I do find it interesting pushing the PS5 pro so hard in this with little to no knowledge of what it really is.

They're talking/releasing a pro.

IMO the PS5 should be about $299 right now. Also much smaller and in a better FF than whatever crapped outta JPN at release.

I'm not sure anyone is optimizing anything for a 4090; you're just brute forcing stuff with that guy.

Not to mention all the stutter/shader issues that plague the PC.

Yeah the 1x was a real bummer when MS killed it so quick.

I really don't see a use case for a 'Pro'. I'd rather them release a fully updated PS6 and ditch this gen. Unless AMD doesn't have anything much better to offer. Really time to move over to Arm but that's another discussion.

I don't think it's as much optimization as:

The system isn't very powerful.

The system was designed before RT took off.

AMD's stuff isn't very good. I'd love to see someone take another MS gamble on something like AMD cpu/Nvidia 4xxxx+ setup. Fat chance I guess.

Unreal is generally terrible on the generation it released. UE4 finally runs well on the PS5. UE5 will require PS6+. UE6 the same and so on. Maybe blame Epic there; I dunno.

The only thing this gen brought was fast load times and that's fine by me. At least that can't be clawed back the next gen like disc drives seem to be.

Looks like something that might be worth getting on the SteamDeck when a sale drops it to sub 5$.

Microsoft is a mess no matter what division one talks about.

From Windows to Office to Azure and beyond; the company is either too big to deal with this much or just poorly run. The communication between departments is just massively poor.

Don't much care about the trailer since it'll probably show much of nothing but I AM ready for GTA6.

I've enjoyed all of them except 4 though I did like the side spin-off motorcycle gang dlc. Didn't play Gay Tony but that might've been fun. Standard 4 just didn't grab me at all.

Of course VC is my favorite just due to 80's Miami. Next would be SA then 5.

Hope 6 turns out well and not a side piece bolted onto a multiplayer game like COD has turned into.

I still need to get to playing the Uncharted bundle. I still need to play the side game with the chick (forget her name) and Uncharted 4. Still longer than 8 hours but still nice to play a game that isn't 'go to icon do thing'....

Just grabbed a new copy of the PS4 disc for 20$. So 10$ for the update and 30$ seems reasonable for a game I've never played that folks seem to think is a very good experience.

I'm sick of open world stuff so going for more curated games that don't last 100 hours. I hope this is a nice 8 hour time that I can finish.

Never played either though I own 1 on the PS3. I'll grab that one cheap used eventually as well.

I don't mind it. There are a lot of us that never played these games or had a PS4 or whatever. I'm sure ND is working on other things. Devs can have more than 1 thing working at a time.

IMO they should have made it to where at least it could play PSP/Vita games or something like that. That right there would have been a really nice value-add that wouldn't have cost Sony much of anything to implement.

As it stands it's a 200$ portable monitor that doesn't even direct connect to the PS5 like the WiiU remote did. That imo is a big oversight. Why should I have to stream over wifi when they could've direct connected (within reasonable distance/topography)?

I thought about it but 200$ for such a limited device isn't worth it to me.

I went ahead and got a SteamDeck Oled. I'll just stream from that if I ever want to.

I'm really surprised it doesn't direct connect like the WiiU controller did.

I've done the Steamlink thing and yeah it works but there is some lag there. I didn't care about this outside of the house so no direct connect is pretty much a deal-breaker.

I was thinking of getting one of these but instead will spend the money on an OLED SteamDeck.

Interested to see how these work though.

Stuff like Diablo4 I bought digital cause it's worthless without being online anyway so whatever.

I'll buy cheap junk digital but for big titles I keep physical and usually buy used. Most all my PS4 games are used physical. No reason to pay 2+x as much for the digital copy of an old PS4 game.

Most of my PS5 games are physical barring some cheap stuff like when I double-dipped GTAV for 10$ or got that Uncharted remake bundle for cheap digital.

My question is why does the PS5 spin the drive up when starting a digital game? Super annoying and I don't want any more wear on that thing than I can help.

edit: I also collect a bit so yeah; they just shut this stuff down and say 'oh well buy these new things'. Awful and glad emulation and piracy is around to save things cause these faceless nameless corps don't care.

