Re: Fastidiously Multiformat Square Enix Skips PS5 with Yet Another Game

Bingoboyop

I don't understand, how exactly is not releasing a game on PS5 going to help SE in a dispute or whatever. That's just hitting yourself with an axe because you are angry at someone else. Not being exclusive to PS, that I can understand but this is just wierd. Something like this doesn't just happens because there is tension or whatever, it happens because there is a deal. Also I suspect it's got more to do with Nintendo than Xbox.

Re: As PS6 Delay Rumours Swirl, Fans Debate Ray Tracing's Worth

Bingoboyop

I do think it can improve the overall presentation but we are definitely at a point where games can look great without it no problem.

I also wonder if we are also kinda stuck in that weird limbo zone where games have to be developed to accommodate both with or without RT options and that's also kinda holding things back.

In fact I feel this way for a lot of tech introduced with the PS5, like RT, ssd and stuff will truly flourish with the PS6. Since the cross gen period for PS5 and PS6 won't have to worry about the hdd and there is going to be more easy scalability between gens even during the cross gen period.

Re: 'They're Not Going to Delay PS6': Hardware Leaker Says 2027 Still Likely After Xbox Helix Reveal

Bingoboyop

Well only time will tell. Sony needs to keep the price a lot tighter than whatever Microsoft calls there box so they are a lot more sensitive to these market conditions. Though it is important to keep in mind that Sony has been willing to take quite a hit in the past to keep prices lower.

One thing I will say is that any delay will depend on how Sony and its partners see this whole AI bubble going. If Sony sees that these conditions might stay for longer than 2 or 3 years then there is no point in delaying a PS6 but if maybe they see prices going down by say 2028 or even 29 then it would make more sense to delay. I would imagine that's what's happening right now in the discussions between Sony and their supply partners.

Re: PS6 Competitor from Xbox Revealed as Project Helix

Bingoboyop

@get2sammyb I mean ofcourse people are interested in it. If it plays pc games in a console form factor and relatively seamlessly, I think that's bound to interest a lot of people. That's why there is so much buzz for the steam machine. Whether that interest translates to sales is another thing though. It will heavily depend on the price and I don't think it will cheap, heck she even mentions "lead in performance" that feels like a way to justify the much higher price tag more than anything.

Re: PS6 Competitor from Xbox Revealed as Project Helix

Bingoboyop

It being a PC does interests me. Would depend on the price though. This can't possibly be subsidised due to the market places but they can't make it too cheap for another reason as well, that is that if it's basically a PC then it forces other OEMs like Lenovo, Dell, Asus, etc to compete with them. It would take a a bite out of their market. I wonder how that will go.

Re: Roblox Is Being Played More Than PlayStation and Steam Combined

Bingoboyop

@get2sammyb I think part of it is what's everyone else is doing. Gaming and media is general always has a social aspect to it. People like to talk about the media they consume. If every kid around you is playing a certain game, I think it's inevitable that you will want to play that too.

Add the fact that the requirements to play Roblox are really low plus kids don't need to much to entertain themselves too. It's not surprising. What interests me more is if these kids choose to continue playing this stuff when they grow up because people's taste change as they grow.

Re: PS5 Is Becoming a Really Great Place to Play Retro Games

Bingoboyop

@belmont why? Is it a hardware reason or a software one? I don't see why the blueray drive in those won't be able to play CDs if it's just a standard blueray reader. Regardless they can just release a usb attachment to use an external CD reader, the bandwidth required for those isn't high at all. They could even do the same for UMDs and even the Vita game cards if they wanted to. "If they wanted to" is the thing though.

Re: Opinion: The Euphoric Reaction to PS6's Rumoured Delay Really Confuses Me

Bingoboyop

You just answered your own question in the article. The changes between gen are evolutionary, You said that we are hitting diminishing returns but you only looked at it from a graphic perspective, when in reality we are hitting diminishing returns from every perspective.

Look at resolution, a PS6 isn't gonna target 8k because frankly 4k is extremely clear. A PS6 can target 120 fps but the jump that people felt moving from 30 to 60 isn't gonna be there either. PS5 gen addressed all of the major pitfalls of console gaming. If say PS5 gen wasn't capable of ray tracing at all I would understand the argument but even that isn't really a big deal. Add the long cross gen period on top and its obvious why people feel that the PS5 hardware hasn't been completely utilised.

Imo its not the long dev cycles but rather the long cross gen period and if this is going to be the standard moving forward then maybe it is better that the console gens are longer.

Re: PS5 Is Becoming a Really Great Place to Play Retro Games

Bingoboyop

@SuntannedDuck2 this is the reason the ability to just discs or use the previously bought versions of games from the old console stores is important. I get wanting to make money from retro games, so I sometimes wonder, why can't Sony just add the ability to use ps1 or ps2 discs for example to psplus premium or something like that. Would make that service a lot better.

Everytime the topic of backwards compatibility comes it always revolves around ps store and which games they can put there but never the physical versions, it's like people have just straight up given up on that plus even then way too many people are just happy with remakes only. I don't mind remakes whatsoever but what about the original versions? What if I want to play the games how they were released? How can any of this be called game preservation? What a shame.

Re: Konami Cruelly Delists Several Metal Gear Solid Games on PS3, PSP without Notice

Bingoboyop

Man, so many comments are just so stupid. So the logic for these people is that just because a remaster is coming out on a different console the original version, not available on said PS5 should be delisted. Why?

