It’s kinda shocking that we haven’t had this a long longtime ago! Let’s be honest those two fallout games are the only really good 3d games from the series’s and most people have never played them.
Bring it on! So much coding and bug solving can happen in QuickTime. In a few years when games release in 2-3 year cycles people will stop moaning. But what about the writers and artists? Unfortunately for them the jobs they had are now redundant.
@themightyant destiny (1&2) overwatch, pubg and Fortnite all released before anthem! Only apex released afterwards. The qualifying statement of conceived means nothing tbh.
You can always argue that developers should try new things (that’s how innovation happens) the problem for me is how how many developers are pushed by publishers into making games then have no experience in building to chase the latest fad. Games made with no passion from the actual creatives is always doomed to fail! Live service is probably the easiest way from a studio to go bust!!
Will publishers learn that lesson? I very much doubt it because they see the success of games like arc raiders and feel like the need that constant flow of revenue.
The market isn’t big enough for more than handful of super successful live service games imo. They certainly won’t come from teams that are being forced to make this type of content. The successful ones come from the most unexpected sources and this must drive the suits absolutely insane.
Bethesda wasted years making that trash starfield. But let’s be honest about the studio and expectations for es6, I expect a game that is broken and nowhere near as good as Skyrim or oblivion! Same as all big studios the list most of the talent years ago and now coast on their name alone.
@Areus review magazines existed in the very early 90’s. Generally people like to know they are spending their hard earned money on something that’s good! The internet hasn’t changed that.
This game will struggle. Will probably start off with decent numbers but unfortunately for them arc raiders has filled the void in the market for this game.
Look let’s be realistic here, these new controls are being implemented under the guise of protecting children (95% of the population support this) but these rules and restrictions are really about controlling the message of all online platforms. Msm like bbc and cnn don’t control the narrative anymore and that terrifies the elites.
@LifeGirl 2005-2010 were certainly the golden age of the internet imo. It was nerve going to last though. All information channels always get controlled by governments eventually.
@Bigumamiflavor yeah I agree! The internet needs to be made a lot safer for kids. The power Ofcom now have is op. All online platforms will comply no matter how much trump and Elon shake their fists.
My guess is this is all related to the online safety act. Probably means the end of things like proximity chat in the future and maybe requirements for providing ID when playing games of a certain age rating.
If gta6 is optimised for the pro I will 100% buy one. I’m sure many people have the same idea. Problem is the price of the pro is likely to go up this year.
Aaa devs are very worried about this trend to indie and aa games. Also most aaa devs don’t make anything anywhere near the level of gta! In fact no one in the entire industry makes a game close to rock* level. I would consider them the only aaaa dev
£$40 is a very good price point for these types of games imo. It’s means the experience isn’t completely ruined by pay to win mechanics or having ugly shop menus all over the place. I honestly think the £70-80 model for games will tank sales for many many games. I certainly know that before I pay out that sort of money I do much more research about the quality of the game.
I only buy games day one for premium prices for the very top tier games (scores of 9-10 across the board) where as I’m much more comfortable and liberal with my cash for games in the £30-£50 range. You only need look at last years top selling games on steam to see that the majority are doing the same.
Mine is continuing on the same path I took last year. Never buy AAA games until I see user reviews, priorities buying aa and indie games. Make sure 90% of my spend goes to developers that actually build games for players rather than for shareholders
@RoomWithaMoose welcome to gaming in 2025! The press pump the most mundane games as goty territory and try to ignore as and indie ( that’s getting a lot harder now though)
The ram shortages will last for years. The world has over 1200 data centres being built for ai. One of those data centres is the size of manhattan.
Intel, micron and tsmc are all building multiple fabs to help build more semiconductors but these won’t be in full production for years. The global capacity for manufacturing is currently reached so I don’t see things changing for at least 4-5 years.
Someone tell HH this before he nukes PlayStation into live service slop irrelevance! Let’s be real everyone is ecstatic with ghosts of Yotei because they have been starved of single player exclusives. Ghosts wasn’t even a top 5 exclusive of the ps4 era but now it’s the peak of ps5. Depressing
Kingdom come is the type of game big studios detest! The game has so much depth that the aaa devs don’t want to include into games. They would rather spend the budget on new grass tech or how the clothing is so detailed.
The things that actually matter are neglected by the failing big devs and publishers
Game awards are a joke anyway! It’s clear some of the gaming media are stirring this ai drama because they know it will eventually come for their jobs.
The most boring topic in gaming is going to rear its head over and over. Let’s just assume that every developer is using ai in some fashion and move on. They won’t stop because 2% of the vocal players moan about it.
I can’t wait for more ai to be used in game development. In a few years studios will be able to churn out content so much quicker for less cost and without the crunch that people also like to complain about.
This game won’t release until ps6 is out. What a complete waste this generation has been for Sony first party studios. This live service push really messed up the whole gen
@Neonix so your argument is what exactly? You think a few people moaning on the internet will change the trajectory of ai? We are at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution mk2. 50% of the world will lose their jobs. Do you see your local politician trying to stop it?? Complaining on internet forums or Twitter is a complete waste of time and energy
Not one dev in the world will care about the few people raging on the internet threatening never to buy their games again. It’s so futile and bordering on the ridiculous to think your moral outrage will make any difference.
Game development is too long and too expensive. Ai will help reduce both of those things.
Setting the same price point as arc raiders is sensible (it would have gone down terribly priced higher) I still can’t see how they would have changed the game enough to persuade the masses for it to be a huge success though.
Activision will be under immense pressure to keep churning out a game every 12 months. Let’s be honest cod has lived off past glories for many years now. The gaming landscape is changing and people don’t have the money or want to buy the same thing every year. Hence the massive shift to AA and indie gaming.

@themightyant without a doubt the had some bad timing with the release. A bad game is a bad game though no matter when it comes out.

I might give marathons a go when it inevitably goes free to play in a few months or the reviews come back 9/10. First option is much more likely
