The worst part of this upgrade is i bought a ps5 pro. I have days gone on disk. So even though, I purchased it and would love to have it. I'm not willing to purchase either full price.
And its Sony who decided that the pro wouldn't come with a disc drive. Shame on them really
RoboCop is one of those games where most people will just fob it off.
Yet the game is actually just incredibly fun to play, not to long not to short and just brilliant.
It maybe the first game in years where I finished it and just started a new game plus straight away. I actually don't mind it being on ps plus, the developers deserve the money. Looking forward to whats next for them with the rise in sales.
@MrRhysReviews No you don't technically need a nearly finished game.
The censorship board do not play the game nor even see the game really.
I believe the developer sends a detailed description of what's within the game and the board basically has a check list and then they give the rating.
That's a very basic description but that's how they rate games. Boards just expect the respect to give a true description of what's in the game and they'll go with it.
I believe it can result in fines if the description isn't true and they pass the game and the description wasn't accurate.
I don't even think it matters. 360 had success but ps3 still out sold it in the end anyway.
If ps5 pro is anything to go by in today's market, to have a next generation console is going to cost a hell of a lot. If a minimal upgrade like the pro was nearly double the price.
Xbox series X is a pretty beefy console and still hasn't moved the market.
The best thing Xbox could do is integrate steam and have PC games on top of console, to even compete
It's worth a download from ps plus but it ain't worth its price tag.
Honestly don't mind interactive movies but this game is basically what the order 1886 was a great concept with little to no gameplay and 0 replayability.
I actually can't believe it took as long as it did to come out.
Yes graphically a power house but so was the order.
You actually can't believe it's less interactive than the firdt game.
I noticed that like a dragon; The Man Who Erased His Name was on ps plus so downloaded it and I'm happy it's the normal yakuza game with proper combat. So I'm now digging away at that on ps5 pro.
Got invited by some devs to playtest a new hotel tycoon game, so many hours of playing and trying to destroy it for the next few days.
What alot of people today don't realise is Code Veronica was ment to be the 3rd entry in the series!!
But due to the success of Resident Evil 2. PlayStation was quite forceful on capcom to deliver another game in quick succession. With Code Veronica not ready and some cutting board stories which were short enough to get it done with resi 2 graphics.
They switched it up and made resi 3 Nemsis. Which as you know is kinda of thr shortest resi game they have made. That's due to it not being a full game.
But this sort of made Code Veronica fall by the way side as a spin off, when in fact that was the actual sequel to resi 2.
Claire Redfield was the more liked character in 2 so she was going first and then 4 was always going to be Leon.
There are just to many subscriptions. That's just tv and movie platforms.
Let alone adding in a gaming subscription.
It's actually now become more expensive than a cable bill if you want to watch everything.
At least when it was just cable. It was 1 price every month and you just needed to remember what day and what time your film or programme was on.
Now it's Google searches to figure out which sub, the movie or series is going to be on and then, it's either thank the lord you already sub to it or it's a decision whether you spend that extra money and pay for another sub. But at least with say Netflix and prime, your always getting the latest new releases and original content.
GamePass which is trying to be the Netflix of game subscriptions, don't really get brand new releases and it's normally either new indie games or from their first party. Then you have got the problem of a game can take 10 hours to 100+ hours to complete with a 100s of games to choose from, which then also get taken off the service so you could end up not finishing said game.
Biggest problem with this is. Gaming isn't everyone favourite passed time, so most will only have time for 1 or 2 hours to game a night if that.
But everyone from kids to the elderly, from men to women will all sit down together and watch a series or a movie, gaming really isn't a social event, apart from the dedicated games, they are very much a singular interactive experience.
For the majority it's more cost effective to just buy a game 1 time, a few times a year than pay a monthly fee that you probably may never play all the way through 99% of the games and then the game you actually want may not even be on the sub and would have to buy it anyway.
It's probably why ps extra may end up being more successful because it's sort of tied into the sub we all have to pay to go online anyway, rather than a stand alone purchase, like GamePass
Reading the comments and just sitting back and reviewing Rocksteadys downfall
And this awful attempt at a game. This game was worse than concord. Yes no one cared for concord but the actual game play was solid.
Everything about Suicide Squad screams cash grab live service with a dc comic skin over the top.
But truly this is probably the greatest and saddest game dev story I've ever witnessed.
Just think RockSteady were the legends the one studio who could do no wrong.
We got 3 amazing single batman games. Which seemed like they was made with love and complex detail to the lore.
We even got a spin off top rated vr experience from them which I enjoyed.
We also was given a side developer making spin off batman game, which maybe was rough around the sledges but the game and story was really good.
It was to the point that even with RockSteady being super quiet everyone and anyone would of said in RockSteady we trust.
We even talked about rumours and what we would love to see from them. Maybe moving on from batman. Teenage mutant ninja turtles was even rumoured.
Like we didn't care, whatever they was going to make we didn't even question it.
Ans then the reveals.
Both studios, both games, both live service.
Like both games were god awful.
I would just love to see what actually happened and insight on how a true legend of the comic book triple A gaming market powerhouse RockSteady ended up making a pretty bland third person shooter within a live service environment.
It just doesn't make sense.
Hopefully one day someone will talk and we will know what really happened.
@GamingFan4Lyf @twitchtvpat you cant actually use that debate really with the whole steam console thing.
That was a very strange time.
Valve didn't technically release a console they sort of handed their idea over to pc makers of whom completely fumbled it.
What people don't seem to understand or realise.
Is the steam deck is a great example of what valve could and can do.
If ps5 pro pricing is any indication to the price of entry into ps6, then yes pc gaming will servely impact consoles but only if valve have something to do with it.
