Despite Black Panther Cancellation, EA Is Still Making Three Games with Marvel 1

In case you missed the news earlier this week, EA has cancelled its Black Panther game, as well as shut down the studio that was making it.

It was officially announced about two years ago, and was part of a three-game partnership with Marvel.

Now that the project has been shut down, what's going on with EA's deal with Marvel? Well, it sounds like nothing's changed from that angle.

IGN received a couple of statements about this; the first is from EA Entertainment president Laura Miele. "Our partnership with Marvel remains strong and our multi-title, long-term collaboration continues," she says.

Additionally, another spokesperson provided this statement: "The multi-title, long-term relationship between Marvel Games and EA, a creative collaboration focused on original storytelling with various, beloved Marvel characters, remains strong. Development of our console and PC titles, beginning with Marvel's Iron Man, is led by Motive Studios."

When asked if this means EA is still planning to produce a total of three games, the spokesperson confirmed this is the case.

So, while the Black Panther game is no more, EA still has a plan for a trio of Marvel titles, with the first being developer Motive Studios' Iron Man game — announced back in 2022.

Motive is the same team behind the remake of Dead Space, and previously brought us Star Wars: Squadrons and contributed to Star Wars Battlefront 2 (which, by the way, is seeing a huge resurgence of players).
