Re: Video: One Year Later, Is PSVR2 Doing Enough?

savarunl

It's the classic story of the chicken and the egg and what came first.
VR gaming is, many years later, still very much a niche-market. It might eventually become mainstream but it might also not.

To make the VR platform (the chicken) great, you need games to play on it (the eggs). However, because VR is such a niche, investing in developing a VR game is a huge risk, one that many publishers are not willing to take.
Hence, the games are not coming out en masse, because of this people see no reason to buy the psvr, in turn giving publishers less incentive to make vr games.

The only solution to this cycle is Sony-backed big titles for PSVR2, they have to invest in some platform sellers that make people want to buy the device, so there's more common ground for other publishers to order development for it.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Skull and Bones?

savarunl

Saw some of it on youtube and it didn't look even remotely interesting.
Also, too busy with Yakua LAD now and FF7Rebirth coming up, plus the 100 games still sitting in my backlog.
This game will just go off my radar, i might try it sometimes if it's free on ps plus or something.

Re: Looks Like This Is the New Lara Croft in PS5's Next Tomb Raider

savarunl

I've no issue with anything or anyone, but her face in this picture absolutely looks like a man's face (open the bigger version, it's way more clear there).
I think it's mainly the jawline that does it.

The main issue i think people have is that she really doesn't look like lara croft anymore, mainly because of the face (the rest of the style is pretty much lara croft).

It's nothing to do with 'transphobia' or whatever the ***** people are cooking up in the comments here. It's everything to do with changing how a gaming icon looks, for no reason at all.
Imagine suddenly having a pink mario without a mustache, a sonic who is now no longer a hedgehog, but a giraffe instead, etc. Noone likes this and everyone would be cool calling that out, but if you call out the changes on Lara Croft you're suddenly a 'woman hater' or whatever ridiculous term people come up with.

Re: 13 More Games Coming to PS Plus Extra, Premium This Month

savarunl

Some people will never be happy.
They are throwing some great games here with the tales games, outer wilds, ac valhalla and nfs unbound.
Most of these games are highly praised, outer wilds even has a 98% approval rating om steam. Yet i see in the comments here people have the audacity to call these 'garbage bin' games.

Ofcourse you're going to have played some of the games on this service already, or not like some of them. That doesn't make them crap games. It's just the nature of a service like this, it doesn't cater exactly to you, every single time.

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About All of the Xbox Multiplatform Rumours?

savarunl

What game from Xbox exclusives is even good? The only one i can think of is the Forza series, fine if that comes to PS5 i might actually play them.
For the rest there's nothing really interesting in Xbox eclusive titles imho.

The only nice thing is this opens up TES6 to come out on PS5 too, which would be cool.

Re: Poll: How's Your Hype for Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

savarunl

Not sure yet if i'll get this. I liked the first one but it got pretty repetitive pretty fast. I think the Arkham games did what it did, but better, a few years before it.
Will see if they added some more variance to the gameplay or not.

Re: Total Final Fantasy Franchise Sales at 180 Million

savarunl

Funny thing is GTA5 isn't even the top selling game. That's minecraft at 238 million copies.

Doesn't mean anything to FF numbers though, 180 million is pretty damn impressive for a niche market (jrpg's).

Ask any regular person if they can name some games; chances are they will know gta, minecraft and fifa. They will likely not have heard of final fantasy though.

Re: Final Fantasy 16 (PS5) - Final Fantasy's Triumphant Return to the Top

savarunl

What a game! Started on friday and have been playing a lot over the weekend.
Hear a lot of people saying ' it's not final fantasy' which i find very weird, as it reminds me a lot of exactly the older ff games like 1 and 2, just in a modern jacket. The only thing missing is fixed parties, well boo-hoo.
If it stays this good for the remainder of the game this might become one of my all-time favourites.

Re: Video: Top 10 PS5 Platinums for Beginners

savarunl

I used to do platinums, even to the point i got stressed out about obtaining them. I got quite a few of them, but looking back at it it wasn't really any fun a lot of the time.
My gaming time got 200% more enjoyable when i just turned off all trophy notifications and don't look at them anymore.
I even did get 2 more platinums this way (you can see that in your profile on the ps5), but it was so much more relaxed playing without that constant carrot on a stick

Re: Soapbox: I'm Sorry, But Your Cute Cat Game Isn't That Great

savarunl

@Art_Vandelay

The point flies straight past their heads really.
I even saw someone make the point that ghost of tsushima would be an 'ok' game if you remove samurai from it, like... what? That game set a new standard for open world games and is refined to it's bones, you could put freaking Kirby in it and it would still rock.

The point is, stray has bad/simplistic puzzle elements, a mediocre story, mediocre platforming and it's way too short.
So the only thing it has going for it is 'you are a cat'. How then, is not a valid point to question what is left of the game if you take the 'being a cat' element away?

