“Moving away from hardware centric business” very interesting that you sell you hardware for such an inflated price then. What this means going forward is ps6 will be the last console as everything will be fully online after that. Probably also means 90% of games will be live service trash with micro transactions to make up for the loss in hardware revenue.
In other words ps6 is where I jump off. Think I will spend the rest of my days on PC playing the 30 year back catalogue of games I always meant to play someday.
Verifying age on a game that you have to be 18 to buy. The same parents that buy their underage kids these games will also just do the verification for them.
@KundaliniRising333 the first game was superior in every way. Combat in the second game was definitely a step backwards imo. The dungeons in the first game were amazing, second game instantly forgettable
Battle royal is the best form of online shooters imo. I’m not a fps guy myself but watching warzone or pubg on twitch are the most entertaining fps games to watch. I really don’t enjoy the kill/death ratios of the other style games. I like the finality of being out of the game when you die rather then unless respawns with a timer.
I haven’t paid £70 for a game yet. I have no intention of buying games until they are on sale anymore. If any game has a physical copy I like to buy second hand.
I enjoyed my time with the game. I think I put about 60 hours into it. Only critique I have is the enemy type got repetitive and so did the game loop. Story got better as it went on imo.
Live service is full of low effort cash grabs. That’s the whole point of the live service push from publishers. They can extract money from people easily that have addictive tendencies.
In shocking news!! Publishers that don’t want customer protection laws in place come out with nonsense statements to derail the stop killing games initiative.
Live service trash being cancelled all over the place. Executives finally realising that the public don’t need 100 different variations of the same game. People playing a popular live service game are entrenched and won’t easily move.
Sony going multi platform is short sighted and suicidal for PlayStation! They have damaged the brand quite a lot this generation with the disastrous push for live service gaming instead on single player gaming. If people can play Sony games on other platforms console says will eventually dive. Microsoft would likely be able to make a console and sell it at a loss to capture market share and dominate the market.
Whoever makes the decisions at Sony needs replacing asap imo. Long term strategy is needed asap.
Ps6 will be the first PlayStation I don’t buy day one. I will wait a few years to see what they release first. I could have lived without the ps5 up to this point tbh.
Buy studios and publishers to create market dominance and then close them all down because your management is dysfunctional and incompetent. Next stage will be trying to buy more (currently) successful studios so as to repeat the cycle.
It’s quite clear at this point that trying to fit gaming into the streaming model won’t work. Twitch is having massive problems attracting advertisers and gamepass will never break even.
I fully support this type of action. Digital gaming prices are disgraceful! I have purchased many second hand games for a 5th of the cost of the digital versions. If things don’t change I’ll stop gaming the second we go full digital.
Easy way to fix the problem is by letting people sell digital compiles of games, we all know they will never allow that though.
Still hate it! The actual combat is much improved from the first game but the absolute misery and despair in the game made it too depressing for me. Making Ellie such an unlikable character was difficult to take. Having to play as Abby was horrible and the fact that “the revenge plot” had you kill everyone except for the person that deserved it was moronic.
You can’t really fix the game! Extraction shooters just aren’t ever going to be games for the masses. You can find an audience if the game is hardcore enough but that won’t pay the bills. You can try and make it accessible for the masses and it will feel boring and shallow.
@ChrisDeku 10k players on steam and 25k owners on psn profiles paints a drastically different picture. Every statement they’ve released about the sales of this game comes with lots of qualifying criteria.
If they make a new last of us game or show it needs to be with an entirely different cast. They game and show are ruined because the story was so badly done.
The show runners had been given terrible base material to work with. They’ve tried to make Ellie more likeable than the game version but that won’t save it. Unfortunately only so much you can do with the hatchet job narrative the druckman gave them.
@dskatter the reporting on this site changes depending on the narrative they want to push.
Truth is gamepass and other subscription models are killing game sales and revenue generated. AA games are starting to sell better than most new AAA games. This will eventually lead to huge closures.
@Neither_scene gamepass revenue isn’t really revenue generated by doom though! 95% of the 2m players on gamepass would have already had the service.
Creating a game for $100m plus and then having people sub to gamepass for one month won’t pay the bills. Especially considering most of these games will receive money from gamepass dependent on engagement length. So for example doom or shadows has an impressive 2 million players but if they only played for a couple of hours the developers probably receive next to nothing.
Production companies and developers actually want to make games for the whales. Build games with addictive gameplay mechanics and loops to keep certain types of personalities engaged long enough to drain their wallets. Why sell games to 1 million people that pay £60 when you can have a dedicated core community (although a lot smaller) that will fund you for a decade. Gaming is a race to the bottom for parasitic developers.
The quicker the big players go bankrupt and the more studios that close the better. AA gaming is the future for proper gamers.