All it will take is valve to make a better version of the steam deck, which comes with a dedicated dock which has extra power to transfer it to the tv for the same price.
And right there you have a true competitor to sonys dedicated home console.
I mean right now the steam deck is a complete marvel to behold. Your complete steam library from old to new all playable on a device, steam game prices being lower, 0 monthly payments for online gaming.
All it would take is a jump up in performance and a dock similar to switch and you have a pc rivaling playstation.
So technically you could buy let's say steam deck 2, have the full force of variety of games in the steam library with the Sony exclusives all in 1 console and cheaper in the long run.
With tech getting better year on year and valve firmly in a great place and understanding. .it could change by the ps6
I'm not sure what reason there was to type the last paragraph?
This game was from the start advertised as a live service multi player game.
You know exactly what your getting with marvel rivals and that's why it is a success.
The 2 games you mentioned were full priced games which had single player parts to the game and shoe horned in live service elements.
Avengers, a very short but great single player game, which was advertised that way, but then the live service part was so lack luster and shoe horned in elements which just don't belong in that type of game, by armour and shields and have to level up your hero? Just no and thr missions were so boring and repetitive.
Suicide Squad full priced game, coming from the legends of single player super hero games, to then throw you into a multi player world where you just shoot purple blobs, with lack luster boss fights.
Both games advertised single player elements so both games were deceiving it's core audiences.
Marvel rivals a free to play live service fight each other as your favourite heroes or villains. It's exactly what it says it is.
Not developed by developers who are primarily work on great single player games to begin with.
I voted for intergalactic, only because finally Naughty Dog are doing something fresh it's been 2 whole consoles since they did something different, on top of all the remasters.
Still wouldn't say no to an uncharted. Hahaha fingers crossed.
But intergalactic looks like it's going to be a nice cross between uncharted comedy and last of us serious tone.
PS5 OG, PS5 SLIM, same exact console. Sales figures are all the same
Xbox Series X (Flagship Console) Xbox Series S (inferior troubled Console for developers) Sales figures are Combined making it harder to determine individual figures.
It means that even at half each it's only 14m and what's to say that many who bought an Xbox for Maybe there child, just bought a series s which could suggest that the series S is Xbox best selling console out of the 2. We just don't actually know.
Which paints a very dire picture of the Xbox brand right now.
All this is just from September, let alone the pro launching and with the ps5 sale, that number could be alot bigger and faster growing.
Let alone with Christmas just a week away.
So with those figures and then splitting the figures, would it even be worth spending excess money to port the game to not only Series X but having to figure it all out to get it on Series S?
@yazzika To be fair to concord, the actual trailer gave off a great vibe and felt like a welcome addition to a playstation exclusive which was a little different to the father son/daughter vibes we've gotten for along time, less serious, more fun.
What killed it for Concord was that it was a pretty standard 5v5 hero shooter with nice cut scenes.
Concord would of blown up, if it was a third person action adventure because that's exactly what the trailers made you feel.
The marketing for that game was just awful for the game we actually got.
At least with Naughty Dog we know it's going to be a third person action adventure, we know they are great story tellers and we know finally we have something different than a ground dead serious grounded game.
It's refreshing to see something new.
Naught Dog have literally spent 2/3 consoles doing the same 2 IPs.
@Boucho11 I have no doubt but it just seems a very odd path to go, considering the success of SIFU.
A online soccer game. I just dont see anyone remotely interested if your viewing the game as a sifu fan. If that makes sense.
There is one thing making a more bigger and better game than your previous, its another completely changing up the genre to basically a live service game.
So the team behind one of the best martial art roguelikw type may aswel be in its own category indie game maker, isn't gonna stick with and improve on the success of SIFU
Ps5 is outselling xbox series x and s by about 10 to 1 if not more.
Its actually at the point that no ones buying an xbox.
You ain't losing much, it's the whole reason xbox are now considering first party games be portrd over to ps5.
Reality is aslong as its ps5 and pc, thats where money is coming.
Xbox maybe for a little spare change but then you have to think, is it worth the development time to port it over when numbers aren't even high anymore.
Xbox shot themselves in the foot by going all in on gamepass and its just not profitable.
I'd actually say that aliens dark descent is the headline here.
I've been wanting to try this game since it came out, everyone has raved about it and watching the playthroughs seem legit claim to be a great alien game.
But saying that for 3 games in the Xmas month, it is a little bit of a let down.
You would think they would opt for some big hitters aswel seeing as though it's probably the world's biggest holiday season.
But you can't win them all and we always have the extra games coming mid month so can't grumble. It's been a great year in my opinion
It was the actual game what turned me off this not the actual trailers.
Maybe I was in the minority, but I kind of liked the vibe of the trailers, it really gave off a pretty flushed out world and a deeper story of a miss fit gang.
My problem was all that amazing work with the story elements. Turned into a very weird 5v5 hero shooter with 100s of other characters and that gameplay isn't my thing in the first place but really doesn't do anything to help the story along. .
Unlike say the division where the game itself is a linear story but with a live service element.
Or even helldivers 2, where you are a soldier and are fighting a war and the live service part is everyone else is the exact same fighting the war along side you and pushing the story thar way. .so Concord was a miss match and how anyone thought that style of game could work with what was ment to be a quite deep story is beyond me.
So what I'm getting at is maybe concord would work better as a series or movie. I'm looking forward to it.
I mean who actually watched that trailer without knowing the gameplay elements, would you ever of thought it's a pretty bland 5v5 fps hero shooter. .
In my mind when I saw it I thought, yep classic Sony A class third person adventure.

