I didn't see anything interesting on the game side.
One thing that did cement for me; no real reason to buy a PS or XBS anymore if you are into PCs and have the money for them. A nice PC (more expensive yes but MUCH better for games) is going to get you MS games day 1 and pretty much all Sony's first party stuff within a year or 2.
Too bad chip issues have murdered the PC market and drove costs sky high.
If it's cut down gfx running sub 60 then count me out. Actually probably needs to run at 120 or faster but I'm not read up on the limitations/motion sickness issues these things can bring. I do understand that something like 8k an eye is where it's at due to screen door fx and all that.
So at the res Sony is touting the specs on the 2; I have to wonder what tricks they're using to push that res or will this be released next to a PS5 pro?
I mean the system can barely do 4k without a lot of dynamic res and trickery; I don't see how the VR2 will work if they're trying to push 4000x4080.
The min requirements are about on par with the new consoles.
These things are way behind and the chip shortage/covid did MS/Sony no favors.
I'd expect pro models out in a year or so if they want to at least attempt to keep up. Might get them into 2080 territory... Maybe. Also hitching to AMD was a bad idea but I guess Nvidia has a bad track record with supporting old stuff (Xbox). I guess they do OK with the Switch though.
I don't buy it. Both consoles are cheap slow AMD procs/gfx cards. There's no reason say Naughty Dog can't try to wring whatever out of the thing and then Sony port that to PC with barely any effort and it run much better with much higher gfx settings.
Maybe you are still thinking consoles are some esoteric chip/feature sets like that dumb PS3 but no; they're bog standard PCs now albeit slow ones. No reason Sony can't port whatever 6 months/1 year after the fact and it be fine.
Also MS owns Windows so they have a stake in the PC side hence the dual releases.
Well games have gotten more 'samey' in the last few years even without whatever you don't like about PC ports. The industry is consolidating hard and who knows what will come of it. Does Sony exit the console business if MS can buy up enough IP? Does the market have another crash/correction? Who knows.
PC ports are a good thing imo. Brings more money in and that's a group these low end machines aren't competing with really.
I think it's a good thing. I also like MS' day 1 release XB/PC but I understand Sony can't really do that; since MS owns Windows it's a win win for them.
The PS5 can force it like the XBSX but Sony's implementation is as lazy as they could do. Just the bog standard HDMI VRR. MS at least dropped the floor of their VRR to I believe 42 FPS or something like that. Sony just stuck to the 48fps floor so it isn't as good. Devs can patch in better as gearbox looks to have as I believe insomniac had theirs ready day 1 but if devs just rely on the PS5 OS it's not as good.
Thanks for that info. These games quickly drop in price so instead of waiting for some full edition or season pass I'll just grab the base once it's dirt cheap.
It's sad too because I loved the B2 DLC stuff. I have B3 but haven't really played it as I just burned out after 1/2/pre-sequel.
Interesting. I want to get it eventually so should I just wait till the base version goes cheap and just skip the DLC? I'm not a grind player so if the DLC isn't more 'game' and just runs of something I'll skip that stuff.
Nothing really as I have a ton of games unfinished and plenty to play.
The Playstation 'gamepass' was interesting till Jim Ryan again opened his mouth and made me hate Sony. Also their stupid 'keep all the new games off cause $$$$$$$$$$$' crap.
Honestly; IF I could sell my digital games with my PS5 I'd probably get rid of it and get an XBSX. Microsoft is just doing it right now and Sony is still stuck in a mountain of hubris I just hate to deal with.
Oh well; is what it is. Going to work on finishing Uncharted 3....
If I ever get sony gamepass I might try it but it doesn't seem like a game that I would need to 'own'. Really most games I don't care to own but here we are.
Eh. I'm happy with 60fps on games. I'll take that over 30 any day.
Once we get into the 'unreal 5' stuff resolutions are going to crater as will framerates. Since neither the ps5 nor the xbsx are all that powerful especially now. Not as anemic as the 4/xb1 was (tragic those 2) but still slow enough. I do like the reduced load times.
Well it's Fromsoftware. Their 'greatest game ever in the world' Elden Ring doesn't run well either and still looks like a mess with poor lighting and some real jank.
One does not play a Fromsoftware game for the visuals; that's for sure.
MS is an OS/software company and knows what they're doing on that side. Sony is decidedly not so that's why the XBSX is so much better supported with things like VRR/boost/hdr/etc.
At least Sony is going to put VRR in. Should've been day 1 but I guess Jim Ryan doesn't like VRR like he doesn't like BC. WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT THAT... hurr durr Jim you idiot..
I'm dumb so I'm playing GTAV again. I should play Cyberpunk or anything else but here I am replaying a game I beat on the PC with better graphics years ago.
Yeah. Sony buying Square and Nintendo buying Capcom would be something I guess. Or N buying Konami's IP/Or Sony. I don't think buying Konami outright would matter. They don't do games anymore really.
Don't know why anyone would buy Sega. Nintendo buying Sega would be crazy after all the 90's wars.
I hate everything Ryan says. No one needs back compat? What a jerkoff Sony stooge.
BUT this is how it's going down we all lose sadly. Maybe S buys Square, N buys Capcom, MS has already got Actilizzard.. Who wants Ubi? I think EA is just too big BUT MS has deep pockets..

