@DartLOD I actually agree that £1000 isn’t the end of the world. But I’m middle aged with the higher income that usually comes with. The real hardcore gamers (people that visit sites like this) might accept these prices. Parents and younger people that struggle to pay for a car and rent won’t.

This site alone ran a survey and half the people said they wouldn’t pay it. Some of those will obviously fold when the time comes but the general public and casual gamers won’t pay it.

@DartLOD graphics cards sales don’t tell the whole story. PC’s need graphics cards for many many reasons beyond gaming and many of them are essential for business.

@ShadowRJ the cumulative effect of no discs, hardly any single player games, $1000+ console and Sonys relentless drive into live service (which can be played anywhere) will have a massive impact on sales. Just because we haven’t seen an instant impact people are fooled into believing this is a storm in a tea cup.

It will be more than $1000 unless Sony are willing to sell it at a loss. My work just got an order from terafab and they are pushing through the order so quickly they are paying staff a 125% shift allowance (to work weekends only) the order could keep us at full capacity for 5 years.

Edit: also look at the actual wafer manufacturers and the bonuses they are paying staff (£500,000) per person every year for 10 years. @RoomWithaMoose let’s be honest it’s probably too late to really fix the game. Unless they spend another couple years fleshing it out. What’s actually happened is they’ve decided no one will play the game so why bother trying to keep it alive. I guess they’ll ship it relatively quickly and just forget about it.

They should just do the same as naughty dog with tlou online and scrap the thing. We all know this will be a disaster and a laughing stock for the internet.

My guess is that it was meant to be ready at the same time as the removal of physical media. Hopefully it doesn’t release until at least 2030. But anyone thinking ram prices will go down massively anytime soon are in for a shock. I’ve seen the order books and projections for the next 5 years and I can say definitively that we will never ever see ram prices go lower than they are now.

I mean games that have you just spam the same attack button over and over are tedious. I’m not saying this game is that (I would have no idea) but if that is the way the game plays it’s a genuine problem. Will still get 10/10 from the media regardless

Dlc not being on the disc isn’t a problem. As long as you can buy the disc second hand and still download the dlc.

@Flaming_Kaiser because these games are entirely designed around the balance of the combat. Make it to easy and you can tank all enemies completely removes the feeling of accomplishment.

Also these games are actually designed to make it as easy as you like. All you need to do is learn the weapon scaling and level up.

The reason we don’t have in depth rpgs with deep mechanics anymore is because developers pander to the crowd that want to play story mode. When games do release with these deep mechanics they sell incredibly well.

So they are back down to about 200 developers. Same size as they were in 2021 before all studios went mad and doubled in size for no reason.

@Bingoboyop this is true to an extent! If you make games that as huge like gta you can get away with it. Sony in its current incarnation are struggling to consistently make bangers. If that continues they won’t get away with their anti consumer nonsense.

Developers will 100% be using ai for backend and coding work and rightly so. You’d be a negligent business owner to ignore it.

On a side note it’s very interesting to see people’s anti ai messaging softening now to just include gen ai for art assets.

I picked up kcd2 for a decent price. Early days but so far it’s the best rpg I’ve played for over 10 years. Really put the big devs to shame how deep the systems are.

That seems to be the general consensus after the initial hype died down. Tbf I thought the first game was great but incredibly tedious by the end of the game. I haven’t actually picked up the sequel yet because it’s not something I would pay anywhere near £70 for.

I was hoping that dreams would have the same sort of impact and community energy that super Mario maker had. I purchased dreams day on because I wanted to support the developers but unfortunately for me I’m not particularly creative so i just played other peoples creations. I did love my time with it though

@zockermiller pc gaming is actually the majority of the market now. Unfortunately for this game not being comparable with Linux and currently not working with obs is a huge problem. So much so the game has a rating of 40% on steam.

That’s hardly surprising considering Xbox is a dead platform and switch 2 is new.

Review codes only being sent out after release screams of a middling review. I thought this game was being overhyped here (most likely paid advertising from Sony) either way it’s looking like this one won’t be the magic money printer Sony are desperate for.

Just imagine in 2028 when you are forced into the PlayStation store to buy your overpriced game you will likely have to endure a minute or two of ads before the store opens.

Sony really have forgot the reason they were so successful. This anti consumer drive will have a massive impact on them in the long run.

@Jacko11 It’s been said a million time (as I’m sure you already know) it’s not about using steam for disc. It’s about using steam because it’s a more user friendly platform than Sony. Refunds, better sales and cheaper overall gaming plus no charge for playing online. Keep kissing the Sony ring though.

@JLSlone no it’s because I live in the real world not the imaginary one that social media echo chambers portray. If you don’t produce value in the business world you’re finished. We are just seeing the consequences of that.

@get2sammyb game developers have much better working conditions now than they did 10-15 years ago. In that same time these same devs deliver broken, crap games that usually take 7 years plus to make. I have no sympathy

Preloading the company with a huge debt burden will be great for the players I’m sure.
