Re: Square Enix Bafflingly Backtracks on Final Fantasy 16 Sales, Blames 'Slow' PS5 Adoption

stua12t

Square Enix sound like a company in quite a bit of financial trouble. Sony should either buy them or Square Enix will allow the Final Fantasy games to be on other consoles, which looks to be the road they will go down. Always good to have as many people play the games as possible. I’m sure it’s been mentioned before but the £69.99 price tag really puts me off buying PlayStation games when they launch as well, I’m sure that must be a small factor at least.

Re: Microsoft Dealt Major Blow as UK Blocks Activision Buyout

stua12t

As a player or both consoles, it’s a shame the deals not going through as Xbox are making gaming more affordable with game pass etc and this gen especially, Sony have really amped up the cost of games etc (although yes you get very good quality games)

If the deal had done through, lots of people could access activison games such as COD for less. I do wonder now, Microsoft will spend that $69 Billion. I’d expect smaller publishers to be targeted next, Capcom, Ubisoft, Sega etc

Re: Will Call of Duty and Other Activision Blizzard Games Come to PS5, PS4?

stua12t

It’s interesting, I genuinely don’t know but don’t think for a second Microsoft won’t make Call of Duty exclusive. They have the money to absorb the loss of sales on PlayStation, they will see it as an opportunity to grow gamepass which is one of their priorities. I for one think this deal is a good idea, makes games more affordable and accessible to those that can’t afford £60 -£70 a game.

What Sony do from here will be interesting. Although Sony exclusives are such amazing quality, they are starting to look very expensive..

Re: Talking Point: Did the PS5 Showcase Event Deliver?

stua12t

Now I’ve had a bit of time to process the show, I can say the show itself was really good. However the aftermath online is an absolute ***** show. Sony’s messaging is now unclear. “We believe in generations” clearly that’s gone out the window. Launch titles being £70, so if you get the digital version you have to pay those prices.

Sony PlayStation social media cant even say which select retailers you can pre-order with, and to top it off, pre-orders opened at GAME and Smyths toys are 11.30pm on a Wednesday night. It’s a total mess.

I’ve decided to save up a bit more and wait until the spring or summer next year. I can play Myles Morales on my PS4 now. I’ll save up and get the disk version.

Re: Feature: Predict Sony's PS5 Event with This Yes or No Quiz

stua12t

Here's my prediction...

Gran Turismo 7(PS Exclusive)
Resident Evil 8 (Timed Exclusive)
Guerrllia Games (Killzone multiplayer + PS Exclusive)
Crash Bandicoot (Multi-platfrom)
Horizon Zero Dawn 2 Tease
Spider-Man 2 Tease
Silent Hill (PS Exclusive)
Castlevania (Timed Exclusive)
Batman (Multi-platform, but some content first on PS)
Call of Duty Black Ops (Early content for PS + Beta reveal)
Rachet and Clank (PS Exclusive)
Something from Rockstar (possibly a new Manhunt game)
Dead Space 4 (Multi-platform)

Re: Musician Accuses Naughty Dog of Stealing Arrangement for The Last of Us 2 Ad's Song

stua12t

Sounds like a musician trying to get some extra cash. It must be annoying if someone does a similar thing to you though I get that. But surely covering someone else’s song in the first place kinda stops her claim in the first place? I mean it’s not really her lyrics etc. I’m no expert though but when someone tweets compensation I highly doubt she cares about the actual music side of it.

Re: Soapbox: Sony Needs to Share a PS5 Roadmap

stua12t

By the end of this week, I feel like I will have a much better idea of what the Xbox Series X can do and how the games will look. Sony on the other hand... I have absolutely no idea. Lets be honest, both Godfall and the LOTR Gollum game really arn't painting a great picture of the PS5.

Sony have shown nothing yet, but I am sure they will by the end of the month. But the third party companies showing off screenshots are not doing the PS5 any favours at the moment.

Re: Delays Potentially Incoming for Many Upcoming Games

stua12t

It's going to be a strange end to the year and a strange end for this current generation. I would imagine that a lot of these delayed games and possibly soon to be delayed games will be eying up a Christmas release instead. This will I guess give Sony and Microsoft a bit of a headache, as they will either have to release these games on the PS5, or push console releases into the spring of 2021. I cannot see these huge PS4 games getting released the same time as a brand new console. Sure cross gen play will be enabled but they will probably need to market these games as PS5 and Xbox Series X games instead of current gen games if they are not going to move the console release dates.

Re: PS5 Has Less Teraflops Than Xbox Series X, Has 10.28 Teraflops of GPU Power

stua12t

So having watched the presentation, it's clear Sony is going for inovation over raw power. My take aways are...

PS5 is really fast, faster than Xbox Series X.
Allows developers to make the games they want without loading corridors or lifts etc.
PS5 will be enviornmentally friendly.
Audio will be better than Xbox Series X.
Keeping costs down has been important to Sony, hence the 825GB internal storage. When you factor in the OS this means we are probably looking at 750GB for games.

Question though, will the external SSD drives be able to store and run PS5 games unlike the Xbox Series X?

I'd expect the PS5 to be cheaper than the Xbox Series X now.

Re: E3 Organiser Reacts to Sony's Absence with Empty Words

stua12t

I really liked E3, purely for Sony/Microsoft announcements. Now that it is just Xbox it feels a bit flat. Sony does need to try and recapture that magic and hype that the E3 of old brought to the table and if they can successfully do that then that will be proof that they really don't need E3. lets hope for a big event and for Sony to come out with some surprises.