It's not a terrible game, and it is something different and at times even fun. the world you are playing in is crafted very well. But it's nowhere near a '9' game is the real point that is being made. That would put it in league with games like Forbidden West and the aforementioned Ghost of Tsushima, and it's just nowhere even close to that level of a game.

Re: Soapbox: I'm Sorry, But Your Cute Cat Game Isn't That Great

savarunl

@Phelaidar

The difference being being that Cod MW in essence is just a good game, with a good story, and good mechanics.
Stray isn't, the game is very very barebones, extremely short and simplistic. So if the only thing it has going for it is 'but you're a cat', then the point suddenly becomes very valid.

If you look at it like that and are happy that it's just a cat simulator, sure, it could work for you. But if yo uvalue anything in games beyond that, it just becomes a decent game at best...

Re: Video: 30 Facts You Need to Know About The Last Of Us Remake on PS5

savarunl

@Amin1998

You aren't in the minority here man.
The ones yapping and screaming about it over and over again are the small minority, you'll see when the sales figures hit.

Instead of just not buying it if they are unhappy, they ofcourse have to vent their little rage in every article about the game, over and over again. Because god forbid someone else actually likes the remake.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium Now Live in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand

savarunl

@Valgore

It's not all over the place, it's jus a difference from if you had a monthly, quarterly or annual ps plus before. Since the with the annual you get like 6 months for 'free' compared to monthly.

I have 350 days left of ps plus (which is now essential), and since mine is set to annual i pay €40 for the extra upgrade or €60 for the premium upgrade; the exact difference between the tiers annual price.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 429

savarunl

Currently playing the Ezio collection as i had not played those 3 AC games before, it's still a treat (and i'm only on the first game so far, AC2).
Also have the last bits to wrap up of AC odyssey (last part of the atlantis
DLC), and i might check out the PS5 patch of Origins for a bit.

Re: Best Open World Games on PS5

savarunl

I'm probably in the minority but i agree with this list. GoT is just the epitome of a good open world game for me and both morales and forbidden west are great.

I don't really get all the 'elden ring should be 1', i've played it and it's a decent game, but people act like it's the best game ever and it's far from it.
It really does nothing new in terms of open world and it even got quite boring at certain points. I had way more fun playing bloodborne and the demon's souls remake, which makes me believe that open world is actually a step down for souls-like games.

Re: Poll: Will You Subscribe to Sony's New PS Plus Tiers?

savarunl

It all depends on what games they are adding to the higher tiers and how often new games will be added.
The list for the middle tier looks good, but i already have all those games named. A promise from sony that at least 1-2 good games per month will be added to it, will make me subscribe to it.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Gran Turismo 7?

savarunl

9/10, simply the best GT to date.

Yes, the online DRM is bad, even if it mostly does not affect me, but i'm not going to score this masterpiece of a game on that alone.

The only minor thing i would love to see added is being able so sell duplicate cars to the garage.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 User Score the Lowest in PlayStation Exclusive History

savarunl

@ScepticDK

That is not the case at all. People are overreacting like mad, what else is new. Most of these people 'reviewing' the game likely did not even play it, Metacritic is just a big cesspit that people shouldn't even pay attention to really.
If you play the campaign and challenges etc. normally You'll be just fine getting all the cars you want, without ever buying any credits, you get more than enough from just playing.

The only legitimate critisism is that the single player mode, or at least most of it, is not playable when the GT servers are offline. That should not be a thing and i sincerely hope they will patch that to be different.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's Latest State of Play?

savarunl

@AndyKazama

No, i'm excited too. All of the RPG's they showed looked pretty good! Just with Forspoken, the dialogue and the choice of music really puts me off, and since they show that in every Forspoken trailer i'm afraid the game is going to be full of it. That would be a hard skip for me.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's Latest State of Play?

savarunl

Was ok-ish for a State of play.
The last 2 games, the Squex RPG's really catched my eye and the free Returnal update is very nice. Ghostwire looked interesting too. The stuff they showed for FF origins was pretty cool too.
Forspoken just has me less interested every time they show a new trailer.

Re: Gran Turismo 7's New Approach to Microtransactions Isn't Going Down Well

savarunl

@Would_you_kindly

You ARE getting all the content in the game. You don't have to pay anything to unlock everything. If you want to skip everything and go straight into MP with a big collection, there's a convenience fee and there is nothing wrong with that.

Are you seriously asking why you can not cheat in a game in 2022 (apart from the fact that the gamesharks costed money too)?

Again, you do not have to pay anything. You don't want to pay, you play to unlock (yeah i know, weird concept, actually playing a game you bought).
