Re: Sony Poised to Publish PS5 Hit Death Stranding 2 on PC

Bingoboyop

@get2sammyb that is true and ultimately Sony is just another company, it doesn't matter to me where I play something, still I can't help but wonder what the selling point of a PS6 is gonna be. Who knows how much it's even gonna cost. The only thing I can think of is the library on the platform carrying over. Even then what reason would a PS5 owner have to switch to PS6 considering the long cross gen period.

Re: Now Devs Are Politely Asking Their PS4 Players to Upgrade to PS5

Bingoboyop

I can't lie, I still don't see the point of upgrading to a PS5. I still have far too big of a library backlog to care about new releases anyway and there isn't a single game that is only available on PS5 that I would call a must play for me to just run out and get it. Add the fact that apparently PS6 is launching in 2027, might as well wait till then.

Re: Rumour: PS6 Will Have a Detachable Disc Drive, Much Simpler Design

Bingoboyop

Yeah I am not expecting it to be low tbh. Welp I hope all this tariff nonsense is a thing of the past by the time ps6 launches. We are treading weird uncharted territories anyway in a lot of ways. Like what even is gonna be value prospect for that console for people with a ps5. There are no exclusives anymore so no point there and since the cross gen period is like 5 years now, it's hard to get excited there as well.

Bingoboyop

@Dalamar totally understandable and I agree it's a great deal. The problem is we never think long term and why should we. This same thing happens with everything in tech it seems like, the esshittification. They give a great deal and when they have a ton of people on board they start shoveling the *****. I hope it never happns to gaming though it already is in various ways.

Re: PS5's High Price Becoming a Serious Headache for Publishers

Bingoboyop

I agree with the price being too high, especially at this point in the generation but in this scenario I put this on the game itself. Honestly it's kinda ridiculous to say that that's causing slow sales of a particular game when plenty of other games sell well. Also its kinda stupid to single out sony when the prices of everything gaming related has gone up. Nintendo, sony, microsoft and every publisher is to blame. Why didn't capcom launch the game at 60 if he is so worried about the total price of admission being high. Gaming right now sucks price wise, across the board.

Re: 'There's No Real Need for a PS6': Industry Veteran Weighs in on Next-Gen Debate

Bingoboyop

Hard agree. The prices are so ridiculous 5 years into the cycle that it feels pointless to even think about the next gen. I just don't see these prices going down for atleast a few more years and launching a ps6 with a decent price is impossible to me. Plus with the longer and longer cross gen period there would be no point in buying a hypothetical ps6 at launch anyway. We are in uncharted territory here. Sony gotta be smart how they approach the next gen.

Re: A Quote from a Sony Exec Is Causing a Hubbub Among PS5 Fans Again

Bingoboyop

I don't care what sony does in relation to xbox but I genuinely don't see the point of a closed ps6 anymore.

On one hand sony is putting everything everywhere, on the other hand they seem to want to extend the cross generation period, add to the fact that they are struggling to put out of the games that made them special to begin with.

Say the ps6 launches in 2027. In the current climate what incentive do people have to buy it? PS5 owners know that there will be a long cross gen period. Pc players know that all the games are gonna release there anyway. Who even cares about xbox anymore since they will be going the pc route anyway. Again what's the incentive?

Re: PlayStation the Driving Force Behind Xbox's Helldivers 2 Port

Bingoboyop

At this point sony seems to stumbling in the dark. They are just throwing stuff at the wall. Maybe it's due to failure of Concord and probably the coming failures of others. They are struggling to release new first party games like the ones that made them popular all the while giving less and less reasons to buy the next console. What is the plan? Would be quite funny for all you people saying how the live service push won't affect anything if it ends up being the reason for PlayStation's death.

Re: Sony Job Listing Implies More PS5 Exclusives Will Be Ported to Xbox, Nintendo

Bingoboyop

@LazyDaisy yeah but then I can make the argument against limiting the potential sales in that first release by releasing for a wider audience. That was my point. Why bother with consoles? Why even stay in this closed ecosystem? Just make a pc with a very well optimized front end to increase convenience and a good translation layer to effectively play all the games in the world.

Re: Sony Job Listing Implies More PS5 Exclusives Will Be Ported to Xbox, Nintendo

Bingoboyop

Why even bother with consoles at that point? The only thing could be convenience but I can easily see a steam os box becoming that convenient option. In the future obviously not now. Why bother with a somewhat closed system? If sony really wants to release a new console one day then just release a pc box as well while on the software side they should just become a publisher.

Re: The Next Xbox Is a PC, So What Does That Mean for PS6?

Bingoboyop

@themightyant this is the thing though. I just don't see how they can reduce the price of PS5 pro that much. They just aren't willing to make any losses in the pro. Either they are selling pro for a small profit, in which case they can't possibly reduce the price that much in 2 years with the way the market is or they are making a huge profit on them, in which case that's just sad more than anything. Maybe they will discontinue the PS5 pro a few months before launch so there is no comparison left.