@ErrantRob I'd love this level of detail and a full game and open world story game of the attitude era.
It's the dream. The best they produced was a few years back when they had a mode for it.
I mean the story lines and actual acting and fueds felt alot more natural than today.
Great times. Never watched wrestling since.

Really didn't like frostpunk 2 though with its change in direction of not placing the actual buildings, it just isn't me.
This looks like a great cross between their first 2 games I mentioned.
Looking forward to it
Re: AMD Hypes Up PS6 Collaboration, FSR 4 Upscaling Tech
@Andy22385 @HonestHick
Yes your both correct it is different and it is separate grom fsr for the ps5 pro.
But the basis of pssr was developed from AMDs fsr to work with AMDs chip set and components within the ps5 pro as its all AMD based.
There is a reason Sony and AMD have become partners and not rivals in this market.
They've both worked together in making the specific engine.
I expect them to work together on both fsr and future pssr versions.
Pssr will be console focused and fsr is more PC market.
They actually collaborated to make the pssr as its a dedicated software for console and not PC.
Why do you AMD and
Re: As Fans Eagerly Await Updates on GTA 6, Rockstar Promotes New Danny Dyer Film
@Deljo also not a huge role but human traffic was a great film for it's time and Danny plays his character well.
He also played a pretty good role in the not to bad Mean Machine, with Vinnie Jones and Jason Statham.
Can't hate on Danny Dyer, he came from nothing and he just grafted until he made it.
Re: AMD Hypes Up PS6 Collaboration, FSR 4 Upscaling Tech
@Andy22385 @HonestHick
Just to make sure you are aware.
PSSR is just FSR, with slight custom tweaks.
Playstation isn't walking away from anything.
They are collaborating with AMD.
On a Sony console its still going to be called PSSR. It's just marketing to sell the console.
FSR 4 will literally just be PSSR on ps6. Or it will be 2.0.
All PSSR is. Is a custom version of FSR. Win win for everyone.

