The Star Wars info was a nice surprise, but The whole stage demo for a mobile game and the Anthem talk was really boring. The sports stuff is the same every year. Anthem is also looking very generic but possibly a Destiny replacement. EA Originals were the highlight of the show. Also releasing Anthem on the same day as Days Gone doesn’t seem a sensible choice.
I really hope this isn't another remake or remaster of an old Fallout game. Really don't have the time to play through them again and to be honest I wouldn't want to. If it is Fallout 5, then at least let it be in a decent engine this time. I'd love them to release a WET 2 though.
My first thought was is that its now got a slight Overwatch tone to it and quite possibly is still on the Black Ops 3 engine which is a shame because in some parts of the stream yesterday it looked dated. I like the idea of no health regeneration, and the amount of effort they have put into the guns etc, but Zombies mode just looks a bit silly. I do enjoy the single player side of things too so it's a shame they ditched it. I'll probably wait till its half price or inevitably wait got Modem Warfare 4 or whatever it is next year.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Tomb Raider gets a delay until January or Feb 2019. Can’t see it hitting sales targets if it’s up against FIFA, Spider-Man etc
If I’ve not played it before sometimes I’ll pick up a remaster but if I’ve already played it, especially on a previous gen console I’m not interested. Already so many games out there that I’ve played.
They clearly announced both Days Gone and TLOU 2 way too early in development. Both look great though. Looks like 2019 will be a great year for PS4. Can’t imagine PS5 will be long off by the time 2019 is done.
I think they need to wait until 4K TV’s are more affordable and are installed in most homes. Also the release of the Xbox One X has given Sony a benchmark to push past and they will want to release a new console at least a year ahead of Microsoft. I think they will keep the controller the same with some minor upgrades internally. I don’t expect a huge leap beyond what the Xbox One X is doing as households won’t be past 4K TV’s for a long time yet.
After having played it for a few hours this game has two major issues. Friendly AI keep getting in the way and on the level where you have to use one of those guns you sit in, when you die the checkpoint doesn’t recover health and you can’t use a Med kit so if your health is seriously low you cannot carry on and have to restart the level. Otherwise graphically great and a great story for campaign.
I really wanted to play this when it got announced. I was gutted when I heard it was an Xbox exclusive for a while but I am really pleased it's coming to PlayStation. Although £54.99 is steep, I'll wait till it ends up in an inevitable sale.
@get2sammyb Each to there own I guess. I would love to see trophy tracking though, and like I said, for me the UI isn't great but it has improved over the years it's just a bit of a slog getting around it.
@OldSchoolHeel exactly that, it must be a difficult job to get right but it's definitely a chore to get to certain areas and what annoys me most is trying to find add on content you've purchased for a game. Having to go through menu after menu.
@get2sammyb I'm not a fan of the main home screen. It's been improved but I was hoping to see a different style. I just find it a bit long winded. For example the lag is a major issue which I only really noticed about a year or so ago. I just genuinely don't like the home menu system to be fair I much prefer the Xbox UI.
I was expecting a full UI overhaul. Maybe that will come with the next console a couple of years down the line. Not bad improvements by any means and any improvement is a welcome one.
I don't know about anyone else but I currently have one of the original 500gb models (only purchased a couple of years ago) and the UI has slowed right down over the past few months. Feels like it's stuttering and struggling to load certain pages such as loading the trophies page or the page that updates you on what your friends have been up to.
Are Sony aware of this? I mean its really got noticeable in the last few months.
Although it is awesome PlayStation have deals pretty much every week. This one feels like the same old games again. Already purchased a lot of the ones I would like due to them being in a previous sale.
I think it was pretty much the same as it's been for the past few years. Most people from what I've seen on Twitter were really just waiting for Star Wars Battlefront 2 news. I never really find the sports/car game bit that interesting, but A Way Out looked promising. Not sold on Bioware's new title Antham either, just looks like an amalgamation of Titanfall COD etc. I'm very much looking forward to what Bethesda show, as they have had a great year for games.
Although it can be expensive, I do like looking around and sometimes purchase something, but all I want is to be able to go into a GAME store and not be asked if I want to pre-order anything, or if I want disc protection etc.
Now this will just add another question to the customer on top of what feels like the 20 they already ask at the till.
It also comes across that GAME are possibly having cash flow issues, and are trying to drum up cash quickly. I do hope they don't leave the high street but I feel it's only a matter of time.
Why would anyone actually want to get a refund, other than if the game was buggy and not what was stated in the description? It's quite difficult to accidentally buy a digital game on the PSN store but I do agree that if a game is not what was stated in screen shots or description then fair enough but otherwise I have no idea why someone would even want a refund.
For me, Sony's strategy has always been about software over hardware. Yea the pro was a nice addition but they have been heavily pushing the marketing for the software, which for me is the main reason I purchase a console. I'm interested in what Scorpio has to offer, but the exclusive software lineup from Microsoft has been an utter shambles and if they can't deliver with Scorpio then why would I want one?
It would be quite nice if they could also fix the motion sickness issue. I know a lot of people are suffering from that and I can imagine that hurts sales.
I'd like to see a change in what they offer to include items such as Guitar Hero song packs or free choice of DLC for games that subscribers own, or maybe even access to trials of upcoming games. Game wise I'd like to see Killzone: Shadows Fall or a VR game such as Headmaster.
As much as I want to have a go on a VR headset paying for a go is really not the way forward. It costs enough in the first place. Next they'll be charging us for walking through the door.
I'm on the fence at the moment, it looks like fun, but for £350 I would have to try it first before I buy it. Trouble is nowhere near me has it available to try instore. If I pick it up it will probably be next winter when more games are announced and when it's had some time to settle in.
When the free games started, we were given some absolutely fantastic games, but that's definitely started to noticably dwindle over the past few months. There was a point when games such as Thief and Infamous Last Light were given away. If they really are struggling to find decent games to give away, maybe they could include one of the latest movie releases or a DLC voucher code instead.
