Marathon is Sony's best FPS of all time. The game is amazing. The problem is Marathon is a little too hardcore for even regular gamers. You can't expect 5 million units for a competitive extraction shooter even when it is this well executed.
Am I enjoying it? I'm having a blast, I'm totally hooked, I absolutely LOVE it. I love the art style, the gameplay, the lore & graphics, environments, sound design, PVP, PVE, I even like the menus! The map design is AMAZING. There is so much to learn and do on every map. I'm loving the gameplay loop and dying has just felt like an opportunity to try new shells, use new things from my vault, or try Rook- who is one of the coolest ways to play multiplayer game I've experienced. Marathon is already one of my favorite games of all time.
@Slayer25c As far as I'm aware, Arc Raiders makes it optional. Call of Duty is putting out more live service content with each season than anything but Fortnite, and they don't do resets. So it seems to me like it is optional in both love service & extraction shooters.
If all my progress is being reset in June, that actually feels like a big deal, and now I'm re-considering buying the game. If they're not adding enough content to keep things fresh and instead keep resetting the base game progression that's going to get old real quick.
I think Jaffe is an awesome creator, a smart guy, and honest as all hell. He is right, the game should not have seen the light of day in this state. First party is about curation and putting out games that are the top of the genre. This game is not that, it isn't worthy of the God of War name. Jaffe is right, Shuhei Yoshida would have cancelled this rather than put it out with God of War's name.
Also, why is everyone so angry at him? All these comments and everywhere online I see people being so negative. His opinion might not be your opinion, that doesn't make it a problem or worthless. He's a legendary dude and he's just giving his opinion on another entry into the franchise he created. Would people be this angry at George Lucas for commenting on new Star Wars tv?
The problem with this is that the Last of Us Part 2 documentary they put out with the PS5 re-release had discussions about how they worked very hard over COVID to revolutionize their development strategies and get rid of crunch for good. Then they cancelled the multiplayer project, and now this? Annoying, and worrying. We'll see if they can deliver on Heretic because the bar is insanely high, again
I think they were seriously missing out on showing Matthew McConaughey's character, and if he's not a character in the game that's an even bigger issue. He just needs to be at least someone's uncle for a scene so he's in the game.
The multiplayer is exceptional. Season 1 maps are a little bit *****, but I do believe they've gotten the second best multiplayer since Black Ops 1 (and its predecessors) into our hands.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 would be GOTY material right now if it wasn't prone to spawning artifacts underground and enemies right behind you. And you run extremely slowly compared to SoC. And objects can be thrown at you right through map geometry. And you will die hundreds of times and wait 30 seconds to reset.
Generally episodic was a failure because the games were succeeding despite episodic format. I think the original Life is Strange was very interesting in an episodic format, but not release-schedule-wise, just to separate the story into memorable segments. I think Alan Wake 2 is an example of using episodic formatting to deliver intriguing story alongside great music. Another game, TLOU 2, is also somewhat set out in episodic format in an adjacent manner and it really suceeded for me since day 1.
The game library is unbelievably good. It's all of PS4, plus all of PS5, plus classics, plus remasters & remakes, there's more good game to play now than ever in history. And they're so accessible and often cheap. Best console ever, for me.
There's now around $170 of Premium Warbonds that are locking weapons, stratagems, grenades, and specializations behind a paywall. And after 60 hours I only got enough in-game currency for 1.5 of them. I paid good money for the game and it sucks that it's so expensive if I want to experience more of the post-launch support than just maps and enemies. I don't know why it isn't talked about more, but the monetization is a bummer.
"There will be no multiplayer included." Are you f-ing kidding me? Lmao what a useless game. If the master chief collection hasn't been announced (preferably already released!) on PS5 by the time this remake hits, it will be such a buzz kill. Halo is and always has been about MULTIPLAYER!!! Forge and Multiplayer are more of Halo than the single-player EVER has been. Microsoft, please
Every game that I buy has decided to come to PS Plus to mock me. $40 on WWE2K25, and then it comes a month later. $40 on Silent Hill 2 and then it comes a month later. Next you're gonna tell me Ghost of Yotei is coming to PS Plus in December and I'm gonna crap a brick
@BennyTheCat Stellar Blade is a soulslike, Spiderman feels good with higher frame rates, Days Gone might look interesting with the hordes moving at 120. Any shooter on this list will be better at 144hz anyway
Games are going to be free to play on your TV and Ai-driven. Oh yeah, and Sony is hot garbage. You know during the peak of PlayStation's existence both revenue wise and accolades wise. Sure man, whatever you say. AI could replace this guy's takes real easy
Damn I was hoping for a new commentary go-over of the whole game. Ever since we lost martin Tyler and Alan Smith the commentating has been lifeless, repetitive junk
I played the Stalker collection of the older games on PS5 this year. Some of my new favorite games ever. The middle one (Clear Sky) is complete unplayable garbage, but Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat are GOATed games. They play so well even now, I feel. I have been interested in Stalker 2 since it was unveiled in what, 2019? Very excited to get my hands on it. I think it's in my top 5 most anticipated games.
China has disregarded intellectual property rights for decades, so I'm curious if this is one of the first major examples of a Chinese company having to defend its plagiarism. They're so used to doing it I wonder if they even expected this suit
I'll try it out, but it is NOT inspiring that it's going to be free-to-play, this screams to me that they are not confident in its quality or ability to draw players. Judging from the new steam reviews the game is not in a good state and the devs have not listened to the fans
The Last of Us Part 2 is flawlessly true to life. The Alan Wake 2 has unmatched lighting and visual design. Horizon Forbidden West has the most flawless 4k texturing with a great 40fps mode. And I'm really surprised at how much Sword Of The Sea impresses with its art design and colors.
Nice I bought this WWE game a couple weeks ago, thought I was getting a steal. Turns out I was just setting myself up for disappointment. Literally hundreds of games on my wishlist and somehow still get stiffed
I think the first hour of this game is really damn good. You get straight into the gameplay and the gorgeous environment and awesome systems. Please give it a try
@RawnDawn All 141 avatars are back on PS5! Thanks for the @, mate. Very happy they took the time to fix this- the reason I got so many was I figured my avatar purchases would be honored on my account until I die or the apocalypse, not that they'd die with my PS3. Finally, some good news
Is it just me or does this beg the question what is Kojima Productions working on? Are they all on vacation still, or is it Death Stranding 2 DLC? New map would be my dream...
