Re: Sony's Social Media Still Toxic Two Weeks After PS5 Discs Debacle

Boxmonkey

@themightyant I don’t think that many people actually care about the disc. It’s more about Sony having complete control over the market. If people think they’ll give decent sales once they have 100% control of pricing they are simpletons. Selling game codes in retail stores is a red herring because they know damn well people aren’t driving into town to get a code.

So many of you are missing the bigger point. This isn’t necessarily just about the loss of discs. It about the loss of options for cheaper games. If Sony made a statement saying they are allowing transfer or sales for second hand digital codes no one would have an issue. The anger is Sony are only doing this out of greed! They want to sell you old games for full price or when they do offer discounts they are nowhere near as low priced as second hand discs. I’m certain many of you are being wilfully ignorant though.

Re: 'PS5 Has Put a Dampener on Gaming': 45% of Enthusiasts 'Seriously Considering' Leaving Sony for PC

Boxmonkey

Let’s explain it in simple terms. People are angry because many people don’t pay full price for games, they wait and buy them second hand for a fraction of the original price and then sell them after they’ve finished them. That option is being removed along with the ability to sell your console with a huge collection of games to less fortunate people that can’t afford modern gaming.

The move to pc won’t be driven my the no disc drive, it will be driven by the fact that games are cheaper on pc and you don’t have to pay for ps plus.

Add the complete and utter disregard PlayStation has for its fans and the huge cost of consoles especially the next gen it will 100% create a mass exodus of customers. Some will go pc gaming route, some will stockpile older games (which were much better anyway) and some will give up the hobby entirely.

Anyone thinking this all blows over and PlayStation continues on without any brand damage is insane.

Why have empathy? This is how the system of capitalism works. I can honestly say I don’t care less about people losing jobs, especially when they take 10-15 years to make a game all because they like to spend years programming individual blades of grass and other crap that doesn’t actually make the game better. The whole market needs a recalibration and that’s exactly what’s happening now.
In 5-6 years time we’ll look back and say this culling was the best thing to happen

These studios were bloated and needed to be culled. Some of the best games over the last decade have come from far smaller teams than the ones Sony and Microsoft operate. Also let’s be honest most of these bloated studios have made average games at best! All you need is a small very talented m, dedicated team with a vision and you can make a great game. Having an extra 200 people working on things no one cares about like individual blades of grass or fabric looking photo realistic is absolutely pointless. Hopefully all the people that push identity politics have also left the building.

Re: Poll: Are You Considering Leaving PlayStation for PC?

Boxmonkey

@get2sammyb maybe you should view it as the straw that broke the camels back! Ps5 generation has been a disaster, ps6 will be priced way too high for casual gamers, Sony exclusives are all very similar to ps4 games with very little risk being taken, ps plus is about to have a price increase, games will never get good discounts via the online store.

Short term outlay will be higher for a pc rig but over a 5-7 year period you’ll save a fortune by ditching ps plus and buying much cheaper games on steam.

The difference between console and pc used to be a huge difference. All things considered it’s now much much closer and quite possibly cheaper to go pc.

I kinda feel that the younger PlayStation fans are the ones who don’t really care or think this is a non issue. Understandable considering they’ve grown used to this crap. But for the older fans we’ve seen this hobby slowly get hollowed out and riddled with greed. Sony in the ps4 era was as good as gaming gets! They have now joined the other vultures in the industry like Microsoft. I won’t be sticking around to be ripped off and I’m certain I won’t be alone.
