You can now be even more confident Until Dawn 2 will be a fantastic story experience, as it's been announced Dispatch developer AdHoc Studio helped write the PS5 sequel's story.
Having revealed the 28th January 2027 release date, a PlayStation Blog post spoke of the collaboration:
We’ve partnered with our friends at AdHoc Studio – the brilliant minds behind the acclaimed Dispatch – so you can expect a deeply layered story packed with rich characters, razor-sharp dialogue, fraught relationships, tough decisions, and yes… more than a few gruesome deaths. Every choice, every interaction can ripple with dramatic consequences.

AdHoc Studio has just come off the back of releasing the episodic Dispatch, which was critically acclaimed and highly praised for its excellent branching story. It just so happens that the first Until Dawn game on PS4 was also famed for its excellent branching story, so this matchup makes a lot of sense.
Here's the official plot setup it and lead developer Firesprite Games have come up with:
Ready to die for likes? Join a team of ambitious ghost hunters as they chase their next viral hit on a remote island haunted by a woman’s chilling story of demons and ghostly phenomena. When the tale begins to manifest in terrifying ways, the group will have to fight their own fears – and anything else that gets in their way – to get off the island alive. Their lives are in your hands. Make every choice count.