This is why game preservation from a legal sense will die. It's due to these sentiments. Atleast right now people can fall back on discs. What precedence is this setting?

Re: Sony Considering PS6 Delay to 2028 or Even 2029, New Report Says

Bingoboyop

@get2sammyb one thing to note is that the problem might not even be the price of RAM, it might be availablity itself. So much of the Dram supply is being taken by the ai stuff that there is shortage is other areas, as in others can't find it anymore. I think Sony wants to avoid shortages like those when PS5 launched. There is a lot of fab building going on that should come online around 2027 and 2028, maybe Sony are waiting to see the results of that.

Re: Sony Considering PS6 Delay to 2028 or Even 2029, New Reports Says

Bingoboyop

One thing to note is that Lisa Su didn't say that the nexbox will launch in 2027 but rather that IF it launches in 27 then they are in a position to support it no problem. Though the fact that she mentioned both Msft and Valve but didn't mention Sony does seems to point to Sony delaying PS6 and Msft launching before Sony.

Which would make sense considering the PS6 is gonna be traditional console to it's far more price sensitive compared to the nexbox. Like we know Sony is willing to take a fairly big hit per console to keep sales high but I doubt they want a repeat of the early PS3 days where they were losing like 200 dollars per console.

Re: No More Yakuza Kiwami Games After Kiwami 3 Story Changes, New Series Could Happen

Bingoboyop

It's understandable to not do anymore Kiwami games since at some point you are bound to reach the games that don't need said remakes but if their plan is to splinter the series then the choice to delist the 3 remastered is even more baffling.

Like why would you delist the game that connects to the already existing games because splintering it would mean both 3 and Kiwami 3 existing side by side. Baffling choice.

Re: The Internet Has Not Been Kind to Horizon Hunters Gathering

Bingoboyop

I don't think the game looks bad, though I can't care less about it, never been into any multiplayer or coop style games.

I think it's the overall optics that look bad, think about it, was it really a good idea that ND, Bend, Bluepoint, Guerrilla and heck even Insomniac from what I remember, all work on some these primarily live service Multiplayer games.

Insomniac managed to release a lot of games this gen so I don't mind them but for others they don't seem to be capable of working on more than one project, which I fine, but when your whole reputation is built on one thing and that thing is being pushed back for something else that doesn't even comes out or doesn't interest that group, ofcourse there is going to be a backlash.

Like from a single player perspective it's not even been a bad gen for Sony first party but that image sticks and it's gonna take a while before this image is gone. Thankfully we are gonna see some of these games come out this year plus next year.

Re: PS5's First State of Play of 2026 Tipped for Later This Week

Bingoboyop

@Rich33 this exactly. I don't even believe that Sony's output single player games wise has been bad or anything infact it's been pretty good, we have gotten RC rift apart, Returnal, SM2, Ragnarok, Demon soul remake, FW and even something like GT7.

I also don't like the constant bashing for the Multiplayer games they do reveal, almost wishing for them to fail but I think a lot of people are also over correcting against that sentiment, it's like a middle opinion cannot possibly exist. Either Sony is killing SP games and all the live service games need to fail or this live service push hasn't changed the company for worse at all.

Re: PS5's First State of Play of 2026 Tipped for Later This Week

Bingoboyop

@get2sammyb yes because games back then didn't tend to take 5 or 6 years to come out. Plus in cases like uncharted or tlou, they had modes.

You can't genuinely believe that having ND, Bend, Bluepoint, Guerrilla all develop live service games at the same time wasn't a bad idea and it's not affecting their other projects. Not to mention all the money they lost by cancelling all those projects. What do you think a company does to offset losses like this. Be real for a second.

I don't even mind this Horizon gathering game but I can still accept that their live service push, especially this hard has been a mistake and is having an effect on other areas but if you want to keep your head buried in the sand, go ahead be my guest.

Re: Rumour: PS Portal OLED Version Coming This Year

Bingoboyop

Why do companies do this? Why not release the oled version from the beginning? Well maybe they simply wanted to keep it all cheap since they didn't expect it sell well. Plus a new version makes sense if they are planning to delay the PS6. I also think we will see a PS5 super slim or whatever if they do delay the PS6.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Believes Exclusives Make Consoles 'Sing'

Bingoboyop

This also applies for the backlog games and not just upcoming games. This timed release of games of PC does nothing but create an expectation. People don't just buy a console to play upcoming exclusives but also to play the already released exclusives. The discussions around this always skip this for some reason. The idea that older exclusives don't continue bringing value to the system is ridiculous.

Re: Sony Poised to Publish PS5 Hit Death Stranding 2 on PC

Bingoboyop

@get2sammyb that is true and ultimately Sony is just another company, it doesn't matter to me where I play something, still I can't help but wonder what the selling point of a PS6 is gonna be. Who knows how much it's even gonna cost. The only thing I can think of is the library on the platform carrying over. Even then what reason would a PS5 owner have to switch to PS6 considering the long cross gen period.

Re: Now Devs Are Politely Asking Their PS4 Players to Upgrade to PS5

Bingoboyop

I can't lie, I still don't see the point of upgrading to a PS5. I still have far too big of a library backlog to care about new releases anyway and there isn't a single game that is only available on PS5 that I would call a must play for me to just run out and get it. Add the fact that apparently PS6 is launching in 2027, might as well wait till then.
