Pubg still gets 750k concurrent players on steam daily. Insane considering it’s like 10 years old. At this point it looks like pubg will out live fortnight

Sony aren’t really capable of creating huge first party games to shift hardware at these prices. Certainly not in the near future anyway.

Ram shortages won’t be over by 2028 plus we are likely to have another inflation spike and maybe some quantitative easing which won’t help with inflation. I honestly see no issue with consoles going down the same path as mobile phones. People are happy to spend £1000 to walk around with the latest phone (while they only use it for scrolling the internet)

£50 a month for the console plus PlayStation ultimate (or whatever they call it) included. People will happily pay that.

What a time to be alive! Someone refuted my claim that the ps6 will be £1000+ and would be available as a bnpl deal like with mobile phones. I keep saying ram prices will not drop for 5 years minimum!! My workplace is now his starting to bring back three shifts and staffing up as order from micron and intel are flying in.

@themightyant my reasoning is because the combat in tlou2 is incredible (compared to the first game) the atmosphere and setting is also great. Obviously the gameplay loop would need to be varied and have a lot of depth but a pvp/pve last of us would be great imo.

Reviews have been generally poor across the board but the game is still shifting a lot of copies. I can imagine this game being remarkable if they keep working on the issues.

@Vertere I don’t care about working conditions for people that aren’t in my country! Sorry if that upsets anyone but I’m sure all the people that disagree with me buy cheap Chinese products made by slave labour and children (and have been buying these products for the past 20 years)

@Oram77 cartoony platformers will never be a massive seller anymore. Maybe Mario is the exception to that rule but in general gaming has moved on.

@Fritz167 Intergalactic has been pre judged as a woke game before we’ve even seen any gameplay. People also have a hate boner for druckman so I actually expect the game to sell badly.

Most fun I’ve had recently gaming wise has been resi requiem. I found the game length perfect for me, any longer and I start to get fatigue with a game and start to rush through missions just to complete the game. I essentially give up caring because the gameplay loop gets repetitive. Single player cinematic games should be 10-15 hours and £60 imo.

@Northern_munkey I’m an older gamer so mostly only have time for single player games I can play at my own speed. I did however pump a load of time into arc (which is accessible) you can perceive my criticism of the game and the media’s portrayal of the game as trolling (or whatever you like) but I have only been voicing opinions and concerns that the vast majority of gamers have with this game. My main reason for pointing these things out isn’t threads is because I believe most “reviews” of this game read like paid advertisements rather than a true reflection of the game.

As I said yesterday the game is being very much enjoyed by the very small percentage of gamers that it’s aiming to please. That isn’t a successful strategy for a game with this budget.

Make it free to play asap! The game reviewed well from the people playing and the press but the vast majority of people dislike the art style and genre. This game has flaws that aren’t being addressed or even recognised by the msm and fans playing. I imagine the budget they have for the game will keep it going for 3-6 months before huge layoffs and a winding down of future content.

New studios will rise from the ashes of these dead corporate ones. Worst thing to ever happen for gaming was the money men taking over.

They are smashing it considering how badly the game reviewed.

It was a good run! One that lasted a lot longer than I expected. Not many games last this long (as we’ve seen a lot recently)

Skill issue, rng issue, time lock issue, full squad issue. You can’t fix all of those issues easily without rebuilding the game from the ground up. They designed a game for the top 1% of gamers and they will have a player base that reflects that.

Grind all week and lose all your gear on the weekend to no life sweaty streamers. How does this get approved in the first place. Originally when this game was announced I remember they wanted to make a more accessible extraction shooter. Then they invited people like shroud to give them feedback and made the most inaccessible extraction shooter in existence.

@Krlozgod coding jobs are one of the fastest job roles being replaced by ai. A computer can write code much quicker and with far less mistakes than any human.

The generative ai for artwork is just scratching the surface. Ai will be used to code games from the ground up. Jesus we already have ai gaming reviews published on metacritic.

Most obvious 9/10 I’ve ever seen in my life. Quick question did the reviewer actually manager to complete Cyro archive? Because from what I’m seeing only the no lifers have the kit and ability to finish the end game.

Either way we waited weeks for a real review for game changing content tha 95% of players will never be able to fully witness. The lead developer has already tweeted that they are looking at ways to completely revamp the system because players find it so unfair. Sentiment from the hardcore destiny players that wanted to love the game have stopped because of this new map. No wonder people use YouTube for real reviews

Every game uses AI. They only admit it when they get caught out. It really isn’t the big deal people make out and will become the industry standard.

How far off is this game?

@wildcat_kickz a $250m game that sells a million copies and has lost 50% of its player base in two weeks can’t really be described as successful. Half dead might be the wrong description but I struggled to find a more apt one.

@Oram77 Everything I’ve said is valid! Also marathon is half dead already so let’s not compare it to one of the most successful live service games of all time.

The end game is here so we can finally get a full review. Only caveat is that the end game needs you to be full level on every class plus it’s only available on weekends. The fact that reviews were withheld for something only the sweatiest players will ever see is insane. 10/10 must buy

@Ashkorsair because this website is a shadow of its former self! It’s still the best of a bad bunch and the very last gaming media website I actually visit.

Just watched 3 reviews of YouTubers i trust and all of them say the game is great! Media reviews are such a joke these days! Unless you pay them they’ll try and tank the overall scores.

This game will sell more than marathon and have similar reviews. One will be touted as a failure while the other will be lauded as a misunderstood masterpiece.

I almost guarantee user reviews are higher than “journalist” reviews. But don’t worry the marathon review scores will all be 9’s

Games don’t need better graphics! It’s time to concentrate on making the core gameplay better than worrying about a few extra shaders and textures.

When agi is 100 times more intelligent than humans and can scale 1000 times faster we’ll see how this statement holds up. The world has been transformed beyond recognition over the past 25 years. The next 25 will only accelerate that change! When something can learn and adapt quicker than we can think it will be able to create things we can’t even imagine.