Re: Hands On: The Crew 2's PS5 Patch Feels Better at 60fps, But There's a Catch
@get2sammyb
I only own a PS5. Forza still is the gfx bar for all racing games. No one does it better than those guys.
Re: Hands On: The Crew 2's PS5 Patch Feels Better at 60fps, But There's a Catch
The new Forza does look really nice.
Those guys are definitely #1 when it comes to gfx in racing games. No one else comes close imo.
Re: Take-Two Boss Believes New PS Plus Is the Right Approach to Subscriptions
Hah.
From the company that's released GTAV 100 times?
Oh noes. Subscriptions..
Re: Xbox Appeared to Embargo PS5, PS4 Versions of Some Showcase Games
@twitchtvpat
Maybe MS shouldn't be paying for sony's advertisements and vice-versa?
Embargo is fine to me if MS wants to try and make folks believe some games are XB exclusive. They're advertising after all.
Re: Xbox Appeared to Embargo PS5, PS4 Versions of Some Showcase Games
I don't see why ANY multiplatform titles are announced at these things.
Should be all exclusives imo. If they don't have enough exclusives then just show the few they have or don't waste the money.
Re: Poll: Will You Buy The Last of Us: Part I?
I played like 10-15 minutes of it on PS3. I still have it somewhere.
Might play the remake if I ever sub to the PSwhatever tier or it's like 5$ sometime.
Re: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Had A Stamina Mechanic In Early Drafts
No bueno on a stamina bar.
No bueno on breaking weapons as well.
No bueno for Zelda BOTW for me. Bounced off those mechanics hard. Mainly the breaking weapons shenanigans.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Sniper Elite 5?
I had no idea what these games were until I watched the DF breakdown of 5.
I always thought they were those silly phone type games. Doesn't look like they're for me but much better than I was thinking.

Yep and it has to run well.

Also the headsets need to be ultra light.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 428
@Th3solution
Kena is a nice looking game. Not too far in myself but I'll get back to it eventually.
Working on Alienation with a few GTAV missions here and there.
Re: Sony Patches Band-Aid into PS Plus' PS1 Games, As Emulation Is Taken to Task
Sony is really awful at software. Just embarrassingly awful.
Re: CDPR Confirms Most Devs Now on Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion as New Witcher Enters Pre-Production
I'd rather they be working on Witcher 3 PS5/XBSX update myself.
Re: Sony 'Not at All Finished' Growing PlayStation Studios via Acquisitions
Well Ubi/EA are up for sale....
I guess maybe Square now that they've sold all their good IP.

