It really doesn’t matter imo. Graphics are fractionally better on the ps5 than they were on the ps4. PS4 power in a hand held is definitely good enough.

I’d say Sony lost their identity more than Nintendo. Actually Sony flushed their identity down the toilet for live service slop.

Also in previous gen’s Nintendo had to be innovative because they could not compete in the high spec arms race. Now they don’t need to due to advancements between generations being very minimal.

Next to no one is playing Diablo anymore. It completely died when poe 2 released.

Extraction shooters just always seem slow and boring to me. I’ve watched a fair bit of people playing them on twitch and I just can’t see the mainstream appeal for them.
Also seems a little behind the trend as the hype for these games seems to have gone

@LifeGirl very true! Great example is assassins creed shadows. It’s not really an rog because the “choices” you make don’t affect the actual game. The illusion of choice in rpgs has been a problem for a long time and I include games like fallout 4 in that list.

I loaded up prince of Persia on ps5 last night and was forced to sign up to Ubisoft before I could play the game. I don’t remember the same backlash about Ubisoft as I did against Sony.

I hope it’s a complete from the ground up rebuild. Think resi style remakes! So many remakes and remasters are basically just lazy port upgrades sold as remakes.

Just paid £16 for prince of Persia ps5 version on amazon. Bargain

@DonkeyFantasy this is very common for new systems. Sony did exactly the same thing for ps5. Many many people had to buy bundles they didn’t want to get the system early.

Releasing a £400 system in 2025 isn’t expensive! Games are obviously expensive but the system isn’t.

Part 2 getting close numbers to part 1 on steam is a decent result. Especially when you take into account that part 2 sold dreadfully compared to part 1 on PlayStation.

Another example of critical scores being way way off. The general public seem to really enjoy the film. The film looks fun and I’m not the target audience. I would imagine kids would love the system of the movie.

275k playing on steam right now (4th) Looks like it’s still going very well. For comparison shadows is sitting at 21k (74th) and that game is much much newer.

This 19 year old remake will still be better than most the the games released today (of similar genre)

I think Sony should start making games again

Maybe the more expensive games are a Trojan horse to get people signed up to monthly subscription services (which will inevitably higher the prices once they capture enough of the market)

Either way in todays financial climate most people will be holding back from luxury purchases so lose gaming companies will go bust.

Pc gaming is cheaper and a lot easier to get torrents for games. The rise of pc and decline of consoles will be massive over the next decade.

I have seen nothing of this game but the name alone gives me vibes of a total flop. Bungie were once decent though so this might be semi successful

We have definitely reached a point of diminishing returns. Most comparison videos i hardly see a difference. I have absolutely loved the faster load times (almost non existent) of the ps5. The graphics really don’t register with me anymore. Games looked good enough during ps4 generation.

Stop spending absurd amounts of money on things no one cares about. Extra particle effects, more textures on fabrics, each individual piece of grass has its own animations. All this stuff is the reason games take 7 years plus to make and they make no difference to the thing that matters, Gameplay!!!

I would say I’ll wait for a few months and pick up the game second hand. That option is getting less and less viable. In future my gaming will become 12-24 months behind release and waiting for a sale

This comparison (without looking at it) is a little silly. We all know the switch 2 is going to be much much weaker tech wise. These two consoles don’t really compete for the same market.

One thing that people don’t seem to be mentioning is the fact that Nintendo will sell digital copies of games much cheaper than hard copies. That’s a win for the industry in general! We’ve been absolutely ripped off for years paying the same or more for digital.

Fromsoft exclusive will shift numbers. Especially considering it looks like bloodborne 2 (which Sony seem to have completely given up on)

This game was fun back then. Not sure it will hold up well today though.

10 million units sold in a month is incredible.

I hope gaming doesn’t become as fragmented as television. I really don’t want 10 subscriptions to play my games. It’s the main reason I’m leaning towards going pc. Steam seems to have enough games now that I won’t miss a few PlayStation exclusives.

I get that people are worried about losing their jobs due to AI (many many people are currently dealing with the same worries) but they are fighting the inevitable. Voice acting in video games will not be a thing done by humans in any new production. Going on strike for protections will only really work for the biggest name characters in the biggest franchises.

Good games design does not waste your time making you farm for no reason. But let’s be real this time sink is designed into a lot of games in the hope that you will use the content store to bypass the ground with real money.

Another reason I trust YouTube reviews more than the media. The good ones don’t give a review until they finish the game even if that means the review comes late. A late review is certainly better than a preview

Tencent must be angered by this move! They own 49% of Ubisoft just for them to split the major IP’s and effectively write off Ubisoft as an entity. If the current ubisoft keep creative control they will also drive this new subsidiary into the ground.

It’s very suspicious that Ubisoft are apparently sharing info (with insiders) not through official channels about how much revenue they are making. All the while the share price keeps falling! Large investors know the real story because they will have access to much more info.

Seems the positive reviews didn’t really matter in Japan. 😬

The 90’s vibe of the trailer was perfect imo. I don’t understand how the trailer was disliked so so much. Hope we get to see some gameplay this year.

People freaking out because bald female protagonist are morons. I just hope the game is more gameplay focused than story heavy. I don’t want a religious lecture tbh! For me religion is the least appealing story narrative in any type of media.

I hope the last of us continues once Druckmann has moved on. Him having sole control over part 2 ruined the franchise imo. He somehow turned one of my favourite characters in gaming into someone I absolutely detested in part 2.

I’m surprised the article didn’t mention the debate that was had in parliament about the game. Their main concern was being able to attack and damage temples (this was patched out quickly)

Overall the the tone of the reviews is very similar to the online reviews I’ve watched. People feel Yasuke is a bad character not because he’s black but because he’s op and breaks the format of the game.