Re: Sony and PlayStation Will Not Be at E3 2020

stua12t

I'd imagine E3 in the past has probably cost Sony a lot of money. Although I loved the announcement buzz. I did read in another Push Square article that E3 are leaning towards the YouTube influence etc and I guess Sony don't see themselves as needing to advertise the PS5 and it's games in that environment as even without E3 the video game influences of the Internet talk about it anyway.

Re: Sucker Punch Writer 'Reveals' The Order: 1886 Sequel

stua12t

The Order 1886 was a good fun game with the potential for more. The story and lore was great and it was a technical triumph in terms of graphics. Gameplay was ok, but a sequel would have been amazing and no doubt they would have fixed and improved those weak areas from the first game. I do hope optimistically that a second is in development, it deserves a second chance and would make a great early showcase PS5 title.

Re: Talking Point: PlayStation Plus Is in Desperate Need of an Overhaul

stua12t

I know it’s been said already, but you can’t expect every game, every month to be something that appeals to you. The idea of a voting system sounds like a good way forward and a nice way of letting the community decide.
We also have to remember that our subscription goes towards the maintenance and improvements of the online infrastructure behind the scenes. It would be great to see a VR game included though, or a DLC pack of some kind.

Re: Talking Point: Did Microsoft Deliver the Goods in Its E3 2019 Press Conference?

stua12t

It was good. They had less AAA original titles but some nice smaller creative stuff. A lot of corporate bull, and spouting about how Scarlett will be the most powerful console without actually knowing the full details of the completion is risky. They are investing a lot in technology but not so much AAA games. Same old numbers series shown for AAA titles.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think of Sony's State of Play Livestream?

stua12t

I really liked the Iron Man VR but other than that I thought it was pretty flat. Hopefully it will improve and evolve into something a little more fun. I think they are going in the right direction with these videos but it needs work to make it stand out and have an impact. I’d say 5/10 but confident they will improve and listen to feedback.

Re: Rumour: Overkill's The Walking Dead Seemingly Cancelled on PS4

stua12t

@Link41 Not sure how legit that email is in the link. The wording doesn’t sound right. It seems too relaxed, and I’ve not had emails with that tone before from PlayStation when they email me. I might be wrong though. Either way I was really hoping the game would be good. The trailer looked promising.

Re: Guide: Best PS4 Boxing Day 2018 Deals

stua12t

Don’t take this the wrong way, but everything is from Amazon bar 1 item in that entire list. You can’t really go around saying Boxing Day bargains when it could be cheaper elsewhere and you’re only looking at one retailer.

Re: Shawn Layden on Sony's Silence: See You in the New Year

stua12t

Sounds like they are planning to hit 2019 hard. The silence probably means everyone is heads down working hard behind the scenes. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a PS reveal before E3 and a PS5 release at the end of the year, or at least some very specific dates the final bunch of exclusives.

Re: Soapbox: Fans Think PlayStation's Losing Momentum, And Sony's to Blame

stua12t

I really like this website for its pretty chilled approach and good reviews and not feeling like some fan boy website but it’s staring to feel a bit like fan boys getting miffed with all these articles and getting annoyed at Sony. Just let them do their thing and if it doesn’t work and the end results bad then rant, but they’ve really stepped up over the past few years with the PS4 and have been listening to what fans want so chill and just believe that Sony, Microsoft Nintendo etc know what they are doing.

Re: Sony Confirms Zero E3 2019 Presence, Will Share New Plans Soon

stua12t

I doubt they have much left to show of this generation. They clearly don’t want to reveal the next Gen stuff yet. They will most likely have a special event when rival companies are not showcasing anything in order to maximise exposure. I would expect a PS5 reveal at some point in the latter half of next year. Or maybe even earlier.

Re: Fallout 76 Is Getting Review Bombed by Irritated Fans

stua12t

I’ve not personally played it yet, but judging by what publications and many review sites are saying they probably have a right to be annoyed if they have paid £50 for a technical mess etc. Not sure labelling them as petty is nice although unfortunately some people can be.

Re: Spider-Man PS4's Puddle Drama Is An Absolute Embarrassment

stua12t

The two images do have noticable differences but it's quite clear that the second image is of a lower quality compared to the first. It's definetly more pixelated. Either way the game looks fantastic and I can't wait to play it. Maybe the first image is a PS4 Pro image? I actually don't know but either way I shall be getting this day one regardless. Also the position of the enemie shadows could indicate that it's a different time of day. So we could be looking at a morning screenshot vs afternoon. Again just guessing.

Re: Xbox Gamers Are More Hardcore Than PlayStation, Says Microsoft

stua12t

Trouble is, Microsoft are really trying but clearly don’t quite know what their customers want. That’s clear from the XBox One reveal. PlayStation on the other hand are so confident they have gone quiet. Both could improve in different areas. Both consoles are good in there own way. In terms of hardcore gamers. I highly doubt Microsoft’s have Sony’s data so I don’t know exactly what they have to compare there own data too. This is just a marketing person giving there brand some press by making loud statements. Nothing more.

Re: Fallout 76 Trailer Gives a Little More Insight into How Multiplayer Works

stua12t

The trouble is, barely anyone actually plays games like these the way the developer intended. It's a nice idea but it will probably be just another multiplayer game where the dedicated few completely dominate the entire thing and make it less fun for those casual players with less time. I could be wrong and I am curious to se how it turns out.

Re: Round Up: We Happy Few PS4 Reviews Aren't Smiling

stua12t

This is one of those games that looks really interesting. It's a shame about the average scores but I'd have only picked this up when its price dropped to around £20 anyway. Hopefully some updates will fix the gameplay issues and it will be a nice game to try out in the future at more reasonable price.
