@Northern_munkey that’s how dlc has been perceived since its inception. Rightly so imo! When they first created “paid dlc” developers actively removed sections of gameplay that would normally be included and things have only gotten worse since.

@Jay767 it won’t matter! Any new game mode they add will just be an afterthought and rushed. Making the game pure pve with very few enemy types will get boring very quickly.

Beginning of the end for bungie. I find it incredible how short sighted devs can be. No way anyone really expected marathon to able to replace the destiny franchise in revenues! If they did it would say a lot about the management running the studio.

I guess they’ll start development of destiny 3? Either that or the studio will me massively downsized because no way will marathon be saved or earn enough to pay 800 people.

I answer is game development moves to the east and most western studios end up closed permanently or relocating. The market has eaten itself with insane development cycles and costs all to have slightly better looking grass or some fancy ray tracing.

Sony don’t need to advertise the ps5 pro. They just need to wait for gta6 to launch. After that they won’t shift any.

Just make the lowest tier cheaper with no monthly games included.

@Oram77 believe me i know I’m in the minority for wanting to play single player only games. I actually don’t have a huge problem with live service, I have a huge problem with Sony neglecting their fans for going way too far with their live service push.

@AgentMantis people calling this game out online won’t have damaged the games sales imo. The reason this game isn’t selling is because the art is generic, the game isn’t a game, and titles like this generally sell very low amounts anyway.

@pyrrhic_victory I’m the same. My favourite games are tlou (part 1) resi 4 (2005) and majora’s mask. Apart from playing these games through multiple times at release I have never gone back to them again and never will (unless they remake make the game eg: resi 4)

I guess my brain isn’t built to play the same games over and over again unfortunately. Hence why I detest modern gaming so much

Did marvel rivals and arc raiders expect to be so successful? My guess is probably not. As I said yesterday you can’t just order a mega live service hit like you do a delivery pizza.
Sony would be better off buying the arc raiders devs now rather than trying to make their own games from scratch. Saying that Sony somehow let bungie make the disaster that is marathon instead of insisting they make destiny 3.

@TrollOfWar What baffles me is why anyone would want to keep playing the same game for 10 years+
For me personally I’m usually waiting for a game to end after about 20-40 hours max. It probably a generational thing I guess.

@VeganH marathon are going to run two experiments for season 2. The first half will be pve with a much smaller proportion of pvp and the second half of the season they are trying a full pve only mode. In other words they have zero idea how to fix the mess they’ve made. Ironically the hardcore sweats are all angry about it so they might have just lost the small player base they already have.

@get2sammyb the live service success stories are either games that have always had huge followings (and perfectly fit the genre) or games that didn’t plan for the success they’ve achieved. You can’t have a boardroom meeting with a load of suits and just order up some live service juggernaut. Best thing Sony could do is buy the next successful game rather than trying to make one.

I have zero problems with a younger interpretation of James Bond. I just hope they haven’t made this game with the “modern audience” in mind! If this version portrays Bond as some modern feminist type it will sell about as well as mixtape.

@Skinny-Pete the latest bond films just tried to copy the style of the Borne movies but didn’t manage to make the films anywhere near the level of the Borne trilogy.

@PuppetMaster I think the game reviewers should take some responsibility here! Not one of them reported on the crashing situation. They gaslit everyone into believing the ps5 version was the definitive edition. You can’t tell me none of them had any issues whatsoever?! Another reason the majority of people are now using YouTube reviews rather than access media

I’ll wait for user reviews so I can see how many bugs there are before considering a purchase.

You can pick up demon souls ps5 from cex for £20 these “sales” are usually dreadful compared to second hand physical copies

@Korgon oh yeah the hype is real for this one. Hardly surprising considering how big gta 5 was and how long it’s been since it released. Some kids have gone through their entire school lives without seeing a new gta! Crazy stuff when you really think about it

Or maybe live service is slowly dying across all genres. Numbers are down for every game from previous years/releases. I guess the novelty of playing the same game for years on end and having to pay extra for things that used to be included with a game purchase has finally peaked.

I think software sales are down across the board over the past 12 months. Hardly surprising when a carrier bag of groceries cost £60 and the fuel to drive there costs £80 a tank!

Even the greatest game of the year mixtape only has 1000 players on steam.

£70 is too much for this type of game. It will sell more when on sale

The suits really did ruin gaming! They made bloated over staffed development cycles usually with terrible writing and now they say “we can’t make these games anymore” all the while churning out live service slop that are mostly failing.

Let’s be real though because of the meme stock frenzy gme stock has twice been massively overpriced and the owners of most of that stock took advantage and made a fortune. Not sure how many hours I wasted just driving around trying to get highest wanted level and trying to discover spots on the map where the police couldn’t get to you. I usually used the tank cheat code and drive around blasting 😃