I have no idea what any of this is. I guess I don't pay attention to any of this stuff.

Switch2 maybe but not the og. GTAV never came to it so why would they try cramming 6 in?

Though I'm tempted to grab RDR on it but 60fps on the current gen is too good to pass up.

The engine is pretty scalable if they're using the same as RDR2/GTAV so I don't see why not.

Give the PS4 a 30fps 1080-ish game and give the current gen a 1080-ish upscaled 60fps game with more fx and better textures/whatever. Could work fine.

I'm ready for 6. I enjoyed 5 but did not enjoy 4; thought it was boring and I don't like the NYC maps. Too small and tight. I did not play Ballad of Gay Tony or much of the Motorcycle gang one so no opinion on those.

I never played either of the games (I have the first on PS3 but it was free and I played maybe 10 minutes) but watching the DF comparisons the first remake looks much much better than the old PS3 - 4 version remaster. I'd expect similar for the second.

I might pick them up for cheap someday. I'm not above playing PS4 games on PS5 if they perform better (Outer Worlds says hi) but I think Naughty Dog did a good job.

Maybe not at the price it's at to start but I'm a little interested if the lag is 0 or super super super low.

The steamlink worked pretty well on my older wifi so we'll see what Sony does with this.

Only in home use like my Switch. If I want to game outside I use my cheapo Anbernic and play older games. Throw that in a bag and if it gets destroyed whatever.

I've given it a few shakes and 30 or 60fps it's just not for me. None of From's games are it seems.

I guess I'll believe it when they announce it.

If this cadence is what is going to go then I dunno; I guess skip the base model each gen and go for pro to pro instead of og to pro to next og to pro etc.

I mean more power is always welcome but looking at the PC space even MOAR POWER isn't helping anything. Also I think MS/Sony were very short-sighted with using AMD. RT is really the 'thing' now and AMD just doesn't have the chops in that arena so a 'pro' model still using ancient AMD stuff isn't 'pro' the least bit.

I dunno; if consoles turn into the cellphone cadence I'd probably stop with them. Maybe just stick to N's stuff at that point and bow out of the mainline. There's enough games all around so it doesn't really matter I guess.

I have more PS4 games than PS5 games.

I don't have time to finish what I do have so game subscriptions aren't a thing for me; I do subscribe to too many tv/movie services though.

I have a short attention span and having 100 games to play anytime would mean I'd just skip and jump around a bunch and never finish anything. I like the idea of it in theory but I don't think it would work for me.

If DF gives it a good mark for how it runs then I'll definitely grab it once it goes on sale.

I picked up a used copy of the PS4 version.

Imo the last gen version looks better in some ways than the current gen revamp.

VR is super niche anyway so I don't think you can call any of them a 'failure'.

Sony made a decent kit but I'm still waiting on something better if I ever buy into VR. PS5 isn't powerful enough to push it. Open it up to PC and maybe but even still; VR is niche at best. It will need glasses size/weight devices running much much faster/higher res if it ever becomes mainstream. Bulky headsets just won't cut it.

Maybe if Sony can get HL:Alex on the thing (hah; I guess Gabe really still hates Sony) or some other big VR game then it would sell more but the price is also just out of the scope. 500 for the console and another 500 for glasses? That's a big ask. You're almost into a class of PC that would blow away these toys.

Yeah; that makes sense. Japanese companies are very slow to adapt to the market (Nintendo!) so I can see Sony JP being against 'sub' services. Too bad for them I guess.

I guess it's variable depending on publisher. Which is why I wonder why Sony is having such a hard time getting a better spread with PS+. Either they don't care enough or MS might be doing something henky on the back end with a contract that states the game can't be on PS+ if it's on GP. Something like that wouldn't surprise me.

My guess is either MS' deals with these companies to get the game on gamepass has an exclusivity clause that it can't be on PS+;

Or Sony doesn't know what they're doing and is too stuck in the 'buy the game' idea. Japanese companies aren't known for their dynamic management/market pivots. Just look at Nintendo or Toyota.

I mean they were dragged kicking and screaming into BC. You'd bet they'd rather not allow it.