I ain't paying 49.99 for it and I'm not buying a disc drive. So they've lost a sale from me
Re: Rumour: One of Sony's Last PS5 Live Service Games Fairgames Out in 2026
I'm truly not that interested and how can anyone be. We got a cgi trailer which basically showed nothing of interest or what the game was going to be.
We keep hearing about revolutionary this game is and blah blah blah.
Yet nothing shown of actual interest.
Playstation have completely destroyed some good studios for the search of riches with live service games

But like someone else said Sony needs to bring back its old non sim racers.

Re: Resident Evil 6 Appears Set for a PS5 Port
@rusty82 code Veronica is a great game. More inline with the slower pace of 1 than the more action of 2.
Nemesis definitely feels more like a spin off of 2 than a true sequel.
I always questioned it when it came out.
Until I read an article or maybe even a indepth video of resident evil history decades ago it feels like now.
Someone quoted myself and gave an even more indepth view of it and a link to a great article about it.
Re: Resident Evil 6 Appears Set for a PS5 Port
@PuppetMaster what i read was years ago. I believe around the time of resi 4 and was a history of resident evil.
I do believe that it was also PlayStation truly pushing capcom for a sequel quicker aswel due to the success they had with both resi 1 and 2.
Spin off sounds right though for nemesis it's such a short game.
Code Veronica is a pretty substantial full game.
But thankyou for a detailed article from them. Good find.
I will see if I can find the article I read all those years ago regarding it.

Playstation gone the way of xbox it seems.

Blue Point was a can do no wrong developer and they was making a live service game. Bloody stupid. Just let them do what they are good at.
Live service is just not worth this
Bend well its bend. Thats what they've been doing for years, I expect them to be gone soon enough.
Re: Poll: Will the Switch 2 Compete with PS5?

Not switch in and out. I'm still baffled at exactly is premium about it.

I don't know how it would work without a light gun.

The amount of time I spent perfecting thr Time crisis game with a light gun and thesr games were what made up arcades.
How can these games be played any other way without taking away what was special about them.

Re: Leaked GTA 6 Image, Reportedly from Rockstar's Own Office, Surfaces
@OldGamer999 I honestly think it is a safe bet.
Just look at every ps5 game.
We have
quality mode
Performance mode
At the very bare minimum.
So why wouldn't gta 6 have at least those 2 options.
Let alone we now have games on the probl using pssr and reaching 4k 60fps.
Rockstars are the masters of optimisation.
We do have gta 5 60fps on ps5.
We have to remember that gta 5 literally came out on the ps3. Like we haven't seen rockstar at full swing on a gta since then.
We have a good idea due to rdr2 but even they abandoned that pretty quickly after release.
Plus games basically were all 30fps on ps3 and ps4, it wasn't until the ps4 pro came out 60fps became a main stay on home consoles.
So for me it's certain that we will get a quality mode and a performance mode at the very least. Let alone other options like many games have done.
Re: Leaked GTA 6 Image, Reportedly from Rockstar's Own Office, Surfaces
@OldGamer999 I mean why won't it be in 60fps.
They have said nothing about gta 6 and frame rate.
All we have had is digital foundry put their 2 cents in and a load of YouTubers saying 30fps.
We have had no official word that gta 6 will be 30 or 60.
And like digital foundry have said if anyone can pull it off its rockstar.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Most Anticipated PS5 Games of 2025?
Sorry but there are more than five on that list. I can't wait for.
2025 could be one of the biggest years in gaming for myself.
Re: Feature: The Game Awards 2024's Best Announcement, As Voted By You
I voted for intergalactic, only because finally Naughty Dog are doing something fresh it's been 2 whole consoles since they did something different, on top of all the remasters.
Still wouldn't say no to an uncharted. Hahaha fingers crossed.
But intergalactic looks like it's going to be a nice cross between uncharted comedy and last of us serious tone.
Looking forward to it.

