisis Core (off-topic I still don't get why this game is not available on Vita).
As for the total price I guess they could price the next parts cheaper or offer them as DLC for the first game but it is obvious they won't do it. We are looking for full 60 Euro releases. However if they release them every 1 to 1.5 years I won't mind that much to buy a full content-wise FF game, it is my favourite series after all. In the end of they day most people here buy Fifa, Pro Evolution and Call of Duty every year. What I want is to be able to play the sequels on PS4 in case it takes me some years to upgrade to PS5.
The so called dlc for summons if you ore order has peeed a few people off and I'll have to agree on that because summons shouldn't be MTs but I'm expecting SE to sell materia packs for a small fee.
Like 2 All materias for £3.99 and all that crap
@Frigate hmm unless they’ve changed it in the remake, you’ll have to wait until Kalm Town where you’ll find a Guard Source. I hope that helps.
DLC wigs/dresses/cologne for Cloud's lady outfit.
So Crunch Time then.
@Nakatomi_Uk yup that is worrying. I will wait and see but if this ends up having microtransactions you will see an absolute ton of negativity online like we have never seen before (outside of brexit).
@kyleforrester87 FFVII Remake The Pre-sequel?
@JohnnyShoulder I wish I had a funny but my brains gone blank
Call it Final Fantasy 7: Modern Warfare. That title hasn't been used enough.
I'm expecting a TLoU and it'll be FFVII Remake Part II
Then Part III... IV...
So this "trilogy" is going to be much like FFXIII then, right? Each game tells its own story, but the overall arc is 3 games long? Despite the quality of the games themselves, I don't think anyone complained about the shortness of each FFXIII game. I'm sure this will be similar in that regard. It's not a beat for beat retelling of FFVII, it's going to be going to a lot of new places not even seen in the original game, I guarantee it.
@kyleforrester87 origins yeah that would of been good or odyssey, be very original... 😜
@kyleforrester87 since it's nomura, he probably should have named it "final fantasy 7: Re: imagined 1.1/1.3"
@Paper92 FFXIII was made trilogy after the fact I believe. A trilogy no one asked for ....
@Paper92 We also don’t know if it’s a trilogy. SE doesn’t even know how many episodes there will be.
@kyleforrester87 Ugh... no bro. Just no. Video games should not be allowed to have the following words in their name anymore: Origins, Odyssey, Legend, Shadow, Dead, Soul, Zero, Legacy, Tales, Kingdom, Ultimate, Super, or the three words in succession: Call of Duty.
Good, I hope at least we got 2 ff7 remake for ps5. Ff7 remake 2 and 3 for ps5, and finishing it with ff7 remake 4 and 5 on ps6
@alphadrago5 You can hardly compare the two. FF15 is nowhere near as popular as 7. In fact, I don't think there's another that could compare. Maybe 6 but the fans are far less vocal on that. Also, you're comparing a DLC to a continuation of the main storyline. If they come out with the world map and show us that they're not messing around and no corners were cut, people will buy it.