Re: Rumour: PS5 Exclusive Returnal Likely Heading to PC Soon
@Texan_Survivor
The PS5 is dirt cheap. A good PC is going to set you back a few thousand.
That's why I'm sticking to it for now and quit PC gaming. The gfx on the PS5 are bad comparatively but it's fine on my cheap 4k Samsung.
Re: Rumour: PS5 Exclusive Returnal Likely Heading to PC Soon
@Deljo
Until you price out those new cards......
PC gaming is great but getting really pricey. Of course having good RT instead of whatever these toys can produce is a bonus.
Re: Rumour: PS5 Exclusive Returnal Likely Heading to PC Soon
@IonMagi
That was already debunked. Mark Cerney is a corporate idiot.
M drives are great but there's no special sauce in a cheap console. The slowest M drives are still perfectly fine.
Re: Assassin's Creed Origins 60FPS PS5 Patch Expected to Drop in June
I have the PC copy but my PC is old so it's running in the 40'sFPS.
I might grab this one if I can get the full thing for like 5$ or something.

Re: New PS Store Weekend Sale Has Lots of Cheap PS5, PS4 Games
Picked up Alienation for a reasonable 5$.
Re: PS5 VRR Support Patched into Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
I'm really disappointed with Sony's lazy VRR implementation. I know Sony isn't a software company but cmon.
Re: The Witcher 3 Celebrates 7th Anniversary, but Still No Update on PS5 Version
I have the PC version but only played a little.
Got the PS4 complete for like 10$ and am waiting for the PS5 update to actually start playing.
Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Allegedly a Major Holiday Release
Why did they never upgrade Uncharted 1-3 for the PS5?
Re: GTA 5 on PS5 Sells Even Better Than Expected
@Uncharted2007
I only repurchased because I don't use my PC anymore and I got it when they were first offering it for 10$.
No way I'd have paid full price or anything.
I really want Tiny Tina but I'm waiting on the inevitable 5$ full game with all the DLC.
Re: Here's Your First Look at Netflix's Resident Evil

Netflix is like Fox. Never try to watch anything that's more than 1 season; it'll just be canned.
Re: PS5, PS4 Exclusives Will 'Deteriorate' if Launched on PS Plus, Says Sony CFO
And yet somehow MS can do it.
I guess Sony is pretty broke.
Re: PS Store Weekend Offer Cuts More PS5, PS4 Prices
@themuckman
Is it a twin stick or a click to shoot?
I love the old 360/ps3 twin stick stuff but I'm not a big fan of the Halo type games.
Re: PS Store Weekend Offer Cuts More PS5, PS4 Prices
I want to get Alienation but I'm not paying 20$ for that.
Cmon Sony; drop that to 5$ and we have a deal!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 425
Playing Uncharted 3.
I'm pretty close to the end after like 10 years.

I've tried again and again to enjoy Cyberpunk but it's just not happening. Going to put it down and wait for all DLC/whatever to release.
I'm going to keep working on Uncharted 3 (ps4).

Where's my VRR and PS2 BC? Oh right.
Re: The House of the Dead Remake Coming to PS4, Out Next Week

Yeah I dunno about VR but without a light gun why would one even play this?
Is there like some 'auto-aim button' you just hit ala' GTA to kill stuff?

Oh well.
Re: The Witcher 3 PS5 Version Delayed as CDPR Moves Development In-House
@RunGMhx
I went ahead and got the ps4 copy for cheap. Haven't installed. Will install when the PS5 update releases.
I don't care when; I have plenty to play but CDPR can't seem to get out of their own way anymore. Maybe time for new management.
Re: Video: How to Change PS5 Cover Plates
I ended up getting the dark plates.
The PS5 looks like dogs!@#. Might be the ugliest console ever released. The black plates look nicer but it's still a hideous design.
XBSX for the win there. After that awful 360 design.
Re: Rumour: New Need for Speed Is Current-Gen Only, Leaving PS4 in the Dust
@darkswabber
XBSX are pretty easy to snag now. PS5s are also appearing more frequently.
Jettison the old consoles. The 'new' ones aren't very powerful in the grand scheme but it's still better than the old stuff so time to move on.