@JustCameHereToSay @cburg
10 to 1 quite simple, maybe more to be honest.
Forces.com as of Sept 2024
PS5 61.7m
Xbox series X/S 28.3m
Many other websites giving out the same numbers,
Let's put that into perspective.
PS5 OG, PS5 SLIM, same exact console.
Sales figures are all the same
Xbox Series X (Flagship Console)
Xbox Series S (inferior troubled Console for developers)
Sales figures are Combined making it harder to determine individual figures.
Re: Naughty Dog's New PS5 Game Is Finally Announced, Sci-Fi Action Title Intergalactic
It's been a long time coming.
Re: Sifu Dev Is Making a Crazy Online Football Game Called Rematch, for PS5 in 2025
@Boucho11 I have no doubt but it just seems a very odd path to go, considering the success of SIFU.
A online soccer game. I just dont see anyone remotely interested if your viewing the game as a sifu fan. If that makes sense.
There is one thing making a more bigger and better game than your previous, its another completely changing up the genre to basically a live service game.
Re: Sifu Dev Is Making a Crazy Online Football Game Called Rematch, for PS5 in 2025
So the team behind one of the best martial art roguelikw type may aswel be in its own category indie game maker, isn't gonna stick with and improve on the success of SIFU
Instead make a game about soccer?
I watched the trailer....
It looked sh*t.
Re: Rumour: Kadokawa Employees Eager for Sony Buyout and Change in Management
@JustCameHereToSay I mean what revenue stream?
Ps5 is outselling xbox series x and s by about 10 to 1 if not more.
Its actually at the point that no ones buying an xbox.
You ain't losing much, it's the whole reason xbox are now considering first party games be portrd over to ps5.
Reality is aslong as its ps5 and pc, thats where money is coming.
Xbox maybe for a little spare change but then you have to think, is it worth the development time to port it over when numbers aren't even high anymore.
Xbox shot themselves in the foot by going all in on gamepass and its just not profitable.
Re: Video: Over 60 of the Most Essential PS5 Games So Far
Can someone just list them so I don't have to watch the video hahaha.
I'm walking in the storm, can't hear a dam thing hahaha
Re: Your 2024 PlayStation Wrap-Up Will Be Available Starting Next Week
@Ravix that looks awful, is this how xbox do it these days? Hahaha
Playstation seem to put alot of effort into their wrap up menus.
On note, I always enjoy the wrap up, 99% of the time you know what you've spent the most time with, but that 1 % is the best part
Re: Round Up: Indiana Jones Reviews Are Live, Mostly Very Strong
Honestly reading all the reviews. I actually think that pure xbox score reflects what is written.
Lackluster AI, another game what makes you use stealth when they haven't bothered to create a smart ai system for stealth.
I may give it a go one day but from what I've seen, the 3rd person perspective looked better than the first person gameplay.
Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Thinks the Days of Consoles Are Numbered
What he is completely forgetting is the sheer fact what would you play on?
Are we going to just have millions of server farms and we all stream? That is not feasible or realistic.
Consoles are never going away until the tech is so small they fit into a tv.
This also makes no sense when the ps5 itself is out pacing many of the consoles from the passed. Its not slowing down.
The switch is selling even more.
Consoles are here to stay.
Tech may not be jumping like the ps2 to ps3, but actually it is but in other aspects not just resolution.
I dont know whether this has just been taken out of context from what he said.
But consoles aren't dying, far from it.
Re: This Horizon Rip-Off Has to Be One of the Most Blatant Copycat Games Ever
Looks better than horizon, I saw more action in that trailer, than any passion from Aloy.
Hahahaha flying metal bug, horizon don't do that, they make robot dinosaurs and then shout at people for calling them robot dinosaurs. Hahaha
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for December 2024 Announced
I'd actually say that aliens dark descent is the headline here.
I've been wanting to try this game since it came out, everyone has raved about it and watching the playthroughs seem legit claim to be a great alien game.
But saying that for 3 games in the Xmas month, it is a little bit of a let down.
You would think they would opt for some big hitters aswel seeing as though it's probably the world's biggest holiday season.
But you can't win them all and we always have the extra games coming mid month so can't grumble. It's been a great year in my opinion
Re: Secret Level's Concord Episode Has a Trailer, and It Feels Really Weird
Re: Talking Point: Would You Want a Steam Deck-Like Portable PlayStation?
It just won't work unfortunately. Not as just a dedicated handheld.
It would have to be a steam deck clone for it to work.
Just like I can play my entire library of steam games on a steam deck.
It would have to be ny entire library of psn games. It would have to be able to natively every game I own on ps4 ps5 and ps6. No questions asked.
Gone are the days of a handheld coming out which is just standalone.
No one cared for the vita and Sony sure as h*ll don't support the secondary devices they put out.
So it would only work if they did a ps portal with native full library access just like the steam deck.
Problem is, is that enough?
I mean it really depends on how many they want to sell and profit.
We all love the idea of the steamdeck but sales are less than 10m in total according to figures. Can Sony risk or want to risk that little sales.
